      @@johnnyq90 this is just my opinion but I think you should test the fuel system first with compressed air. What I mean by this means is instead of using a turbo, use an air compressor for now to test that your fuel system can even utilise boost in the first place.

    • @MrAndrius12
      @MrAndrius12 Před 3 lety +17

      @@johnnyq90 I assume you have read our input on the supercharger? Honestly I feel like that is a good decision, as centrifugal supercharger boost goes up with RPM so it's not optimal, not to mention the super high rpm required, while with a roots or twin screw it's instantaneous. Though if you ever want to re-visit the centrifugal supercharger and you believe you can make it work reliably with super high rpm, that would be epic.

    • @jamescampbell4205

    Flat Head 4 stroke engines of this size are perfect for small applications and develop more power per cubic centimeter than a traditional overhead valve design. It can also handle more RPM. The oiling system is its only drawback because it limits continuous operation and ultra high rpm.
    I remember when several go kart hot rodders in the 1980s modified 400 to 500 cc flathead models solving this problem by using a roller bearing using a custom made 2 piece crankshaft for the traditional babbit connecting rod bearing (most flathead designs today don't even use a bearing because they are low rpm engines) that eliminated the need for adding 2 stroke oil to the fuel while having the added advantage of keeping the oil in the crankcase below maximum temperature at high rpm. These engines could run for as long as fuel was available. Oil "consumption" was astonishingly low at .65 ml per hour.
    I wonder if a roller bearing could be used in one of these.

      My guess would be that the crankcase is part of the intake path -- it's the intake manifold if you will. That is, after going through the carburetor, the air goes into the crankcase, and then to the intake valve. But.this is just a guess.

    • @lorenzov9136
      @lorenzov9136 Před 3 lety +1

      It most likely has a single piston ring. The oil leaks past the ring gap into the crankcase. Excess oil is drained to the little container. That's atleast how it works with nitro 4 stroke engines. I assume it's the same here.
      Bet it's a gas engine because they can't get the compression high enough (yet), it been a side valve and with the glass head.

    Any idea what is used for the window? Acrylic, Soda Glass, Borosilicate Glass, *Sapphire* ?
    Either way really neat piece of kit!
