    We just returned from a two week trip to Oslo and Iceland, and wish I had packed more minimally. I loved the sauna boat. We did one right outside of Oslo in Lysaker and it was so nice. Weather was amazing and surprising, and the yarn shopping was fantastic! I can’t wait to hear what shops you visited!!

    I recently made my own lipbalm and it was honestly life-changing! It's equal parts coconut oil and beeswax (graded to add to cosmetics) then a little bit of vitamin e oil (available at any drugstore) and I added peppermint oil because I love a minty lipbalm. I put it in a little container similar to the glass ones you showed for cosmetics!!

    Hi Jennifer, this podcast was great. The Live of My Life and I travel the world and it is a highlight fir us 2 to 3 tines a year. I live in New Engkand and have made our way to all 50 States and visited 250 National Parks. Oor next big adventure is travel clear across Canada fir 7 weeks, beginning in Vancouver, taking The Mountaineer Train over Rickies and ibto 2 of your beautiful National Parks. We end in Calgary and have then put together our iwn itinerary making our way through Winnipeg, Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa, Quebec (which is where my family is from), PEI, Chetticamp (I am a rug hooker also), Lunenburg, Margarettsville and Halifax. We skipped Montreal, as we have been many times and is an easy trip for us.
    Your packing suggestions are wonderful, so thoughtful and make great sense. It is very similiar to how I travel. I might make one suggestion is neck light (very inexpensive), but it helps to direct light onto my knitting on the plane and is very thoughtful for the persons beside you when they prefer to rest. Here is the link to mine

    Thank you for all the content you share, knitting and travel are a huge part of my life ❤❤

      I love hearing about your travels! Thank you for sharing about the neck light. I have left mine at home because I feel I would have only used it on flights, which didn’t make the criteria for being brought with me on this specific I trip (many more hours of sunlight here than back home at the moment). Wishing you the best time on your upcoming travels though Canada!!!

    Previously as a flight attendant for a major airline carrier I've learned it's also important to carry a list of medications and their dosages (as a precaution). Also a travel-size scented candle is a lovely touch to where you will be staying. You may also wish to carry a small gift for any random acts of kindness - authentic Canadian maple syrup, maybe. Have a wonderful adventure!

    😂 feel like you just went through my bags! I just got back on Monday from 3 weeks in California and the only thing I did differently was this time I put my carryon in an empty large bag because lol well …. I knew I’d be bringing back huge amounts of yarn from every awesome shop I went to. Um and I did! Have a great trip.

    I never take my chiaogoo interchangeables on the airplanes. I travel with cheap needles. They unexpectedly took my needles in Turkey. NBD but I had no knitting for the flight! Have a great trip

      Thank you for sharing. I ended-up leaving my interchangeable set at home and brought only bare bones of needle options.

    Hello dear, welcome to Norway! I travel regularly on domestic flights in Norway, and have never had any problem getting my knitting needles through security,. They have taken away some good scissors, so now I carry some small children’s scissors - which I always pull out and show the security staff. I have carried both metal and wooden needles, but never a complete set of interchangables. If you are travelling soon, make sure you pack some summer clothes as well as those woolen sweaters. We had 28 degrees Celsius (82, 4 F) in Oslo yesterday!

      Thank you very much! What a beautiful country. Yes, we experienced sweaty hot temperatures in Oslo and now are dressed in our woollies in Bergen. I packed appropriately. Thank you for sharing about the scissors and needles. Happy knitting!

    Well done! Happy travels!😎 I also carry a little promo item from a trade show….fabric handle on a small carabiner, I can loop it through my knitting bag and attach somewhere on the seat ahead of me. It keeps the yarn contained in the bag while I knit…don’t ask how I know this!😉

    Did you comletely loose your Chiaogoo set in Mexico, did you have to buy a another set when you came home ??? I would havebeen devastated. Could you at least keep the cables ??? Which two knitting projects are you taking with you ? I usually take socks, but since you are not a sock knitter ...

    • @pairswellwithknitting
      @pairswellwithknitting  Před dnem

      I was very lucky and because only had carry-on bag, I placed my needle set in my small suitcase and checked it in. It was the first time I went through that. It wasn’t a big deal, but meant that I couldn’t knit on the flight.

    • @nicolelafontaine1720

      @@pairswellwithknitting Oh! Not knitting must have been a bit difficult, but at least you didn't get your needles confiscated. 👍

    When I was going through security at Manchester UK, they found a lip balm that wasn’t in my bag of liquids ( like you, I have lip balm in every pocket!). Because of that I was pulled aside and everything had to be swabbed! Very stressful and almost missed my plane home. Who knew that a tube of solid lip balm is a liquid……since then I always put them in the liquids bag.😊. Have fun in 🇳🇴 Jennifer! look forward to your next video

      @pairswellwithknitting  Před dnem

      I’m sorry to hear you had so much trouble from a lip balm. And a solid at that! I’m having a wonderful time and will consider placing my lip balm in my liquids. Even though they are all stick form.

    Thank you so much! Traveling to Europe next year and this was very helpful. How do you all those sweaters in your suitcase?

    • @pairswellwithknitting
      @pairswellwithknitting  Před dnem +1

      My pleasure! I ended-up bringing only 2 sweater and swapped out one for a shrug. I wore my heavier sweater around my shoulders on the plane and packed the lighter sweater and shrug in my carry-on suitcase. They are puffy, but squish down.

  • @cherylbaker1396
    @cherylbaker1396 Před 4 dny +1

    Very comprehensive! but do tell (as I am planning on Norway next year)…what is your plan to get the yarn home??? I was thinking of putting my small suitcase inside of a larger one and then checking on the way home. I don’t know but I know when I go there will be yarn coming home.

    • @pairswellwithknitting
      @pairswellwithknitting  Před dnem

      This makes sense. I continue my travels and have been considering how I’m going to tote my yarn back home. I have my plan A, which is to wear more clothes and my boots onboard my return flight, freeing up space in my bags or plan B, which is shop a package home. I’m crossing my fingers for plan A.

  • @maswannie

    I really enjoyed that but would love to know what shoes you take apart from running shoes (if any). My shoes seem to take up a lot of room…

    • @pairswellwithknitting
      @pairswellwithknitting  Před dnem

      Shoes are always the largest item to pack. I am quite conservative with shoes during my travels, however this time I also carried a pair of Blundstones for the rainy parts of my travels. First time travelling with such ridiculously large footwear. They have been used a lot already and were totally worth bringing! So in total- Blundstones, running shoes and a pair of leather sandals that go with everything. I will wear the Boots on my return flight.

    I usually will put my interchangable in suitcase, and if knitting on plane..i put on wooden. The other two things i bring is a small..dollar store wipe packets that are small and bug spray..which is in my suitcase, especially if you have sensitive skin.
