  • WOW... Some repair shop totally EFFED UP my girlfriend's sound system. After picking up her car up from repairs, we quickly noticed that everything in the trunk was improperly disconnected and thrown back in THE WRONG WAY!!! And on top of that, the subwoofer was now BLOWN... making all sorts of mechanical noise, with the amplifier was BADLY scratched. Also, the enclosure was missing bits of carpet, and the plastic that holds the battery handle was broken!!! Seriously? Can't even believe it...

    If you ask me... turning up my stereo and blowing my speaker is kind of malicious... I mean did you need to turn up the stereo to fix the bumper? Really?

    • @firebirdude2
      @firebirdude2 Před 7 lety +36

      Obviously not. But that's still not malicious. Check the definition. If they cranked it to max specifically intending to destroy it, then yes, that's malicious. Short of a hidden camera of them saying "watch me blow this up on purpose", you're never going to be able to prove that.

    • @jamieboley1180
      @jamieboley1180 Před 7 lety +26

      Well "technically" it's not malicious... But it may as well be with the amount of ignorance you must posses about car stereos to do that much damage.. I mean damn.. They never intended to tell him, that's for sure..

    It's civil, not criminal... If they don't just step up and take care of you (most respectable businesses will)... you would have to sue them. The cop was just trying to say there was no crime. It appeared to be an accident (maybe negligence at most). If it would have been malicious or intentional it would have been destruction of property (a crime).

    • @AstroTundraBASS
      @AstroTundraBASS Před 7 lety +2

      @thedwarfgimli5323 Před 7 lety

      John Doe well do you think it was an accident they were that neglectful to the system? No one is that dumb who is competent to have a job. They purposely cut corners and were lazy, not to mention they made the decision to purposely touch something they shouldn't have, and they purposely did everything they did. All the damage. So how is that an accident. They didn't just brush against it.

    • @ebay5215

      Yep, the hole "Malicious" intent thing! Either your a frequent flyer or have a law background. NICE!

    • @calebcrossman5084
      @calebcrossman5084 Před 7 lety +1

      The actual intent of repairing his vehicle without damaging anything, isn't a malicious intent. Shit happens at mechanic shops, that's also why I don't go to them -- learn to work on your own car, and fix your own shit. Or, take your valuables out prior to service. That's a common sense.
      If there is absolutely no other option than a repair shop, take your shit -- all of it out. Do not give their bad apples a reason to shine and do something stupid..
      However, yeah the repair shop's employee most likely fucked up, thought he knew what we was doing and fucked up. I doubt any of his intentions were , "Oh he has nice shit, let me just go right on a fuck it all up cause he's a asshole." It's more like whoever was the person touching the equipment thought he knew enough about whatever, to mess with it without approval. I assume there is more than one mechanic at the shop.
      Yeah everyone is pissed about it, I get it. I would be too. Logic dictates you should have known to take your aftermarket equipment out. And since Audio is on a different end of the spectrum, unlike performance mods because audio doesn't go hand in hand with body shop. With pretty much limited options, you're only option is to take your stuff out before going in. Any half-decent shop would advise it even if nothing happened on their watch, they don't want the responsibility if something happened.

    • @jordanmpaul
      @jordanmpaul Před 7 lety

    I feel you. Many years ago, my 1990 convertible white 5.0 mustang fox body had to be left in a body shop for a week for some repairs. The day i came to get it my stereo wouldn't turn on. i check my trunk where i had a custom box with two 12" Rockford Fosgate subs and Fosgate amp was all gone amp and all. I'm talking about this box was designed to permanently stay in the trunk as it was molded into the spare wheel area. and i got jacked. i complained to the owner and he said the cameras system wasn't working that week. and was still needing repair. so i told him, then obviously it was an employee if they knew it wasn't working so they had to take hours to pull it out. Long story short i had no proof when i filed a police report and lost it all...

No crossovers just a screw-in job. I removed the door panel to see what they did and I kid you not there was ONE screw. Yes ONE screw holding the speaker in. I am no pro at all and people would say my work is probably sloppy in some cases but my shit sounds good and I could care less what anyone thinks after that experience. Unfortunately, It's a civil case... not a criminal case. I completely agree with you that this was focked up of them to tear your stuff like that because I would be pissed too... but unfortunately, like the cop said. Law enforcement can't get involved unless... someone was caught stealing your stuff or damaged it on purpose. The owner of the body shop is at fault and he has insurance on his business, if he's the sole proprietor or is under an LLC or Inc, he would have to file a claim with his own insurance for the damages his employees did to your stuff and if he refuses to pay or gives you the run around, or stalls... at least a month after he agreed to fix it, then you can file a small claim's suit at the court clerks office in that county and get a process server to serve the body shop owner for the damages, court cost, process server, and possibly a rental car for the additional days your car now will have to be fixed again if he fights you on the repairs. Just make sure to have copy's of the cops statement, receipts for your stuff, the rental car, and the body shop invoice for the repairs that were done on on your car. Paper work is very helpful to show the Judge so he can figure out the cost of your losses and give you a ball park figure on what to rule to the defendant. Or just call Judge Judy. She'll set them strait! Lol

    I took them back to the shop I bought the audio equipment from. Shop owner told me not to worry about it because he can just ship them back and claim they were damaged on receipt. Gave me full credit for them, and offered to upgrade me to a higher power model that just came out for 30% off the price difference.

      You don't get a blown or detached voice coil in an accident. You get that by playing at really loud volume with the trunk lid open...

      Nick Malvasi So you are saying that it is impossible for a wreck to detach a voice coil from the sudden impact?

      Nick Little ripping a voice coils that is VERY durable and breaking a MAGNET are 2 different things. One is meant to move a SHIT load and the other none.

      Nick Little I don't think that's possible. It must of been cheep because expensive ones will be way to secure for the magnet to detach
