Firstly, my apologies if I'm a bit late on responding to videos...I'm here in the UAE so we've got a bit of a time difference! I do try and get to most of your videos and we've had great interaction via your channel. So DrumLion, from that point of view you easily engage the most with me as a follower than any other channel I follow. It's refreshing and I think you've hit that nail on the head. Like you mentioned, even a like to show you've read the comment goes a very long way. Here we are, opposite sides of this crazy planet, sharing a common love for metal and metal drumming specifically. I think social media is full of so much great connection and growth, but also a gathering place for people that are probably very unhappy with their lives, possibly depressed, or just angry with things in general. They have also found their outlet in the comment section. It's damn near impossible to ignore sometimes! I believe the positivity on this channel will far surpass the trolls and I cheer for your continued growth and support! Also we're both ex military boys and I'm lucky enough to still instruct for the Armed Forces here in Abu Dhabi. Metal and military...it's kind of a thing I guess :) I think this will be one of your most important videos in the years to come. Right, now to get to that Gojira video!!!!

Bro this comment hit me in the feels, i cant even lie. You're incredible support of me is something that a mere thank you can't even express. You were one of my earliest members of this community and you've always been stalwart of your support of me. You're a fellow brother in arms(kinda wish i was on that overseas vacation with you tbh), and a comrade in the world of metal. Just know you are extremely valued and the fact that you gave me that INCREDIBLE SUPER THANKS left me absolutely speechless. I want to do something special for that so if there is a song you want a specific drum cover on tell me and ill nail the performance and spruce up the presentation. Its the least i can to show my continued appreciation of you.

I think their heaviest song is Gods (check it out). They've got their own vibe going on but well worth it. They're not full on metal so if you'd like something heavier, just shout! I also need to add, that if I am reacting to a band or the band's drummer, chances are I have heard of that band already( I will state explicitly in the video if I have never heard of them), and I am doing a first impression on a specific take about that band. With the Tool video, I had not actually watched and studied Danny Carey's playing, but I have heard some Tool songs on Spotify, Pandora etc. I will admit I have not deep dived into their catalog which is why I asked for guidance on their songs. As a 2-pronged attack, I am also trying to gauge interest on songs people would want to see me react to. There's a method to the madness. Any thoughts about the talking points let me know, just please keep it respectful is all I ask.

I was instantly taken with your style on the reaction to Evgeny Novikov playing Zavali Ebalo, you were basically researching the track and I loved the analysis (I'm a sucker for drum reactions so I seek them out, and that video is one of my favourites for the groove that he slots into his deathcore.) As the track went on the research died off and it was wonderful to see you just explode and lose yourself in the music. SInce then this has become one of my favourite channels to visit and see all the cool music you unearth/play and to just learn more about what drives you etc, what tastes you have etc.
The growth is awesome though sadly it does open up to more toxic elements, but if the community stays solid they will hopefully drop off like the rancid warts that they are.

Bro being a normal viewer, I love the content. You are absolutely right, you’re not animated like other CZcams channels. That is partly why I watch. I like to see a person breakdown the performance not just rock straight through a set and that’s the end of the video. Does it work for some yeah because they match the intensity, but it is all fluff and funny to watch a new metal head being born lol.
You bring a different perspective to the reaction being that you have that background in Metal and Rock’n’Roll itself with your father. It is truly refreshing that you can have a true reaction but also provide insight.
I used to play drums, couldn’t keep a beat if I tried now lol. To be 100% honest. You mentioned the Patreon and CZcams membership I will always be a fan and watch the videos. Of course show my love, but like you make little to no money like a lot of people. By no means am I saying make free content lol! Make that money however you can. I am simply saying thank you for providing a different perspective from all of the so called other reactors and cover artists on CZcams.
To the comment about the A**hole who hides behind the screen. Do you see this man’s pythons???? Not only the fact (I am assuming here) he may be a Vet who has maintained his training after the fact. Hahaha Jk no need to insight violence. But keep your racist opinions to yourself. You are the reason why all people cannot move on from all of the oppressive things we see on the news everyday. This is supposed to be fun and the fact that DrumLion is one of the very few that shows his love back to his viewers, you ought to be ashamed.

You have no idea how much i appreciate this comment. Youre very intune with the foundation im trying to build for this channel. There's definitely people out there that i have no idea why they show up to a channel that i try to maintain on a positive note and like you said, show love to everyone that engages, just to troll me. I removed a comment from a guy that said on the Nils Dominator reaction i did that using fingers to do a blast beat is a "beta" thing to do, and to stay "brutal" you bunch of weebs. I got rid of that because im not going to tolerate someone coming in with a ridiculously ignorant comment and insult my community. And as far as the patreon and membership i should have stressed, only if people are able to contribute. I don't want to add any pressure like that because i know life is hard as hell on people.
You're also correct about my training. Ive stayed in shape and the gun range i go to is run by cops, an army reserve guy, and the rest are vets. They even do glass house training (room clearing, battle drill 6).the same stuff i did when i was in.
Thank you again to you for all your support. You've had my back for awhile now and don't think i take that for granted. I appreciate you.

Happy Holidays to you and your family! Social media is like the major leagues, people don’t ask you what you want. It shows the scary side of humanity. It’s easy to be brave behind a keyboard. Music is a universal language. Every culture has music and even deaf people can feel bass frequencies. I’m 56 and when I grew up in the 70’s it was a handful of record producers who decided what bands got contracts and air play. With the internet we can see musicians from all over the world, enjoy the diversity and learn new styles. One of my brothers was a studio drummer and I grew up listening to him practice and he was into everything because it was a chance to practice and get gigs and make connections. It could be gospel, metal, country, jazz, disco, but he was mainly interested in progressive bands. If it matters I’m white and my favorite drummer is Carter Beauford! Check out his video for Tripping Billies from Under The Table and Drumming. He’s left handed but he plays a right handed kit and he plays open so he has a lot of possibilities! As far as metal you might like Mike Portnoy or Aquiles Priester or Fumiya of a Japanese metal band called Unlucky Morpheus. There’s a Japanese jazz fusion drummer named Senri Kawaguchi whose nickname is The Smiling Assassin because every time she nails a complicated bar she smiles. Check out a video she did where she’s at the Zildian Factory. Neil Peart of Rush passed away last year and his kit was part electronic and part acoustic and there’s a video called Der Trommler that’s his 9 minute drum solo from their 40 year concert tour. His nickname is The Professor. As far as jazz if you want speed check out Dennis Chambers! You can’t even see his arms move! Tony Royster Jr. Is incredible for overall speed, timing, volume control, every dimension! All of Frank Zappa’s drummers, Vinnie Colaiuta, Chad Wackerman and Terry Bozzio, are just several levels beyond anything Earthly! I’m mentioning these people not to try to convert you to a new style of playing, or offering more content, but as you said music is a universal language and it has a lot of dimensions and a lot of accents and looking at these other people might give you ideas. Neil was known as the most technically proficient percussionist throughout the 70’s and 80’s and to watch him was like watching a robot. The thing was, that kind of performance caused pain and one night he saw Steve Smith from Journey and Jean-Luc Ponty and Steve looked very relaxed and Neil asked him about it and Steve said he had started taking lessons from Freddie Gruber who was a jazz drummer back in the day, he was also a roommate of Buddy Rich at one point, and Freddie gave him lessons to play traditional grip so Neil started taking lessons from Freddie and it helped him play more relaxed. No matter how good you are, there’s always something more you can learn or do to be better, even if it’s just to make yourself more comfortable 2 hours a night or delay the onset of arthritis or scoliosis.

I'm typing this out as I watch your video so it might seemed jumbled. Dude you're just real so I'll always be a fan. The copyright strikes are REAL on YT so you always have to be careful and I hope you keep up the work. Fuck that guy who thinks black people or just anyone who isn't white cant love metal. Metal is metal and just like any type of music it speaks for everyone and can connect with anyone. Hell if anything I want more people that aren't white to love metal because it just means there's more people enjoying metal. Sorry about your dad he sounds like a good man. Fully support you getting some extra $ so you can keep pumping out these videos.
Change of topic but I'd be interested in what you think of Heilung which means healing. They do old pagan Scandinavian music, a lot of their songs are in dead languages and they crafted a lot of their instruments and outfits. I wouldn't said their drum style is the most complex but listening to them live like hits a primal part of the soul.

Im super grateful for your words and your support. Thank you so much for this. And i couldn't agree more! Also heilung sounds pretty interesting. Ill have to look into this actually. I sleep to solfeggio frequencies so i believe in music having the power to affect positive change in the body.

@@DrumlionMusic I would actually like to 2nd Heilung. I use it as meditation music before I do any rituals/spiritual acts but their CD's are no where near their live stuff. You can really feel the power coming off the music with their live act and the LIFA show (which the whole thing is on CZcams in their Channel) is one of the most powerful performance's I've ever seen and it was the first time they performed live. They also have human remains in their production which is just metal as fuck if you ask me.

Hey man, discovered you yesterday under Danny Carey, have watched many of his reactions, yours was my favorite. I will comment under that video shortly. Re the above, there is of course a massive trend of black people reacting to "white music" (their label not mine). Trending hard past two years, genuine by many, but clearly fake by many others. The huge positive, in an environment of the worst racial divide I've ever seen in this country, (all being manufactured and created on the left side of the political spectrum as a primary thrust of their platform) is that it is hopefully helping to ease that a bit. White people right now feel under attack, and as Officer Tatum expressed just this week, he has seen substantially more hate directed towards whites by blacks, than the reverse...all while whites are being called racist, and demanding that they been seen as racist.
It is a deranged state of affairs; again the left and overwhelmingly left-controlled media is determined to manufacture and reinforce this, because it effectively divides us, especially based on what I just stated about what the reality of the situation is. Having been non-partisan my entire life (even used to lean left, hated the Bush's with a passion for instance), I now lean pretty hard right because of it, and as a very social person, know tons of white rightys; not one of which...not one...of which is racist towards blacks.
    *At all*
And yet our culture is saturating us with the notion that that isn't how things are. Instead, they're trying to convince us that their version of reality is the correct one. And they manipulate, skew and omit what's needed in order to maintain that disgusting narrative.
I _do_ believe there is a significant cultural difference that needs to be openly addressed and dealt with. But I don't know how that's going to happen. If it can, it will ease things tremendously between the races. I watch Candace Owens, Amala Ekpunobi, Anthony Brian Logan, Officer Tatum and Black Conservative Perspective on a regular basis.
I'm a huge jazz fan also btw, and about 80's (Edit; I meant "80%") of my faves are black. And also a life-long college football and NFL fan, 75% of the league is black.
You're an extremely likable person as far as youtubers go. Part of YT means you have to deal with haters. I had a presence on YT way back when the platform started (before they put ads on, lol...anyone remember those days?) where I had a substantial following and people knew who I was on the street (channel is no longer active). 90% of my followers were "fans," 10% haters. At first the haters really got to me. Within a year, I got to the point where I could've cared less, they were literally completely irrelevant. A good hint is that a great many of them are just kids, and many of them are just troubled people that ya can't get uptight about because they're struggling and lashing out at you/me.
Cheers, going to comment under your Danny video now. Keep movin forward, great stuff!

To be honest if it was my channel, I wouldn't even make this kind of video, or maybe just say some things of explanation in the first video and that's it, but I understand that you wanted to clarify some things, I respect that. What I mean is you do your shit, your way, and if your channel gets bigger in the future there will be more idiots whining about something or making some stupid comments about race or shit. Just do your thing and the best will stay, others will find fake ass reactors that they will like more and that's ok.

Trust me, I was commuting home from college the other night and thought long and hard about whether or not I should do this video. I decided to do it because I wanted to be transparent to my audience. I know I cant address every single negative incident that happens (and trust me there was more that happened in the past that I didnt even get into), but I at least wanted to give an overview at least once on my channel about my guidelines, expectations, and to also show my love and appreciation for my audience that comes through to support me.

First I have to say I'm sorry for the loss of your father. I can tell he meant a lot to you and to have lost him in such a fucked up manner is just plan wrong. Secondly music is for everyone. If someone's race barred someone from enjoying music I could never enjoy jazz, rock and roll and rap. Music speaks to your soul it doesn't speak to your skin color, nationality or gender. I absolutely hate that mentality with metal music and I feel like it comes up more with metal. Metal is about being raw, aggressive, violent, unleashing something and none of that deals with someone's skin color. Jesus that shit pisses me off. I'm also a Heathen, worship of Norse Gods, and that bullshit is prevalent in that also which sickens me. The Gods care about character not something as petty like that. Either way I'm a fan of you for life because you like the music I like and you like seem like someone I'd want to know. If you ever want to review some really crazy weird underground shit just ask and I'll happily supply some for it.
