- Ok, bad news is that Prince Julius didn’t really see fit to show off today. I did spend some quality one on one time with him though.
Good news is that I was able to figure out how to merge three videos together, and two of them at least were using the device that makes videos a bit smoother.
Ode was great as always, Cosmo the cat was interested in the e horse treats, and made his opinions clear!

James, we Friesian Horse subscribers dont need an action packed video at all, in fact almost the opposite, lol! We have fallen in love with the simple beauty of the Friesian horse and the tranquility of everyday life at Stal G & H. We love the beauty of the countryside, seeing the horses grazing in the meadows. You dont have to worry about entertaining us every minute! We're relaxed and easy, we really are!

Yes, there was definitely understanding in those eyes. Aaahhh, precious boy, so far away from all he has known.
Sad seeing this. So much to learn seeing all his ribs hips and withers with his desire to graze would have looked better and he might have enjoyed himself more turned out into a pasture instead of a dust bowl. Mud is ok. Water is good and needs to be plentiful while feeding dry hay grain and treats. Julius is well trained but you are not. It's not bad if he rolls in mud or dirt. Part of how horses enjoy life. Notice his ears went back in the stall when you stopped feeding him treats. Hand feeding his ears are forward and he is looking forward to the treats. When treats are gone his ears went back again. Beware you could be inadvertantly teaching him a bad habit to bite.
We are very happy to watch Prince Julian just chilling!
If you don't give a cat the attention they want they will get it with their "Murder Mittens".
Julius thinks he's the boss. Friesians have a very strong herding instinct. They love to be in a group, other horses or people. Most of us could watch Julius just stand there for as long as he wants to.

Get an empty tennis ball can or empty coffee can and put dried beans or pebbles. Give it a shake and he might begin trotting around. Yvonne uses something similar when she needs the Horses to get up and go

If you're interested in seeing what kind of horse his mother was, go to the Friesian channel and look up "Love at first sight". Uniek had just had a stillborn foal and another mare in the area died shortly after giving birth. It's decided to see if Uniek will accept the orphaned colt, obviously not a Friesian, as her own even though the chances are almost nonexistent of this happening. It's very touching and shows the strong maternal bond very few mares have. I fell in love with Uniek because of this post.

Horses love to just hang out and enjoy the sun. They aren’t always wild when let out. His calm demeanor just matched the morning. The “catipuncture” looked uncomfortable! The cats I watch all love “temptations” brand cat treats, kind of like cat crack, lol.

Goedzo means “good job” or “well done.” Braaf means “good boy/girl.” So it is used in the context that we in English would verbally praise our pets. Hope that make sense. 🧡🧡

Great job!! Goedzo! Braaf is pronounced like a ladies bra but with an F on the end… but really drag out the 2 A‘s. And Queen Uniek is pronounced as in unique. Prince Julius follows you in the arena because he looks to you as the leader. You could walk all over that arena when he’s in there and he would probably follow you everywhere. James, your doing great job with the videos. No worries. And Queen Uniek loved being rubbed on her forehead and face too. Mostly scratching her neck though is really what she loved. Not all horses likes to be touched in the face area until they get used to you. But some never do like it. It’s almost like invading their space. Also, be careful giving some Cosmo cat treats. Sometimes it will cause kidney stones. Ask me how I know😢. But you’re doing great. Keep up the great work. LOVE Prince Julius! ❤️🐴💙🐴❣️❣️

Horses generally don’t much like their lovely soft noses being touched but they like having their foreheads scratched and their necks rubbed firmly. You can count on Julius being gentle

@@pipemma1893 Yvonne raised Julius and she always pets them that way from birth. The Friesians of Stahl G and Stahl H are all socialized from birth. Yvonne was there when Uniek was born and there when Uniek had Julius. He is used to the head caressing.

I've seen Yvonne swish her jacket or keys or whistle to encourage the horses to run around. Maybe you can arrange to have him outside with one of his buddies too. She gives them a ball every now and then too.

Cosmo probably wants some fish treats, but you know, cats eat grass to get hairballs out of their systems, so maybe he really likes a few horse treats as well? He might think they're medicine? Julius already seems to know the english word "Treats"!
From what I've seen on the Friesian horse channel, is you can stand outside the ring and make some noises to get them excited and to run around the ring a bit. Kind of like a clicking of your tongue or crinkling a plastic bag a bunch. I think Yvonne usually rubs her hand back and forth really fast on her jacket to make the noise or intentionally shuffles her feet really fast to not really spook the horses but to just get them to move a bit.
If you're in the ring with him like that he's gonna think it's treat time! He definitely won't leave you alone if he thinks there are treats xD

We like him being a horse, how many changes has he been thru over 6 months ? He is establishing new relationships, new language. You are learning. So I think it was a great video.

Difficult to pronounce the G as we Dutchies do but even so, well done! Maybe to get him running you could try : Kom op of Rennen maar, the Dutch word for running is ren or rennen.
This made me giggle and smile! I’ve never had a horse but I’ve followed Yvonne and Stahl 15:58 G & Stahl H long enough to know that Friesans can act like big Labrador dogs. Julius’ mom (mem), Uniek (pronounced unique) was all about food and treats too. He wasn’t going to go far from the guy handing out the treats! 😊 And I think a horse knows when you don’t want them to roll…which is the perfect time to roll! A dirty, muddy horse is usually a very happy horse. ❤🐴

Run = "draf", it sort of sounds like "fluff", it means trot. Your trees in America are spectacular, and your grass looks rather dry, like our Highveld grass in South Africa. When you scratch his neck, REALLY scratch it, otherwise it tickles/ feels like a fly bite. When you hit the spot, their lips quiver, their eyes go dreamy and they'll sometimes lean the other way, offering their favourite spot for you to scratch more!
If you watch horses groom each other (that shows friendship/ love to each other/ herd dynamics), they use their teeth and nibble each other.
Julius might try to groom you which is always funny 😁

I hope no one gives you a hard time, this is all new to you as well. Learning curve, it’s all good. Clicking the tongue may help with direction on him. Yvonne would make a noise that would get them to move. Like hand rubbing a nylon jacket, or a crinklie bag. More a noise than a word. He is beautiful and we love anything you will post.

Hi great channel loving seeing Uniek's son Julius..I hope you don't mind my asking but does he need to gain some weight..you can see his ribs. Although we are used to watching mares with big baby bellys 😅😅
We are working on this. He is getting some extra food and supplement’s.
We had a really cold winter. Eating a weight gaining supplement along with his food so he can gain a few extra pounds
Goedzo to you for using the Dutch terms Julius is used to. Braaf is pronounced with the "ah" sound! And, you also could teach Julius English by using English words following the Dutch words. He will learn what you mean. For the cat, mine always loved freeze dried chicken, but any store bought treat would be fine with Cosmo.
