  • Wall Control pegboard panels are one of my favorite products around the shop. In this video I unbox and set up some panels in my garage. I use a variety of hooks and accessories, some made by Wall Control, and some by 3rd parties.
    Note that this video was NOT sponsored by Wall Control. I paid for everything myself. I have since joined their affiliate program and will list links below that I earn a small commission on if you use them. Note that some of the other links are affiliate links as well.

    I have 5 red panels with hooks in my mancave (bikes/carpentry/metal/truck/yard) over my work bench and it is awesome. ❤

    Yeah, I followed your advice and ordered a discounted set of "scratch and dent" product from a site online. It is a good deal, so I don't regret it too much no matter what. But two days later, I see a video for the Omni Wall system which mounts to a track, allowing for installation in tight spaces, and mounts vertically or horizontally. Very convenient. The weight limit might be decreased with the extra cuts, but it's probably still stronger than particle board.

      I wasn’t aware that scratch and dent was a thing! Maybe you saw that in someone else’s video. Sounds cool though. Want to share the link for anyone else looking to save some $$ that doesn’t mind getting a blemished product?
      I’ve seen omniwall, but haven’t used it. Being able to mount it vertical or horizontal seems like it’s biggest strength. It looks like more of a pain to install with the track system. The hooks being multi piece kinda struck me as inferior to wall control, but hard to say without actually trying it. If you end up getting it, I’d love to hear how your experience compares to wall control.

      @@MostlyBuilds I think I have enough with 8 panels of this, so I won't be reviewing it. I have a small area of around 42" on one side of the garage that I can put two sheets (2 x 16") in, but I don't know if I can hit studs at the corners. I like the rail hanging idea of the other system and might have to do something like that with this. It will just take some cutting and drilling.
      BTW, I meant that I followed your advice and got the Wall Control system, but I got it from that site that sells scratch and dent.

      Ah gotcha. My bad. Feel free to share the scratch and dent website for others.
      In case this helps, I have another video where I helped a friend install wall control panels on a concrete wall in his basement. We put wood 2x4s up kind of like a track so we would have flexibility with putting the panels up + avoid having to drill more holes in the concrete. Might give you some ideas for your install even though you aren’t doing it on concrete: czcams.com/video/NMmDj9KKr1g/video.html
      Anyway, good luck with the project!

      @@MostlyBuilds The name of the site is cheap pegboard, without a space. They won't let me post it, but I'm sure you can find it.

    So did you give Omniwall any consideration when you made your decision? Very similar, and also has hooks that don't come out with little pegs that hold them in place. From what I can tell it's a bit more expensive, but not sure which product is really better.

    • @MostlyBuilds
      @MostlyBuilds  Před rokem +4

      I did. I’ve never seen the omniwall product in person, so my opinions are based on CZcams videos that I watched about it + their website. I’m not a huge fan of how you mount them with brackets that you attach the panels to. I also wasn’t super into their multi-piece hooks. The whole system just looks more complicated. On the flip side, it seems more flexible since it looks like you can mount the panels in any orientation, versus wall control you need to either buy vertical or horizontal panels. I like the simplicity of the wall control panels. You probably can’t go wrong with either of them. If you decide to go with omniwall I’d love to hear what your experience is like!

    And if you need more hooks you can run to the store and grab some you have to order them and if they go out of business, well say no more.... Looks like a great product, but I would got with the traditional peg board and hooks that I can buy anywhere.

    What is this thing with CZcamsrs and unnecessarily use of gloves? Take it up one notch and slurp coffee throughout too.

      Hah. Guilty as charged! Generally I like keeping my hands free of oil and grease. Or for electronics work I want to keep the oils from my hands off of what I’m working on. But I prob overdo it compared to the average guy.
      For this particular video it was super cold out there in my garage, so grabbing the metal panels without gloves would have been no fun. Those gloves are waterproof fleece lined work gloves. Highly recommend: amzn.to/49jxqAX
