Even though Georgia has always had the best intentions for her kids, we really have to look at it from Ginny’s perspective being a kid who has no idea what’s going on but has to experience the fall out of her mom’s traumatic experiences with zero context. That creates PTSD in a child.

@@debbiep2813 A child's behavior is a reflection of the parents parenting. Georgia had always treated Ginny as her best friend. She never established any boundaries with Ginny. Never let Ginny know when her behavior is too far or unacceptable. That's because Georgia is still immature herself established many times in the show and especially too Ginny (throwing the food out and flipping her off). Georgia doesn't have a normal parental attitude so in return she lets Ginny do and act whatever. Again how is Ginny supposed to know when she's gone to far and acted too disrespectful if Georgia has never previously told her. Georgia treats her as a friend so in return Ginny does the same
I see why y'all say stuff Abt ginny but this season I feel like she was reasonable. And her not telling Georgia was not something to get annoyed at her Abt bc Georgia doesn't believe in therapy 🙄and she does the most tbh
Exactly, people need to understand that a parent wanting to do anything for you does not mean that a kid cannot have feelings/trauma around their parents. This season did a good job of highlighting what I personally see as Georgia's parenting weaknesses (overreactions, dismissing feelings, control, etc.) that causes Ginny to act/feel the way she does.
Some of y’all forget Ginny is a teenager and unnecessarily hate on her too much. The poor child has PTSD
I feel like Ginny gets so much unnecessary hate from people who watch this show😭 yeah she's dramatic, but she gets it from Georgia. She's already a teenager with "normal" teenage problem that are already overwhelming +metal health struggles+never having stability+never building any real connections until now+finding out her mom unalived someone+her parents getting her hopes up all the time that they'll be together+her mom lying about her family being dead+her credit getting f***ed up+everything with Austin+Georgia teaching her very unhealthy ideals her whole life (maybe unintentionally) because she's always had to survive. And that's not even all of it😭 that definitely creates a lot of trauma and distrust with her mom, so I think she's mostly justified for the way she reacts
Also I love Georgia down and imma stick beside her, but I hope she does get the therapy she so obviously needs. Her trauma runs DEEP and she is passing that on to her kids.

This! Georgie’s doesn’t realize that everything she does as a parent…..impacts her kids to. Her purchasing credit cards in Ginny and Austin’s names pretending to be them (which is fraud) is gonna hurt their credit because when Ginny and Austin turn 18, and try to apply for credit cards…..they’re gonna be screwed due to Georgia. Georgia killing Kenny, and probably Anthony Green, as well as Cynthia’s husband….even though she had her reasons, she still killed and that could put her into jail (which it did) we also can’t forget that she’s been on the run for so long….that’s setting a bad example for her kids because it’s teaching them that if things start to go wrong even just a bit, to run away from your problems instead of trying to face them. Yes Georgia went through so much when she was younger, but she’s an adult now……she’s not a teenager so she doesn’t have to keep doing those things that she used to do. I mean you said it to, she’s passing her own trauma down to her kids and Ginny being that she’s going through racial barrier issues….she’s got it just as bad, if not worse than Georgia.
I mean c'mon learning that your mother is a murderer is a lot to take in. She just learned someone she trusts and feel safe around is actually capable of murder. The season 2 opener showed that Ginny was having trouble feeling safe around her after learning that. It's easy for the viewers to rationalize Georgia's murder but an actual fifteen year old learning that their mom killed somebody but was capable as passing it off as a freak accident and act completely normal would be a tough pilled to swallow. Also you don't think throwing out out all the food just to stick it to your daughter and flip her of when you have a whole other kid isn't bad parenting?
Omg I also had the exact thought that Georgia overacts which usually is annoying but it’s actually great in this show

So many people wanna hate on Ginny for literally acting like a damn teenager when I’m sure most of us (for those of us who aren’t teens anymore) acted that same way when we were teens. We wanna deny it because seeing someone act like a teenager on tv, and of course making it more dramatic……is cringey. We can’t handle seeing how we probably acted when we act like teenagers, so we try to act like we never did any of that. I know so many people who I went to high school with who hated just like Ginny and even Max, if not more dramatic than them…..and they all try to deny ever acting like that because they’re embarrassed to see how they would’ve actually looked.

Exactly…..not to mention Ginny is biracial, and both Georgia and Austin are white, while Zion is black but he’s not around very often. So Ginny has to go through all of the unnecessary racial injustice on her own.

Me too... And I don't get it either.. I feel like most people as in the audience keep justifying Georgia's actions and I mean I get it she has good intentions but that's no excuse for the dysfunctional life she has them kids living. She needs to get therapy and stop with all the extra stuff

edit: just saw her next video and she suddenly likes ginny now, most likely swayed by the comments and realized it isn't the popular opinion anymore. so glad i watched this without outside opinions to really grasp both sides.

The first therapist I went to was in high school and i was a reserved kid so talking to a stranger was hard for me and there were things I didn’t want to talk about and she wouldn’t prompt me either so we’d literally sit in silence for half the session and I kept going to her for a while bc I didn’t know it wasn’t supposed to be that way. Found a good one I still see after that but that first lady can play in traffic like how gross to take the money from a session with a troubled teen but not actually try to help her bc shes uncomfortable and not used to talking about how she feels
As much as I love Georgia, she is really immature.

This season reminded me SO MUCH of euphoria:
- Ginny has actual problems, like Rue.
- Ginny vs Max = Maddie vs Cassie
- other reasons that aren't at the top of my head atm 💀 but yea
Ginny is not like rue, rue is like that because she lost her dad and Ginny is like that because of her mom lacking emotional and not real listening to her. The only thing they have in common is that they both mixed/biracial

I think the thing with dating someone's siblings/family member was handled better in Derry Girls. In the newer season the character James like this other character Erin, and she likes him back, but his cousin Michelle is against it because if they don't work out, that's her cousin and she has to take his side no matter what even though Erin is her best friend and she doesn't want to be torn in the middle. I think with Max she must feel like Ginny used her to get close to her brother and even if that wasn't the case, she kept it a secret from her and she cheated on her friend. It's a whole mess and something that would divide the friend group... Though I don't see that friend group making it too far.

I get that you really only payed attention to Georgia for this first episodes but Ginny is really going through hell. She just trusted someone with the fact that she harms herself and now the person she trusted is going to tell the person she doesn't trust. Ginny is terrified and justifingly so. If I found out my mother was a murderer I wouldn't wanna be around her for a certain period of time either. Even if it was for me. Because now I am the cause of peoples deaths. While yes Ginny is a brat, she is a brat that deserves to have her feelings acknowledged.

Do I have to watch season 1 to understand season 2. Ginny was annoying in season 1 so I stopped watching, but I heard season 2 was good.
