      @@lyonessjudah5313 when I first started using henna - which was about 11 years ago - I had used it once a month for about 4 to 6 months then would do it once every 3 months. But every head of hair is different and we never know how our skin/body will react to something new. With that being said, I definitely suggest being cautious and always do a patch test first. I went gung-ho when I first started which wasn’t smart and thankfully I had no reaction to it. Health and safety always comes first even with anything that’s natural. I suggest looking at HennaSooq’s CZcams Channel as Khadijah has a wealth of information for first time henna users. Hope this helps a little 😊

I just started using herbs in my hair like 3 days ago and I'm so excited to continue with this new addition of ayurvedic haircare. I do have another question, lol. I used henna as a gloss and included amla and moringa in it as well. Since I'm using my dc as a base and just adding in the herbs, is it safe to use every week on wash day? Also, I made a tea and included henna. I plan to spray my scalp and hair every other day. Is that considered too much henna if I use it in both my dc and tea?

      @ProudMane  Před 3 lety

      Hey curl friend! You can add indigo to your henna mask to combat the greys turning orange or copper. Or you could sub henna for cassia if you don't wanna deal with it altogether. I also have high porosity fine hair and I use henna.

    • @fayedixon677
      @fayedixon677 Před 9 měsíci

      I have 4c fine hair and a couple of gray strands in the front of my hair. I use henna, it turns the 3 or 4 gray strands orange. I use the indigo powder right after rinsing out the henna treatment. The indigo powder treatment will turns all of my hair including the gray hair a dark black. So yes, you can use henna on gray fine strands. @@ProudMane

    I also have another question, I use the Nupur henna that's combined with the other herbs. Since it's combined, do you still suggest doing the mask once a month? Even though more herbs are combined, I still add in more amla, aloe vera powder and moringa. Last night was the first time using straight powder without a deep conditioner. I typically add my herbs to my dc every week and do a gloss. Since I typically do a gloss every week, would the incorporation of the full henna every month be beneficial? Or should I not do the gloss and just do full henna treatments once a month? I hope that I didn’t confuse you, lol.

    Fantastic advice. I love henna. Love your style, succinct, informative yet quirky and amusing. Thank you. Just to confirm. Wait 2 hours with mixture and apply to freshly washed hair and leave in 5 hours and then rinse out and apply deep conditioner?

    • @ProudMane
      @ProudMane  Před 3 lety +7

      Thank you so much! You can let the dye sit for 2-4 hours. I know that some people like to let it sit for 8 hours or even overnight, but I find it's not necessary. Even if you were to "prematurely" apply this to your hair it will eventually release the dye once applied to your hair. Add the oil/conditioner ONLY once ready to use, if you add it before the dye might take longer to release as the oils might inhibit that. Yes, apply to freshly washed hair and leave it in your hair for 2-4 hours. I left it in for 5 that day just because, lol. I have slept with it in my hair overnight before. Once you rinse it out go in with a deep condition and rinse that out. no shampoo.

    Hi! :) I was wondering what do you use to shampoo your hair and do you use any leave in conditioner after you wash your mask out? Thank you!! :)

    • @ProudMane
      @ProudMane  Před 3 lety +4

      Hey! I use the Jamaican black castor oil to cleanse my hair thoroughly after the mask (about 3 washes) then a 4th wash with the 100% virgin coconut oil daily hydration shampoo. Both from shea moisture. The latter is hydrating and replenishes moisture to my hair even though it is a shampoo. For leave in I use shea moisture Jamaican black castor oil. It's my fave! Hope this helps.

    Question, has Henna elongated your curly pattern any? It has literally straightened the front of my hair and the top is still kinky. Now I have multitextured hair . I believe I was using it too oftenly. Smh . Do you know how I can fix this ?

    • @ProudMane
      @ProudMane  Před 2 lety

      Yes henna definitely loosened my curl pattern which is why I only do it 4 times per year. Every 3 months. I used it on my daughter and the same thing happened. I used the raw aloe plant for 2 months consistently on her hair and her curls came back like they never left. Also if u add amla to you henna mask it will aid in combating the loosening effect of the henna. Try these.

    • @ProudMane
      @ProudMane  Před 3 lety +3

      1. To prevent the mask from touching and staining things and 2. To trap the heat and allow it to penetrate more effectively.

    • @os4305

      It has the ability to. If you wish to keep your curl pattern intact, add Zizyphus or Amla to your Henna treatment.

    Wouldn't I be able to use it more frequently since they are other herbal remedies besides henna ? Wouldn't the potency of henna be diluted because of the other herbs?

    • @ProudMane
      @ProudMane  Před 3 lety +2

      I don't think the henna is "diluted" due to the addition of other herbs. They're aren't many herbs that can match or overpower the strength or potency of henna. Plus I'm using henna as my base. The quantity is much greater than the other herbs. Adding the other herbs can make a difference but in my opinion it would not overpower the potency of the henna. Hope this helps.

    What shampoo did you use to wash it out because most shampoos will strip away everything the mask did right?

    • @ProudMane
      @ProudMane  Před 3 lety +4

      I use Jamaican black castor oil from the shea moisture line. The shampoos won't strip away the henna mask. The henna has already bonded to the hair shafts.
