I also remember Reece's (not made by nestle, but part of their competition) peanut butter cups having an ad campaign for many years that you could eat it any way you want, and their commercials would be things like dracula saying he likes to suck out their insides first, and them showing a peanut butter cup with 2 vampire fang marks in it at the end of the commercial. It seems to me, that is a pretty decent campaign, that they be accepting of their customers' idiosyncrasies and open to any way they want to eat their candy. So it seems counterproductive that their competitor would take the exact opposite stance there.

Saying "no pets allowed" about the family of rats is actually pretty reasonable. The rats in the photo look like "fancy rats", which were bred as pets. Wild rats tend to be plain grey or brown, in order to blend in with their surroundings, while "fancy rats" have all sorts of different colors. I can sort of understand the weird mental process that happens when rural areas are associated with the larger political polity, like a state, but big cities feel - and often act - like they're independent city-states on the same level as the poltical polity surrounding them, or should be. Going outside of the city really can feel like going to a different culture or country, distinct enough to cause culture shock and sometimes the labels fall "wider, rural, vaguely defined "state"" and "city".
It's a common form of subconscious classism, but I, who live in South Africa, often hear people say, unironically, that they're "going to Africa for a holiday", by which they mean going to the less developed areas/countries where poorer people live, distinct from the bubble which is their everyday first world experience.

And I don't trust the word of health "experts" who deliberately hid safety data and embarked on outright smear campaigns against anyone who questioned the efficacy or safety of these experimental treatments.
