This was the correct move, Monty had 1 job either win games or develop the young players and he did neither.
Anyone against this move did not watch the Pistons. I don't blame you for not watching us, we STUNK. But Monty was a huge problem and made a pretty bad team nearly the worst of all time. He was playing KILLIAN HAYES 30 minutes a night on the regular. It was absolute basketball terrorism.

@price69420 The team was awful and Monty knew that. He was trying to tank so that y’all could potentially get more depth in the draft because your team is AWFUl and has been for almost 2 decades. 15-20 years not being good, not making playoffs, just being a total bottom of the barrel team. You blame that on one year of coaching just shows how shitty your team and franchise is and the lack of accountability on the players, team, and even the fans.
Using the lakers as a comparison, that team has won a championship in the last 4 years but before that hadn’t seen the playoffs in 6 -7 years. Those teams were built like the Pistons are now, young, no real cohesion, and no real engine to keep everything running. The lakers got Lebron , AD, and a bunch of big centers together and won one. Then used the core two players to continue to keep the team at least relevant and in the playoffs or play in. If they didn’t make actual moves and try to build a competitive team, then the lakers would be in the exact situation the pistons are now, laughing stock of the league that no one has taken seriously since the early 2000s.
@@kite36 what's funny is that we literally came in to this year wanting to win. or at least improve. this is a bad draft (for top end talent) so there was literally no incentive to tank. at all. we're this way because of organizational dysfunction and moving on from Monty is key. you saw what he did to ayton, right? well he did that to ivey but 10x worse because he was starting the literal worst player in basketball over ivey.
monty was not why the roster was bad, that's on troy and co. monty is why even a bad roster underachieved massively and you only need to look at our all bench lineups to see why he needed to go.

That’s a losers mentality. If a guy isn’t the right fit, you don’t let him continue to run your team into the ground especially when the players aren’t buying in. Of course they aren’t winning the title next season but it’ll take forever if you don’t cut your losses and regroup ASAP. If they know he’s the wrong guy and the owner is fine with paying him off then that’s a wise move

He’s AWFUL

They mentioned his wife dealing with Cancer. He likely got distracted. One wife died a while back in the car crash and now the new one has cancer she's battling. I know we all have problems to overcome, but it's a possible reason.
