This a true real life test. The dense urban environment was perfect for endless interference. Well done. The scary RTH moment is a good lesson for me, "Don't panic." One RTH press is sufficient.

Interferences can disrupt connection but it does not explain why the drone stopped the RTH and hovered for a couple of minutes.
I think it hovered because you accidentally cancelled the RTH by pressing the RTH button multiple times.

Yeah, @DroneVids, try flying over those open fields and you can see if DJI Mini SE can go further than 1.5 Km

RTH has been very reliable in my Mini 2 but your drone hovered there for a minute and a half. That's pretty scary. I'm glad it woke up and returned! Scary!
I know, right? My Mini SE is not as expensive as your Mini 2 but still scary to lost such a valuable tool/toy.
Dude it only happened cuz he pressed the Rth button multiples times. Do that with the mini 2 and the same thing happens

@@dosomestuff1949 You could be right. There's really no reason to press it more than once because it starts beeping. RTH is super reliable on the Mini 2.

its actually pretty good distance...I don't have the mini but I do have the Mavic Air 2 and I can fly any direction for 1500 feet without leaving my bed! DJI signals are actually very good!
its unsettling when RC looses signal but need to trust the technology and not panic. I agree with below that you likely cancelled out RTH by pressing the buttons to often

I didn't. Now, I have app for that. I will upload my flight data in video overlay.
Do you fly with the Auto setting on the Channel Mode? Try theManual and pick the channel with less interference

yeah for sure, How far did it go? You should use the screen mirror on your phone so the viewer could see all of the flight data. And when your drone loses connection to the RC don't touch any buttons or you could easily lose your drone. The fail safe RTH kicks in automatically and the drone will RTH. You possibly hit the pause button that's why it just sat there. If the drone was low on power you would have lost it. I'm glad it all turned out well in the end. Well done thumbs up. Fly safe as you are. 👍

Have you tried adding any range extenders??
I guess I do not really need range extenders as I am satisfied to fly within 500 meters. I just did it to feel the range of this drone.

This is a worthy entry level drone ever! If you have more budget go for DJI Mini 2 as well.

@@Valkyrie35 Adrenalin rush is sweet (sometimes). Also, make sure you have set the right height when RTH. to avoid potential obstacles. (trees, towers, etc)

Oh yeah. But the drone should have enough battery power to go home. At 30% battery level (no strong wind against home direction) it still can make it home.

By pressing the RTH button, you cancled the RTH thats why..
Where were you positioned while controlling the drone? When you are behind a house, it can block the rc signal.
Yeah that is true. VLOS is the most effective way to fly.
So where were you standing while operating the drone?

@@dronevids1611 I got the mini se for a few things. Job site fly overs for new construction for new home owners. Also inspections so we don't have to go on the roofs anymore till fixing time. Also got it just for fun as well.

Do same test with booster antennas and/or yagis, you should go farther, also you could go a little more higher to avoid Wifi interferences coming from houses below

If you did not pass on that open park, you may not get the 1 Km due to household wifi signals.

My mini se I fly in neighborhoods exactly like this too! I use a parabolic reflector and The 5.8 yagi as well, and still get terrible range. Any tips,?

It supposed to have lesser flying time at that temp. How long you able to fly it?
GPS signal loss could lead to the drone landing where ever it's hovering isn't it?
You are correct. So, when battery got depleted it will force to land wherever it happened.
@@dronevids1611 I dont understand, your flight area dont hv any tall trees or buildings, how can the signal be lost so soon? Mini SE are designed to go around 4 km

That was my first range test try. I forgot to record my screen. I've never experienced RTH outside VLOS before.
