Ella was a wonderful woman. I had the pleasure of hearing her sing with Count Basie on the piano...in my neighbor's living room! her voice was angelic! Count and Ella were very gracious and truly joyous people.
Ella !!! My Goddess ! When I listen to her most beautiful and unique voice, I have the goosebumps. To me she was the best and will always be. I miss her, terribly. Thank you so much for sharing these precious moments.
I could not agree more... she was, my and still is my favourite female singer within jazz.. her performance with Mel Torme ,, Goose bumps galore... Harvey Perkoff
I saw Ella in L.A. at the Music Center sometime ago matbe more than 20 years ago. She sang wonderfully, but even then she was a double-amputee as a result of diabetes. So sad. @@harveyperkoff6325
With Louis, these two were the best Scat singers ever. Saw Mel live in Manchester, UK in fifties when I was just 16 and he was wonderful. All my mates were into R and Roll but I was jazz mad and already playing drums in local gigs. Mel played piano and drums and he was a really good drummer as some videos on CZcams will show.
Glad I got to see both of them in concert while they were still around. Ella was amazing in 1983, but had faded quite a bit by the time I saw her a second (and last) time in 1988. Torme, however, was in top form right up until the stroke that ended his career. He somehow seemed to get better with age.
Not enough accolades could describe this video. There is another video of Mel Torme and Buddy Rich doing "Love For Sale" which also honors this genre of the music I love.
I know im randomly asking but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot my login password. I love any tips you can give me
@Gannon Jedidiah i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Could anyone explain who is the person who votes Thumbs Down for this video? Ella könnte mir die Gebrauchsanweisung für einen Mixer vorsingen und es wäre eine wunderbare Erfahrung
Rick and morty episode 'rick is too smart for school': I said that the rest of your schoolfriends are stupid thats not how you learn Things forgive the child he has a special mind he's doing great later in his life
Um, no, Ella is in a class all by herself, on the very top shelf and at the front of the line. Everyone else takes a back seat to her including Mel. Enjoy him, but he patterned his scat after Ella. Ella is the blueprint.
@@direfranchement No. I got it .... in it’s entirety. Fitzgerald knit the original pattern for scat. Torme then came along a matched her note for note. (Surely you understand that) and if there is a differing opinion (surely you would respect that also.) 👍
Great singers..... their scat: in comparable. Nothing like them today,,,June 2024
When they asked Dizzy Gillespie to describe Ella Fitzgeralds talent his reply was "man I can't see that far".
What a beautiful answer !
The 2 greatest singers EVER!!!!! This pair were made in Heaven!!! And were meant for each other!!! I wish I could have seen them LIVE!!!!!
Ella and Mel were in this world, but their talent was out of this world! Two giants of jazz!
Geweldig ❤
My words exactly.
Ella was a wonderful woman. I had the pleasure of hearing her sing with Count Basie on the piano...in my neighbor's living room! her voice was angelic! Count and Ella were very gracious and truly joyous people.
Ella's my favorite singer of all time! ❤

I so agree she is In A elite group of artist
Yes indeed. That distinctly sweet voice. Mel and Ella - - - does it get any better!
Yes indeed, Ella's voice was so, so unmistakebly Ella. Up to the very end she had it all.

multi talented....George Benson is the same!
These are artists. Long live Ella and Mel.
Mel Torme and Ella Fitzgerald. WOW! American classics and I hope younger generations will have opportunities to appreciate it all...

dont need instruments when you've got 2 voices like that. Mel Torme is extremely underrated as a singer an scat artist
I can imagine God comfortably seated enjoying the 1-derful talent He gave this couple of colossal artists, oh my, such a pleasure !!!
I was thinking that Ella was singing up there, and the welcoming on leaving this earth. 👍✨🕊✨
Not the first lady of jazz, Ella Fitzgerald is The First Lady Of Song.
... Song, period!
Well it just goes to show we as a planet are regressing musically, it's sad it really is.
My thoughts entirely. She was just sensational. Managed to see her twice at the Manchester FreeTrade Hall.
Thank God , we can still hear and be lifted, by a utube such as this one of Ella, and Mel. ✨🕊✨
Two of the best of the best.
Yes indeed!

Three occasions only that Ella performed with Mel Torme 1961 The Gary Moore Show, 1976 Grammys as presenters, 1989 The First Ella Awards
Love It

@Gannon Jedidiah it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my ass !
@Rylan Kody Happy to help :)
There was only one Ella. Always blissful, Perfection.
Two greats
Folks, note that they're doing this on regular mics. Incredible.
thank u
These two are beyond compare. Was lucky enough to see Mel a few times in concert but never Ella. One of my great disappointments.
Everything he got it was from her that what y’all do
I got to see Ella but not Mel Torme.
@@jenniferfiler945 Someone has to clean it up after you screw it up!
she is great!
Queen of Jazz 🎺 Top Class Genius
Ella...first Lady of jazz....Bravo
I'm in heaven ❤❤
The best !!!
Other-wordly Scat!
Larisa Renee and Alan Reid are also excellent! Two very fine singers to say the least!
Not in the same league (but then who was?). Any ideas why they were tacked on?
@@berylhart5365 Your guess is as good as mine.
There was Ella... and way way farther down that mountain was everyone else.
Sarah was right up there in my book.
эта певица на тысячилетия....слушала бы не прерываясь
King & Queen of Scat.
mel Torme was among a very few who could hold even with Ella.
Why don't we have amazing music and voices like this now 🤔
❤
They were both on an album of Barry mannilow. 12:01 AM paradise cafe. Great jazz album
Why is the drummer shirtless?
Omgoodness just seeing that. It must've gotten hot in there😂
Maybe lost a bet 😂
Yup
Wow... but who is Larissa?
Never heard her before but she's fantastic !!! And so is the guy who sang after her !!!
Could anyone explain who is the person who votes Thumbs Down for this video?
Ella könnte mir die Gebrauchsanweisung für einen Mixer vorsingen und es wäre eine wunderbare Erfahrung
The thumbs down are probably for the two random people singing in the latter part of the video.
My bad....it was my heartburn...and Jack my roommate ate all my hard candy
whose the session trumpet at the beginning?
NDR Radio Big Band Hamburg / Germany, The Studiosession 1974. Dusko Goykovic was the Trumpet Player.
Larisa Renee? Who is she, and why is she here after Ella and Mel?
재즈란말이죵~~?
Close 😉
That scat is the language of Extreterrestrials.
Rick and morty episode 'rick is too smart for school': I said that the rest of your schoolfriends are stupid thats not how you learn Things forgive the child he has a special mind he's doing great later in his life
And then these day they have Kanye west (or whatever his/her name is) the girl sings like a nightingale
Don't even mention that amateur in the same conversation with these two musical GIANTS!!!, a complete insult.
To think Mel willingly takes a back seat to Ella! There is no back seat between these two, they both front seat people!
Everyone takes a back seat to Ella.

@@direfranchement Your point is well taken however that doesn’t make her “better” it just makes her first.
