Love you shared your intelectual business with us I love tufting I'm a beginner
@@landas2268 Happy to help landa! I hope it all goes well for you!
Yes thnx a bunch😊👍
General rule of thumb, crafting charges should be 3x's the cost of the supplies. $20 to make charge $60.
gotta make yo buck!!! honestly im bad at that part i tend to undercharge
I first heard about this rule of thumb here, czcams.com/video/lalX66GegQU/video.html and it makes sense.
@@FlavorWorld it really depends. I crochet and yarn prices vary so much. I could by ~100 yards of yarn for $2-$6 but I could spend upwards of 12 hours on a piece using that yarn.
I better get paid more than $6 for 12 hours of work. 😂
This is completely inaccurate
But then $40 for 4 hours of work is only $10 an hour.
Yo! Just wanna say a big thank you, You've influenced me to start tufting here in the Philippines and now I am planning to buy a gun and after that start a small business at 17. All the people around me are laughing cause they say it is lame but for me it is damn unique and flavorful. Thank you!
THIS IS AMAZING!!!! dont let the people around you tease you too much! Tufting is very very fun. Start making awesome rugs and they'll all stop laughing : ) glad to hear i helped inspire you. thats very very cool
Can you Thell how are you doing? I plan to start this business here in Brazil
@@lylawatsom did you start ?
This is INCREDIBLE thank you so much.
I GOT YOUUUUU happy to help : )

You're 100% right about this being the beginning of the tufting wave. I discovered a tufting video 2 days ago and I'm already talking myself into buying the gun.
This is a great corona hobby/money maker!
yuuup!!!!! exactly! same thing happened to me. it's rapidly growing in popularity and honestly i love it : )
This series was super helpful. It definitely helped to calm my anxieties about getting started. Thank you!!
Did you get started? I find he forgot to mention a few items in here and I also don’t know if this guy trims his rugs because that’s where most of the time goes IMO. I just started a few weeks ago btw. Were these estimates accurate or did u find they were under what you really spend?
@@tdexter16 hey can we have a chat?
Drew! Thank you so much for making these videos. You're awesome and this is incredibly helpful for someone will be starting out soon! (:

yo that's so dope, tufting is awesome. hope it goes well for you, hmu with any questions : )
Just discovered your channel when looking for diy instructions on building a frame. This is excellent guidance. As someone who will be retiring soon this will be GREAT!
I understand about pricing, it is sometimes hard to calculate but, you said it... customization is the reason to you can charge premium prices!
Truth! Glad you like my videos! Good luck creating
This is an amazing find! Love crafting and making latch hook rugs so this is up my alley!
YES!!!! it's such a fun hobby. very stimulating and satisfying to have a rug as the finished product
@@FlavorWorld do you think your rug binding techniques would work for latch hook rugs?
This series is brilliant! question: how many balls of yarn do you usually buy when starting a new rug per sq ft? The pricing was super helpful but I'm in the UK so not sure how that translates or much to buy at a time...
Love your videos!
The editing is amazing your super helpful please keep this series going
happy to help : )
Thank you! Seriously considering this! Appreciate your enthusiasm and time!
of course, always happy to help : )

Hey flavorworld question about what images I can use for rug. I use google/bing and I filter for only the creative common license. These images I can use to make rugs correct? With out getting copy righted ?

Love your tufting videos! I'm trying to find the TEC glue since it's low-odor compared to Roberts, but it seems to have a high shipping cost ($20+) online. Is it in any particular retail store?
I bought it at Menards which is a store local to the Midwest USA. Id stop by a flooring store near you or something like Home Depot and ask for a low odor flooring adhesive
Thank you!!!!
Keep doing your thing bro 😉
wont stop! thanks for the love yo!
Hey man awesome video! I am starting with tufting from the Netherlands. But there is no place to find how dense your burlap has to be. Could you advise me?
i use jute burlap! im unsure exactly how dense it is, it doesn't say
You're so cool bro... had me laughing. Dope video. Keep going. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

Hey homie 😁 can you show us how to “write” on our rugs. You mention holes in the first video and the custom “directed by” rug looked amazing ! I just wanna know how rondo that because it also looked compact without holes obviously 😁 THANK YOU
Hi!!!! i dont really understand your question... like how to have text and fine detail on your rugs? just go slow with it!!!! or use a punch needle

Excellent video. Sub. Shared. Liked.
REALLY PRECIATE THIS
happy to help u Jay
If you are making a quality wool rug that will last years and actually stand up to use, you are talking somewhere in the neighborhood of $25/sq foot for JUST THE YARN! If you use cheap acrylic yarn and walk on it every day, you will only get a few months of use out of it before it looks pretty shabby. For wall hangings and decorative pieces you aren't walking on with shoes, then you can do it cheaply, for a quality rug, the supplies cost a lot.
so spendy
This is accurate
hi !! do you have any advice for when you rip a hole in your rug as you're making it? it happened to me twice and i don't know what i'm doing wrong or how to fix the holes 😓 i'm so frustrated
Hi!!!!!!! i know how to prevent the holes! i talk about that at the beginning of this video czcams.com/video/HuoHCre7AMs/video.html
but sadly i dont really know how to fix one after it has happened : / probably could patch it up somehow, or sew it closed?
dont be frustrated emily u got this i believe in you!!!!
@@FlavorWorld thank you SOOO much that video was super helpful
i have issues with my frame i need to fix and how i tighten my monks cloth and your vid answered how to fix both of those issues + more thank you so much !!

YOOO HAHA i love this!!!!!!! great minds think a like. I hope it all goes well for ya : )
So cool
Thank you
do you think it's still a good business opportunity today? considering you made this a year ago
Yeah still is but a little less lucrative! People still want rugs but its just a little less novel now
Just bought a tuffting gun a couple days ago I got a couple fire ideas I can see it blowing up
YES yo make those ideas come to life! People will love them. Feel free to DM me pics if you wanna share them, id love to see

Could you do one for like if your selling at a flee market
hell yeah

Honestly, it's tough if you want to make detailed rugs to profit. Mine take me around 15 hours but they are far more complicated and I apply a thick rubber non slip backing. I guess selling low quality simple rugs is more profitable
just gotta find the market for your work! there are a lot of people willing to pay a lot of money for an awesome rug, they are just harder to find than the people that want to spend $100 on a Nike logo rug.
They're out there though! participate in art shows and you will find them.
Watched your 4 part series. I am always up for new crafts and this looks amazing. The question I have though is one that I'm sure would get asked by customers and that is how do you clean them?
vacuum and/or they are also water resistant so you could scrub them : )
Where can u get the berlab fabric
watch the whole playlist and ill teach u all you need to know : )
czcams.com/play/PLy2udpA1ufs33rcZwcmlAs5V4DkEeC1L6.html
You inspire me with all your work, thank you!
happy to hear it : ) hmu with any questions
But what company should I go with buying the gun
I need a link for the zq 11
this specifically i do not have. google dat
Can you walk on these rugs?
Followed on ticker tok...r u going to post there??
Yep i do
@@FlavorWorld so I have the correct account? I saw 2 vids
@@lorieeiffert8005 i have a lot more than just two! here's the link to my account www.tiktok.com/@flavorworld_
Where can I buy the tufting gun ?
It's an AK-1 cut pile tufting gun. more info on the equipement tufting 101 video
@@FlavorWorld ok yes I saw it after I made this comment , thank you , I’ve heard persons saying not to buy the one with the red Botton what’s wrong with those?
Etsy to sell rugs, yay or nay?
yup. definitely yup. seems like a lot of people shop on etsy for rugs so that's a great place to sell them too
bear in mind etsy isn't free to sell.
There so much missing in this video. What about trimmer , vacuum , projector expenses.
I can only do so much
Hi
HI!!!!!!!
Hello
This is so sick!! What an untapped business idea. I think I just found my new side hustle. Have you experimented making rugs with different yarn? I could see maybe your client is willing to pay more for a higher quality yarn. (Maybe it's a well known company)
definitely an awesome side hustle!!!! i recommend. the sooner you hop on it the better. everyone wants a rug right now : )
i've hardly used different yarns so I cant say for sure, but yes if a client is willing to pay more for it the heck ya do it : )
I wanna make a spitfire brand rug
Ran into your video randomly and now I wanna try tufting it looks awesome to do. I like custom brand rugs from clothing brands I like and to make my own would be badass
yoooo a spitfire rug would be so sick. i might want to do that too haha.
glad you're like the looks of tufting!! i encourage you to try
