      Thanks Steve, those were a terracotta internal block and were splintering as they were being chiselled out. The post took some getting right, had to drill my own holes on the bottom steel and that’s how I got them to line up! Have a great day guy’s and keep up the good work! you’re prolific works👍👏🧱⚒️

    It always amazes me that small builders prefer to put the structure in after they have built the shell, whereas normally the structure goes in first and then the shell is built on to it. This small builder mentality caused a major cock-up on my house extension because the builder and his chippy couldn't set the building out properly, leaving them with all sorts of bodges to make it work. The problems were not noticed until it came to size the steels for fabrication, when it was too late to insist that the roof be taken down and rebuilt. What added to the annoyance was that I had provided the steel fabrication drawings, which ought to have meant that it all went up like meccano.

      Ours went in bang on, next doors didn’t have steel and I don’t know how they got away with it🤷

      @@foundationgood123 I don't doubt that its possible to install steelwork after the shell is erected, that happens all the time in refurbishment projects, but its a bit cart before the horse on new builds. I suppose that you measured for the steel once the roof was complete and installed?
      As regards next door - did they have a good engineer?

    Hello,
    Great job!!
    I need your advice, please. I would like to build a single skin garage ,flat roof .
    Can I use 3.5N concrete blocks instead of 7.2N?
    Happy Easter!
    Thank you.

      Hi, not advisable to use the weaker blocks for exterior construction they won’t stand the weather conditions and will breakdown in a few years! Happy Easter😊

      @@foundationgood123 is it something to do with the roof pitch when you need a rsj ridge ?

    • @foundationgood123
      @foundationgood123  Před rokem +1

      @@Fordmad90 Yes, and the lateral pressure. I thought the size of timber we used on the ridge board would have been sufficient but they wanted a steel. Interestingly the next doors extension didn’t have one!!!

    Why the ridge beam ?

    • @foundationgood123
      @foundationgood123  Před rokem +1

      Because of lateral force, its a bespoke roof ie no ceiling joists that would have added strength against the outward push of the rafters and with there being no pearling support the ridge beam adds strength to the roof
