Ewan Cunningham, 18 years old! I'm from Falkirk, Scotland.
This is a drum cover of "Have A Cigar" from the 1975 album "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd.
Filmed and edited by me using Adobe Premiere, audio edited on Cubase 7 by me.
Using my Tama Superstar Hyperdrive kit, I love it.
I am self taught!
This video was shot in 4K with a GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition and Panasonic Lumix G7.

Just watched a few of your covers and it’s worth saying that I’ve never heard someone who can come that close to matching their original sound. You don’t try to be them, you try to honor them and their musical brilliance in your own style. You make slight tweaks to the music that makes it your own and very interesting to listen to. Keep up the good work.

Another superb cover Ewan. You always manage to capture that perfect Mason, slightly behind the beat drum feel. It's evident you have listened to A LOT of Floyd, particularly the drums. All the little nuances are there. That was an interesting last half too. I'm pretty sure the 32nd note groove on the hats is an overdub on the original recording, while Mason of course continues to play his slow 4/4 8th note pattern with fills underneath it. But I loved the way you pulled it all together in your video, adding your own little touch. Super impressed again mate!
Thank you very much dude! I certainly have listened to A LOT of Floyd. I think you're right about the hi hat towards the end being an overdub. There's no way he could have been doing the tom fills and maintaining the hi hat groove at the same time.

This is a difficult song to play the drums to due to the tempo. Ewan nailed it. Mason himself would give a thumbs up!

Hey! Thanks for watching. I don't have backing tracks and I am in fact just playing along to the original. It's impossible to get Floyd backing tracks without access to the original master tapes :/

Hi. What tuning do you occupy in your snare drum? Sounds very good, congratulations Greetings.
Thanks Jose! I don't have a specific method or anything. It's tuned extremely tight on the top skin and it's medium tightness on the bottom skin. I don't mess about with it very much :-)

+Jareth Sotomayor From listening to some of their live shows around the time, it sounds like Nick just plays a basic but similar fill. Then the band stops playing and the tape track takes over and plays what was on the original record.

In the original one too there are two drums??
There must be multiple tracks layered on top. Either that or someone else was doing the Hi-Hat part at the same time. It's very subtle, but you can hear some fills played on the snare and toms but the hi-hat doesn't break it's rhythm. It couldn't have been done with just two hands :-)
