    good to know that will be easy but what about leaking from the sides and middle where the door meets, the gap is pretty big all the way around and water finds a way out of every nook and crany

      WOW. I have not had one with those problems. My gaps are less than a 1/4" They make a silicone gasket that is flat like tape (clear) in different thicknesses. I wonder if you could get that and maybe glue it with some silicone to the glass to cover the gap. Just kinda brainstorming.

    Do you have any recommendations for doors that swing outward?

    • @DadsGarageDIY
      @DadsGarageDIY  Před rokem +1

      Hi Maria. Home Depot and Lowes should have something or you could call a glass company. Not a window company but a glass company. Down here we have Binswanger and some others. Any of those places should be able to help you. Good luck. I would appreciate if you would subscribe. It really helps me out. And let me know how your project goes.

      @Dads Garage thanks for the tip. I've looked at both Lowe's and Home Depot but their sizes are in inches. My door is 12mm thick and is in between sizes which I believe is too big or too small. I will definitely look for a glass company. Thank you. Subscribed!

      @@MommyOf2-vi4tl Hmmmm. 12mm is slightly less than 1/2”. That is really thick. Good luck with that. Had I to do mine over I would have done a walk in. I’m sick of the glass and cleaning it. Thanks so much for subscribing. I do a lot of car stuff but mixed is is home repair stuff too.

    Shower doors are required to swing out for safety reasons. remake the video and use a code compliant door and state why doors should not swing inward.

    • @DadsGarageDIY
      @DadsGarageDIY  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Please share more information about this code. Maybe it is a code in your state? This is a 3 year old house in a town with an extremely strict code enforcement officer and we passed with no issues.

      Yeah. I hate this thing. It is leaking again already. If I were to do it again I would have done a walk in. Our shower is plenty big enough to have the wall.

    Curb slope should direct water in. 🤔

    • @DadsGarageDIY
      @DadsGarageDIY  Před rokem +2

      Love it. How is that done? Is it done when you build the house or is it something you can do after? Thanks Noel. Love the advice.

      @@DadsGarageDIY unfortunately, it would’ve had to been done by the tiling contractor. Every element associated with a shower should have a slight pitch directing water in towards the shower drain.

    I replaced this, but it still leaks like crazy. I put a level on the tile and it slants toward the outside of the shower. I don’t know how to stop this leak.

    • @DadsGarageDIY
      @DadsGarageDIY  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I have a similar problem. Mine is level and I was told that it is supposed to slope in. I was also told that I would need to have a tile guy come out to fix the tile. I tried this www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09Z72Q5XN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 it's not as "pretty" but it solved my problem. This other item in the video solved my problem for about a month then we were back at water getting out again. But this item solved everything. I installed it about 4-5 months ago and it's all good. I ran a very small bead of clear silicone down each side to help it stay put. So far, so good.

      I have seen them called different things from a glass shower door sweep to a frameless shower door seal. Either one of those should get you there. Hope that helped.
