Tap water is worse because even if you live in a new house with new plumbing, the water travels through nasty rusty pipes with tons of chlorine, etc. In there, look at Flint,MI, etc. Oh yea, Pensacola,FL, etc, you don't ever know the metallic levels in you're tap water.

Soda maker here, essence is typically made of a distilled flavor (think essential oils), mixed into 10+ times it's quantity of alcohol, often with a bit if a preservative.
When companies add truly egregious additives, it may not be visible on the label, but they do show up in chemical analysis, and if it's shown that there's ingredients known to do harm, that's when class action lawsuits happen.
Fun fact: a 'natural flavor' used in almost every can of carbonated drink you enjoy: baking soda

It’s probably because of piping used in processing since it’s fairly resistant to corrosion (PFA lined carbon steel piping). Lined pipe including PFA is pretty common in industry.

I drink Brita filtered water from my refrigerator into a 20 oz. glass and then pour the equivalent of about 2 tablespoons of Santa Cruz organic pure lemon juice (100% juice) that comes in a 16 oz. glass bottle (and keep it refrigerated). At first, it tasted pretty tart, but now it quenches my thirst and gives a little flavor. I don’t add ANY sweetener whatsoever.

It has the potential to remove excessive toxins found in micro traces of chemicals left by exposure to pharmaceuticals, BPA, estrogen, plastics, fluoride, etc. none of which are good for your mind and body. In comparison, a typical Brita is just for a normal layperson to get by in life. Hence, why RO is used by the ARMY to make sure their troops don't have man boobies and struggling to carry their guns around in combat, etc.

my only concern is it being in the metal cans with the inside plastic liner material, however I’ve not done enough research on wether the metal cans are fine or not (they honestly probably are, I’m just being a conspiracy theorist, I do know that acidic liquids can make chemicals/metals from the can leach into beverage)
