I can't find the video I wanted to link for an alternative way to cover up the eye if you're building this look up on your face, but if you search for 'missing eye sfx' you should be able to find some videos. I would probably cover one side of a cotton pad with liquid latex, let it dry, powder it (to avoid any eyelash snagging), then add latex or adhesive a safe distance around the eye, apply the cotton pad with the powdered latex side against the eyelid (to avoid getting any fluff caught in your eye), then anchor the edges with more latex, then continue to build your design up on top.

Have you ever considered working in the movie industry as a makeup artist?
I was thinking the same thing. This is perfect, considering that there are many of us who work creating fantasy/horror movieas and bringing to life creations like this is really important.
She said in one of her old Q&A videos she liked makeup very much and didn't want it to become a chore. When you turn your hobby into your job, unfortunately you often grow aversion towards it.

This turned out so beautifully. I feel like it's really hard to make an entire mask out of latex and cotton and make it all cohesive and smooth. And that paint job. Dude, seriously great job.

This is beautiful! For Halloween, I'm planning to do a forest creature with small tree branch horns. I'll definitely use this technique, and I think I'll add some badass tendons too.

I can't get over the detail in the closed eye and socket to match it up. A lot of times a covered eye sticks out and is quite obvious but it matched the open one so well.

How did you make your eye all bloodshot? I've always wondered that in movies and television, how they make characters actually have reddened bloodshot eyes or burst capillaries in the whites of their eyes.

ColorfulConfessions I think I've seen someone using some special eyedrops to give that bloodshot Effect in a tutorial.. maybe they use that for movies aswell or maybe they just add the Effect digitally 🤷♀️
Krylon has a red eye drops but it doesn't last long but it does give the effect
They're edited here! I try not to mess with my eyeballs too much anymore. Aside from adding it in post, I think they mostly use specially designed sclera lenses like these: www.specialeyeeffects.com/?pageId=4 There are some pretty nasty looking ones out there! If you try some, make sure you buy from somewhere that requires your eye measurements etc so they don't cause you any damage. ^_^ Thanks for watching!
