I married into a family of Black foot Indians the old folks say that a dog needs to lay on the ground. There are minerals in the grass and in the dirt that they need. We all know Sherpa is King of Dogs❤❤
Maybe. Kinda sorta we all do. But, Sherps can't bring all this inside a house. But, how Jamie can keep fresh grass growing inside the shed? Guess we'll see how it plays out. But, Sherpa has lots of grass all around. Just not all in the shed. 🤷😂🐾
The grass is great. He has lots of grass all around him. But, sometimes he prefers the shed. Only thing is the grass in the open gets light. The grass in the shed doesn't. Laying in same spot in shed wears the grass exposing dirt, then tracked into the house, caught in fur, etc. I thought the mat would help. I still think it will. But, Sherpa may need to make adjustments. He has a lovely garden. 🙂❤️🐾

That’s what I thought when he first got them. Also for use in the back of the Jeep, especially for a muddy or wet Sherpa after a ramble or his hydro.

If you’ve ever been camping you’ll know Sherp’s is using the mud to conduct the cold from the ground to cool himself down, he wouldn’t be there if he wasn’t comfortable. He’s never going to sleep on those mat’s as they insulate him from the cold and it’s the cold he wants, Sherp’s is a cold weather doggo.
I wonder if a small piece of astro turf would work with a cool mat?

Jamie, you remind me so much of my Dad. He was always building something or making something for Mom. He made Mom and me several bird feeders and a bird house. He even made a kitchen table and benches. Do you have a circular saw? My Dad had so many tools we could barely get the car in the garage. 😂 I laughed when you mentioned 14 degrees C. Those mats are great for the shed floor. I have them at the door ways to keep from slipping when my shoes are wet.😊

Jamie, you could also use the interlocking foam pads there at your new workbench. They would be good for your back, legs, & knees. They would help prevent/relieve stress in those areas.

Great, now you have a proper work table! I had suggested some time ago that you make bird houses. Some for yourself, give some as gifts, and some you could sell with Sherpa's fluff inside!

This reminds me so much of my Husky. He always wanted to be close, often annoyingly close if I was trying to do something. The last year of his life, he didn't want to come into the house at all. Wolves and wild dogs wander off from their packs when they get old, injured or sick. Even domesticated dogs do this. My grandfather told me about the dogs that they had roaming free on the farm. When they got old, one day they would just be gone never to be found.
Sherpa is such a good boy. so easy to please all he needs is a patch of gras to be comfortable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good work, Jamie. Just an idea, maybe put castors on the bottom of the gardening box if you plan to keep tools and equipments in them. And also create a peg board or little shelves that can rest above the little boards that were nailed in to cover the gaps at the edge of the table.

Jamie ,buy a cheap artificial grass rug to put over those 2 things you attached together for Sherpa to lye on. People in America use those artificial rugs on the outside of their entrance doors to wipe their feet. Cheap fluffy bath rug is a alternative to put on those 2 foam squares for Sherpa to lye on.

Jamie, you could try moving your lawnchair to the corner Sherpa normally sleeps in. He could switch to the grassy corner and maybe it'll grow back under your chair. Or sprinkle some seed down.

Maybe Jamie could plant some grass seeds or lay some sod in the muddy spot in the shelter. That way Sherpa would have soft grass to lay in and not mud; and he could still feel the coolness of the ground without getting very muddy.
You can take those mats to cover and protect your floor in your summer house, especially if you do projects in there.

Most big dogs love to sleep on the ground. And weird that Sherpie wasn't digging a "nest" already (a shallow hole). They feel safe, plus the ground is warmer in winter and cooler in summertime.
Been a bit surprised at how Sherpa's taken so to the shed vs grass, but maybe it's a seasonal prerogative of his! 👍🐺😎
