i'm pretty sure the bass tone sounded way better in the room he was in. Mids hit the ears very harshly in various, so what he must've heard was something that sounded very balanced and precise and even. What we're hearing is the signal that's being sent, not the cabinet.

It sounds good. To the critics, the bass is just set up too low for him, thats why its buzzing. And he'd prob benefit from cutting some treble and playing with mid, sounds a little harsh as eq'd. Besides that it is a great bass with amazing sounding electronics.

    • @waawaaweewaa2045

He such an incredible player. He has a really good right hand attack, and when he wants to, he digs in a bit harder. This really makes the notes "punch". I think this bass sounds great.

I'm not sure why there is so much fuss about the tone... It makes a lot of sense to dial in the tone this way for someone like Vic who is doing so much while playing. Every note, dynamic, and little nuance is popping through. Also think about the environment here; he is playing in a room, not going through a large PA. It sounds great to me!

Low action, boosting around 5-6khz and scooping around 500-1000hz will make you sound like this. Blame the eq not the bass, it is obviously eq'ed pretty heavily, in a way that makes the bass sound less warm and full, but more present and brittle. Also, the bass can most certainly take the low action just fine, the boost in the presence region just accentuates the buziness of sliding up and down the neck as well as any string rattle. Try doing these things to your bass and it will most likely achieve the same effects as heard in this video.

  • @acprado67
