- Starting at Baker Street and a shot of the impressive Chiltern Court built by the Metropolitan Railway in 1912. We see 1970s (C) Circle and 1960-63 Metropolitan line A (Amersham)(A60 and A62) stock in its last few months of service, also brand new S stock. At (00.34) the grand illuminated sign was installed to guide the huge crowds passing through the station during the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley in 1924, and is listed in its own right.
If you've never seen it, have a look at the wonderful 1973 film "Metro-land" by Sir John Betjeman. It's on CZcams. This man headed the campaign in the late 1960s to save St Pancras station from demolition and did so with only a few days to spare.....
The brick vaulted circle line platforms seen are little changed since 1863, this station being part of the world's first underground railway between Paddington and Farringdon which opened on the 9th January 1863.
On to St John's Wood (5:10) on the Jubilee line and the 1930s Charles Holden designed station in very much original condition. A short walk away is Abbey Road (9:15) with its famous music recording studio, most famous for the location of the cover photograph of the Beatles album, Abbey Road. The zebra crossing is grade two listed even though it's now several metres from its original location. During the day there is an almost non stop photo shoot by tourists risking life and limb to get thier own recreations of the classic photo. There is even a 24 hour webcam on the crossing www.abbeyroad.com/Crossing
On north to Kilburn (13:00) and then to the 1925 built Willesden Green station (15:27) designed by Charles Clark.

gosh seeing this video it feels like yesterday, was there last summer and can't wait to be back in the near future LONDON is the best city in the world for me :)
Absolutely superb. You should win an award for this video.....best London Underground video I've ever seen on YT.
Great video... nicely done... Thanks
Congratz! You just made an awesome film of London Underground. Metropolitan and Jubilee lines.
Great video
I've just come back from a holiday in the UK, and I did heaps of travelling on the London Tube. I miss it already. :-/
Thanks very much. BBC Cameraman, that's the only other career I considered as a schoolboy back in '87. Alas, being keen on photography and camera work was not enough when I enquired and I'm not clever enough to get the qualifications that were needed!! Anyway, the calling of the railway was probably too strong.
Beautiful quality!
Thank you so much!
Chiltern Court was for a long time, home of Hughie Green of Opportunity Knocks fame.He had a large model railway in his flat!
ughhhh, i miss London so much! Toronto is okay, but the subway system is horrible, and every time i go on it, it makes me sad. The stations here are dirty, there are only two legitimate lines, and the trains are so noisy! I can't wait to go back, my sister still lives there and tells me it's not as difficult to move there as people make it sound, so i hope i can go there permanently some day.
Thank you.. Very kind
Thank you for taking the time to do this and put it on You Tube. Beautifully done. Oh I guess you never saw the New York subway system, and frankly, that's a good thing. Hope to get back to London someday soon. :-)
i know I am pretty off topic but do anyone know a good website to stream newly released tv shows online?
This is a really interesting high quality video, well done!
Yes, always use a tripod if you can..not supposed to on the undergrond, but keep moving and dodge the cctv cameras;-))
Yes...Please do Glad you enjoy it
I love the c and a stock a much
Thanks for you complimentry comments.. I use a Panasonic SD900 which is a great camera. Yes, I always try and use a tripod and as they're not allowed on the underground I tend to do a lot of low level shots. I might set the tripod next to a seat then I can sart and stop the camera without even looking at the screen, or use the arm rest to balance the camera on. Sometimes just dodge the CCTV cameras. I learnt the zoom lesson years ago. Use sparingly or not at all, too much zooming is unwatchable
jubilee line destination:Stanmore/Wembley park/Stratford
Metropolitan line:destination wembley park
The A stock has to be the quietest apart from their compressor noise.
Personally I don't like the new train noise especially the Julbilee trains.
Exceptional. Keep up the good work! (from a BBC Cameraman)
at least he goes...OUTSIDE
man, those 96 stock traction motors have me finished.
Yes, and you see so many people walking around with their walllet hanging out of their arse pockets, they're asking to get picked I'm afraid..Saw a guy on the tube the other day like that...you could see the £20 notes
nice
Fajna jest praca motorniczego Londyńskiego metra.
i have had a a cab ride in the jubline line to green park
Really good video, can i ask what camera you were using, and the editing software?
Hi there, glad you enjoyed. I use a Panasonic SD900 edited on Sony vegas HD 11
Did you ever have any bother with videoing? I ask because I was at Baker street wanting to do some photography of the architecture and I was told to put my camera away.
Wonderful stuff! Can I ask you what camera/lens you use, and also if you use a tripod? Surely you must, your shots are all rock-solid!
So easy to get yr pockets dipped tho so be careful . Saw a guy at the weekend just gone get his wallet and phone pinched in the blink of an eye . Soon as the doors opened they were out a there . Guy was shell shocked
Do you mind if I use a short clip as an intro for my youtube videos?
Yeah see I find the staff on LU rude. and if i even think out getting my tripod out they swoop on me. I dont dare get it out now i just find somthing to rest my camera on.
Would it be possible to use some very brief clips from this beautiful selection for a very short, private film? Please let me know!
Did you use a tripod?
