I have the weird habit of looking at my phone whenever my crush and I are in the same room or waiting in the same hallway. And I try to figure out a smooth way of starting a small talk with them, but everytime I just don't do it. I'm a 17 years old guy, is this normal?
I think that it's completely normal. If you are looking at your phone because you don't know how to talk to them, you should probably type down ways you could start out a conversation. With one of the crushes that I had that barely knew me, I was able to actually start a conversation with them without even addressing them. I was mostly asking about a certain video game and if anyone played it. I had noticed that they had a patch on their backpack that was the logo for that game series before but I had kind of forgotten about it. It wasn't until I was asking everyone about it that I realized that he did like the game and I found out that we watched the same CZcamsr at the time. If I were you, I would probably look at what they have and see if anything they have is something that the two of you can have a conversation about. You can start the conversation by asking them about the thing and then it could possibly excite them to actually talk about something that they like.

I was horribly depressed after an online acquaintance passed away, I kept failing at job interviews, and was watching my Grandfather descend further into Alzheimer's.
I then got a crush on a girl who seemed perfect for me.
Turns out that she was in a relationship and was not allowed to date someone or even have a fraternal relationship with someone of my standing in our organization due to work rules.
Needless to say, it was the worst year of my life.
Getting harassed and threatened by Russian nationalists that year also snapped me out of my suicidal state, reminding me there are worse things in life than wanting the wrong girl. I kept going our of pure spite after that. I'm Polish to the core

I hate the uncertainty that comes with having a crush and I know deep down that I don't want temporary relationships in my life which makes it sad, even if there's something between us, is it even worth giving it a try, given that I don't know if this will last or not? Then again, his presence itself is something that makes me a bit happy. He's always stuck somewhere in my mind. I can't help my eyes wandering around to see him in a crowd. My crush is definitely healthy- although I’m not sure if I like them or not. They make my day more interesting.. I used to think going to school was boring and tiring and there’s nothing really exciting about going to school- but when they came into my life it just made me want to go to school- for some reason I look forward to school now- and it’s only because of them 💀 heck it’s even the weekends and I want to go to school- they remind me how we should cherish our times as we our young and than look forward to the future ahead of us.. they make everything for me so much better.. they even help me with my tests! And when I say help- I don’t mean helping me and giving me hints for the answers- I mean them lending me something to calm me down when I take a test.. they help me so much.. and I love that about them. Their are absolutely amazing!
I was abused for months to the point I wanted to kill myself. But my crush noticed it at the Moment I was trying to end it. She called me until I picked up. She was crying and Just... Talked with me. This day, she literally saved my life. To this day, I am saved from my abusive Mother and life with my stepdad now. And it turned Out that she has also a crush on me. i started liking this guy i just met (through facetime cause quarentine) after my friend suggested i liked him. i didnt really find his appearance attractive but i didnt hate it either, it was a new appearance and i didnt think much. my friend thought i liked him because of how nice i was to him. when she mentioned that i started to like him (i guess my brain thought it was now okay) i started being more interested in what he had to say. at first i was scared to like him because hes two years older then me and hes more experienced in relationships and he was just completely new. (i never liked someone that was two grades above me) i liked everything he had tk say and i liked how he loved animals and i started to like his appearance cause i knew it was him and i liked his smile and his voice and the way that he does his hair and i love his art and he makes me so happy. my guy friend who is his best friend knows i like him and he jokes with me about it and tries to get me to make a move but im too scared of rejection and hes asked questions like, “what do you think about (my name)” and the guy i like said sonethjng like “shes too young for me” (which is ironic considering i said the exact thing) but idk. anyone reading this is probably so confused about what im saying
