I am planning to get started on my build of the Flea this summer. Can I ask why you decided on the HM293 vs the HM360?

Retired software engineer that loves wiener dogs and aviation! Instant sub from me!
Just got my little long haired miniature dachshund puppy, discovered your channel while I was writing some C, and I've been looking into buying a Hummel Bird kit and putting it together! Got all the tools and the space, just wanted to know what goes into it. Your video is incredibly informative regarding the time that it takes to put one together. Seems like it'd be so much faster to put together!
(Also, just a question, what was your software development speciality? I'm primarily a mobile application developer!)

Doh !, I just watched the video again, and realised I mentioned about tube type main gear (I was looking at a photo of a Dutch Flea, also yellow overall whilst watching this).
The trike layout in the video, is a laminated leg, which is quite a project in its own right. Rodolph's design is much simpler.
    Kind Regards

    How is the Flea progressing?

Another nice video Malcolm, I notice the ribs are coming along nicely.
I noticed your using the trike layout, are you going to use Rodolph Grunberg's main leg design which looks to be the easiest version to build, with very few mods to the basic fuselage design, if you go for the tube set up, as in your photo, you will need to put a compression strut between the upper mounts.
To keep leg space, if you use a curved steel tube, to follow the bottom of the instrument panel, it will stop the side panels flexing inwards if you have a hard landing. The instrument panel alone will not support those loads, as it is mounted on top of the longerons, and is therefore in sheer, not compression.
Looking forward to your next video.
    Hope this helps.
    Kind Regards
    Nigel

Are you still building your plane?

Yes, but very slowly. I’m enjoying the weather in Florida and I’m involved in lots of other activities. I hope to produce a video on building the outer wing panels in 2023. Thanks for checking
