    It fascinates me that this 100mph max heavy train (11Mk2f+dead 67) which was also heavily delayed towards the end still managed to do the bits between the the M4 crossing points faster than you can drive it along the motorway. The crossing points just west of Swindon, just beyond Wootton Basset and before Bristol Parkway allow you to time it both by train and car. The train always wins, even if you add a minute on this one for the bits not filmed.

    Excellent, I did this route on a Pathfinders trip last Nov. Nice to see what the drivers saw. Cheers.

    I had a cab ride in a HST going the other way (Bristol Parkway - Swindon) back in April. Max speed reached was 124mph.

      you oversly aint watched it all the way through, there was a cl221 x.crountry at westerleigh jc, a cl158 in southwest trains colours, most proberly going to glos or great malvern, the hst at parkway itself, and if you looked hard enough, you would see a cl150 in the platform with a service to sunny weston-s-mare. nice vid tho, well done to the driver.

    Absolutely fascinating!
    Two questions - First, I noticed tons of scrap metal in between the lines in the form of rails which have presumably been left behind after earlier rail replacements. Why doesn't Network Rail have them removed as part of the replacement process? Surely this is a potential hazard in itself as well as an open invitation to metal thieves.
    Second, why did the driver stop at one yellow light but not others?

    when the driver brought the throttle back, it reminded me of the two cylinder John Deere tractor I drove back on the farm in my youth! That roadbed is in terrific shape, couldn't detect any thumping as the train went through the switches.

    Why don't all trains in 2016 record their journeys with a simple cam built into the front of the trains. For safety litigation For example people jumping in front of trains Graffiti artists. The down side is they also record Cab conversations detect unauthorised people in the cabs oh dear. Just think of the advantages the rail companies could use these videos for driving training or even sell them to General public I willing for correction But i am sure watching an American cab ride Between the two drivers built into the Widescreen is a camera For these purposes.
    I Personally Take my hat of to you guys for making and Bringing these videos to us. Thank you very much, I mean it. I get so much joy watching them. But there something winding me up i should not let it. But I been watching General Train video amateurs take from various locations As much as I love Trains. There like watching Paint dry. I wish the guys would speak they have voices. and tell us what we are seeing where we are seeing it. I hate the sound of the SLR camera shutters going its actually got to me so much i turn the sound off. I Have a vision of Men with video cameras every time a train passes doing lavatory chain pulls at the driver to pull the horn. I see this in your Videos and for some reasons incenses me. But thats my problem to deal with

    • @sw01ller
      @sw01ller Před 7 lety

      pretty much every train has all the recording facilities you speak of. they only get used when a driver has made a mistake or a serious incident has occurred. for these reasons alone the general public will never see then and nor should they! rest assured, every journey is scrutinised.

    If I'm not mistaken, the beeping is ATP at work, right?

    • @thetrainsrock
      @thetrainsrock Před 8 lety

      +Jan Imhof depends on what beeping hes talking about. the actual beeping every minute when the throttle isnt touched is the DSD. the signals are the AWS

    • @sw01ller
      @sw01ller Před 7 lety +2

      actually, if were getting pedantic, the beeping every minute or so is the VIGALANCE going off, you then need to respond to that by using the DSD to cancel it! you get about 3-5 seconds to sort it out, or you can just lift your foot every minute or so when you know there will be high activity with the horn, AWS, PTI ect. stops you worrying about it going off at inconvenient times

      +Britt Unculus 67's were & are capable of 125. But with mk2 coaches behind it and another dead 67 on the back top speed is 100. 67's usually do 100 during normal service and mk2 coaches are maximum speed of 100 :)
