      I did a little research on Balochistan recently, and it seems the last name Khan comes from a long line of what comes quite close to a type of tribal royalty. I wonder if Mr. Gull Sher Khan Baloch is descended from those famous Khans?🤔
      Or maybe it’s just become a common name among people from his region?

      It happens - I'm thinking Urdu has the same thing that Indonesian has, where there is no word to distinguish between "him" and "her" - the same word is used and it's all based on context and some conventions as far as names go, and it has a tendency to "go wrong" in translation. (Also quite common for Indonesians to somewhat consistently misgender when speaking English).

    In the UK, that type of moustache is known as a handlebar moustache - because it looks like bicycle handlebars! The most famous English specimen would be Jimmy Edwards. His moustache was not just decorative though - it was to cover up the injuries he received when he was a pilot in WW2, and his Dakota plane was shot down over the Netherlands, on his return from delivering paratroopers to Arnhem - including my father.

    Please let me preface my comment by saying how much I love this channel, how much I appreciate all of the positive things I’ve learned about these lovely gentlemen, their country and their religion. They’ve done more than I think they even know to expand understanding among various world cultures. I just love ❤ the TPT gentlemen! 🥰
    With that said, I wondered whether any other viewers were curious about Mr. GSK’s home territory/tribe. I was thinking about him a couple of weeks ago and remembering a few things he said, I poked around a little bit on the web, wanting to learn more about Balochistan.
    He says he is from the Mujahid people, that they are/were known for being fearless soldiers/fighters.
    I am not versed in global geopolitics, but having served in the US Army there are certain…rumblings, regarding the region of Balochistan, as well as the word Mr. GSK used: “Mujahid”. Similar is the term “Mujahidin”, which has negative associations in countries around the world.
    I bring this up because these beautiful gentlemen on this channel are so kind and lovely, and even as Mr. GSK said, BECAUSE they are Muslim they wish for peace and love among all people.
    Obviously, there is a cognitive dissonance for many people between the teachings of peacefulness, love and harmony that are found within the Muslim faith (and that we see clearly in these TPT men) and the information we receive about practices within some Pakistani regions and terms like mujahidin.
    Are there any other viewers who know about the information I’ve referred to? If so, how do you rationalize the dissonance between the negative information we know and the clearly positive people, actions and statements we’ve seen on this channel?

    • @deniecedavis-xh2ik
      @deniecedavis-xh2ik Před měsícem +1

      I appreciate your question and your thoughtfulness. I am by no means an expert on global politics but I think the answer to your questions lie in the fact that we are seeing real people on this channel, not characters and not the small percentage of people who commit violent acts and scream hate. We are also not seeing their government. We are getting to experience a small slice of their country’s humanity. Think of it this way, if this were American People Try a lot of foreigners would have some terrible and interesting assumptions about who we are based on our government and based on the many lunatics we see on tv, whether that be neo Nazis parading in downtown Tennessee, bodycam footage from police stops, reality tv, and our entire news cycle of government info. Viewers would likely assume that all Americans are racist, that our government is arrogant and intrusive, and that we are primarily focused on material goods with no real religious compass. But that’s not who I am and it’s not who most of the people I know are. This is why stereotypes hurt us all.

      It's the same channel owner and participants. They just have two channels. Tribal People Try is the main channel and Tribal Lifestyle is it's "sister channel". They also have one more channel that they started a couple of years ago for the ladies, but because it's very difficult for them to make it to the studio to film, they only upload to on certain occasions. It's called Tribal Women Try. I hope that helps. ☺
      (I wish they would list all of their channels in the description box or on the screen at the end of each video. I think a lot of people who haven't been viewers/subscribers since the early days, don't know that they're all part of the same group.)

      @@bobbiejojackson9448 I subbed over there when they started out. I always wondered why they don't upload often. Now I know. Thanks. I really like the happy tribal woman. The one that's always laughing. The other lady too. Or ladies too. Too bad they have a transportation problem. I'd watch them all the time too. I also didn't realize there was a tribal people lifestyle channel too. I subbed thinking it was the original channel. I was upset because I thought somebody unsubscribed me. I haven't been having your videos pop up on my feed as often as they used to.
      This channel has always been one of the first videos that come up. They haven't been lately though and can't figure out why. Love the people, though. Like family.

      @@Only-me-baby-tf9km I always enjoyed the ladies too. It's so different in their culture when it comes to women beig able to travel outside of the home, what with needing to have a chaperone with them, etc. I don't know if you've seen the more recent video on the channel where they told us that Rani's husband had passed away. So sad. But with the always generous help of Elliott Moriarty and donations through Patreon and other means, it looks like she's going to be OK, at least for the forseeable future.
      Have you checked the drop-down menu next to the notification bell, to see if you have "ALL" checked off? If not, you won't get a notification every time they upload. I know that I've noticed on certain channels that I haven't been hearing from them lately and I'll go and check to see if I have it set up for all notifications and it will have gone back to the default, which I think is "some". I don't knw why, but YT seems to change things up now and then, without letting you know. Hope you can get it straightened out. ☺

    • @user-vs6hx9ib2o
      @user-vs6hx9ib2o Před 2 měsíci +2

      I took it to mean arm wrestling. I wrote the same thing, almost all the letters were written from women, I don't know if these guys just don't know that or if they're purposely dissing The women. I kind of doubt that with Muslim societies. I posted it too, the correct way to have referred to them was with the title Ms., not Mr. Unmarried women are called Miss, married women are Mrs. But the safest way for women you don't know is to use Ms. Since you would have no way of knowing if she was married or not and also because many women prefer Ms. Since our marital status makes no difference in business or casual social conversations. I hope somebody from the channel reads this because although I'm sure they didn't intend to be disrespectful, it was pretty disrespectful to call everybody Mr. and assumed they were all men, when they were women. Hugs & respect from the USA.
