Abathor F@€¥ING RULES!!! The only thing I don’t quite understand is if this is supposed to be a full game at some point, or some kind of Demo that just keeps getting built up? The Indie game side of the industry can be so strange with the way it operates, you can get a demo one day, then hear nothing for 5 years, and suddenly you find out it was released a few months ago with little to no promotion!

Replaced and The Last Night are definitely my most anticipated games on this list! Especially Replaced, which was delayed from its original release end of 2023.

As a Treasure fan that's been holding out for a Mischief Makers sequel since about 1998 thank you so much for making me aware of Doubleshake.
Glad Black Finger Jet got a showing, it's got a handful of devs from SNK and IREM working on it, most obviously the pixel artist "AKIO" who popped up on Twitter last year in Spring and shook the pixel art twitter for a few days.....just "hey I am 60 years old and mostly paint nowadays but I used to do the pixel art on METAL SLUG" and everybodys jaw dropped
So many great Titles...
...Lords of Exile, The Last Nigh and Replaced, are on my Top 3 List now 💯👏🏻

I had a few of these on my radar already (Replaced at number one is a great choice), but I am blown away by some of these titles. Black Finger Jet! I had no idea! I was a huge Metal Slug fanatic, so that game feels like it was made for me.

A few I already wishlisted, but SO many new ones I'd never heard of and they look so great! My wishlist keeps ballooning! Always appreciate these lists, wonderful to see so many upcoming and promising looking titles get a little attention.

SoulQuest looks exactly like the type of game that I've been wanting to play lately with some free form combos Vanillaware style, this video had a lot of new games I didn't know about, all of them wishlisted now.

Not sure if you already know about it, but there's an upcoming game that seems to be an action platformer with incredible pixel art called Moon Samurai made by a group called Nunchaku Games. I don't think it has a release date yet.

ohh there are a lot here that look really sweet!
SoulQuest - Great combat combos and animation. The shout-effect could start to grate on the nerves however, need to work on that sound more. Otherwise really awesome combat that you can visually see and set up.
Abathor - 1-4 Player is always going to boost playability with fun with friends so can't go far wrong with this one and again neat design and art.
Black Finger Jet - Wow Metal Slug's one of the best of the best games ever so some "DNA" in this title makes it one to watch. So long as the art and IP are different, the mechanisms can't be copyrighted so imo looks like it will be fine and it really does look very different even if the style of gameplay has a familiar feel to it.
The Transylvania adventure of simon quest - Does "look" like the old classic and very tempting also.

Slave Zero X's case is that it exists because of what Inforgames did to the original Slave Zero.
The original Slave Zero was evidently inspired by mecha anime and shows like Evangelion (which kinda is mecha but the EVAs are techno-organic giant cyborgs) and Guyver (which is more tokusatsu...that is until Guyver Gigantic appears and the mecha tag gets added).
The game was supposed to be far different from what people got. The titular techno-organic mecha and other slave units had a far more techno-organic, scary bio-punk aesthetic given to them and the theme was that of "to fight monsters one must become a monster". With the main character who is piloting Slave Zero trying his best to maintain his humanity from eroding.
What did Inforgames do? Canned that, told the now enraged devs to tone down the bio-punk and settle for a generic heroic military-themed story because they wanted to piggback the Mechwarrior ride.
Now with Ziggurat having the IP and Poppy Works getting to work on it, Slave Zero X is a big return to the original Slave Zero ideas. Tell you that the devs also want to make their own mecha game, so there might be a chance they will make a complete remake of Slave Zero that stays true to the original theme and aesthetics that it was supposed to have.
Ghost Knight totally looks like the next evolution of super ghouls and ghosts Hans

Advent Neon looks like a mix of Mega Man Zero, Sonic, and Ori or Rocket Knight Adventures/Sparkster.
Holy hell that Gunbound throwback. You're talking about Aduka's ultimate (which largely sucked because it barely did any damage). I mained that thing, since it was an ultra-precision mobile with very consistent damage, and it was so much fun being a god with that.

Unfortunately Berserk Boy won't be appearing on all those systems any more, at least not right away. Only Steam and Switch on that March 6th date and then hopefully other systems if it's successful enough.
is rot in a porcelain dream really 2.5d? because from what I'm seeing here, it just looks like 2d to me. something like elsword comes to mind when I think 2.5d since it actually utilizes x, y and z-axis despite being generally 2d. doubleshake on the other hand I have no doubt is 2.5d.

I'm also working on a Castlevania 2 inspired game, but the story in Castlevania 2 makes no sense, which is why I'm changing the story completely in my own version, but my Castlevania 2 inspired game is still years off from production as I'm still working on my first game lol
Some other 2D action platform games, while not exactly indie, they are just as much anticipated, are Shadow of the Ninja Reborn from Tengo Project, and that new Contra: Operation Galuga from Konami
