Nice video. In the Andes (South America), there is an instrument similar to both you presented. It´s called Quenacho. It´s made of a species of andean bambu, it´s a nice intrument too .

Thanks a lot. All your videos have been very helpful. I have been playing xiao for some time, and I jump now to my first shakuhatchi. No cracks yet, but they'll come sooner or later. Can you give some advices on how to prevent / fix cracks? Thanks a lot!!
Shakuhachi is 54cm, any flute longer or shorter than that is not a Shakuhachi 😉 and I used baby oil with tea tree oil mix to take care of my bamboo or wooden flute. If you use a microfiber to wipe it dry both inside and outside of the flute after every usage and take care of them by oil it won't cracked.

Was the xiao ever used for meditation like the shakuhachi is? Was any meditation music ever written for it like the shakuhachi honkyoku? Thanks!
lol, ANY instrument can be used for meditation or magick, why not? If you understand what it really is.

Xiao has a purer sound. Shakuhachi is different but beautiful too. Do they have the same scale?
Bamboo flutes are the more majestic sounding look up a bamboo xiao

I play the hole xiao too and I really recommend it instead the western style xiao

I can’t really tell you the exact model, but those aren’t glocks. 1 has grip panels.
