I’ve always appreciated this car! Factory twin turbo V-6 producing 600hp! Not many of them left these days, most of them were retired to the scrap yard because the car had more horsepower than the drivers had sense.
There were so many little things you could do to them to make them quicker...Hypertech chips, headlight removal, exhaust. Lightly modded GNs could do what's done in this video. Biggest problem a GN had was traction back in the day. For the guys that went to slicks they had to go to beadlocks to keep the tires from spinning in the wheels. I remember my one and only ride in a lightly modded 87 GN on April Fools day of 1989. With 3 big guys in the car being easy on the gas it would chirp the tires on take off up to 65mph. Then you could roll along at 55mph and punch it and roast the tires just like the video. Still and will always be a dream car for me. My dad almost bought me an 86 used GN, but I was a 17 year old 6ft 6in 320 lb boy and I had to drive it with my head cocked sideways and that was with T tops. Still wish I had my 82 El Camino but with a 454 big block, big cam and carb, and electric cut outs. I can just enjoy that sound all day long.
