I was at Beale as a first term airman/firefighter. I didn’t like Northern Cali at first but in hindsight, it was great. Really good people and stayed super busy during the wild land season.
I’m in the same boat, hated it at first but now I don’t mind it at all!
My cross training window is opening up next year and I’m praying Fire Protection is available

I’m interested in this job but also love guns and shooting haha, are there ranges on base that you can go to during down time?
I honestly have no clue! I know we have a shooting range at my base but I don’t know if it’s open for everyone

Which schedule would you recommend 48/48 or 48/72? Also, what are the chances of someone wanting to be stationed overseas?
I wish we had 48/72! Our base is 48/48. I have no clue on the stats for overseas!
It really just depends. I just got my assignment yesterday and my whole class got all stateside, but the class in front of us literally all got overseas.

Just be firm with your recruiter that THAT is the job you want. If you’re willing to wait a while, it can come to you.

Quick question: I am already an EMT, is it possible after the fire academy to go into paramedic school?
I don’t believe the Air Force can send you to paramedic school, just EMT.
What’s the best branch to do fire at that’s all I wanna do I’m in the army process i take my asvab Wednesday and my Meps the next day if someone could help me please let me know
Well I’m a little biased because I’m in the Air Force but I truly think the Air Force is the best branch to do fire! A lot more opportunities for different things in the Air Force

Our PA is broken so we have to keep our radios on us at the moment

around 72-96 hours a week

I waited about 3 months!

Within the 48 hours… I’d say like 2-3

I’m about to go to BMT than the tech school in San Angelo for Fire Protection. I hope I can find time to pursue a degree while holding this job in the Air Force.
