  • Dr Craig Swainey, who specializes in addiction medicine and is in long-term recovery himself, shares how a doctor decides whether methadone or Suboxone (buprenorphine) is a better treatment for Opioid Use Disorder for a particular person.
    -Safe, Comfortable Outpatient Detox
The Coleman Institute for Addiction Medicine has been a leading outpatient addiction treatment center since 1998. Our innovative withdrawal management programs, often referred to as The Coleman Method, have helped thousands of people free themselves from addiction to Alcohol, Opioids, and Benzodiazepines. Originally founded in Richmond, Virginia, our network has expanded to cover 14 cities across the US.
    -3 - 8 Day Opioid Detoxification Process
For short-acting opiates like oxycodone, most patients complete their detox and begin Naltrexone therapy within 5 days. Longer-acting opiates like Suboxone and Methadone typically take 8 days. Our standard opioid treatment package in Richmond, VA and Wellesley, MA includes the detox and 6 months of case management and Naltrexone therapy. As a non-addictive opioid blocker, Naltrexone dramatically reduces cravings so that patients can focus on their recovery. We have a 98% success rate for completing detoxification and starting Naltrexone therapy. During the detox, we work with patients and their families to develop an appropriate aftercare plan. We also offer a convenient, 3-day outpatient alcohol detox and a Rapid Benzodiazepine Detox.
    -Caring, Empathetic Environment
Our founder Dr. Peter Coleman understands first-hand the challenges our patients are facing due to his own personal struggle with the disease of addiction. He has been in long term recovery since 1984. Dr. Coleman has dedicated his career to treating addiction patients and creating a team and an environment conducive to long term recovery for his patients.

As an addict who’s relapsed 3 times after being on opiates starting with percocets and oxy and eventually ending up on heroin got clean on Suboxone stayed on it 2 years relapsed and the heroin I thought I was doing turned out to be 95% fentanyl… then the suboxone wouldn’t work for my withdrawals anymore actually made me sicker… had to get on methadone was the only thing that helped and god bless I’m sober again… that’s my experience with suboxone and methadone… subs were not helping at all with fentanyl… regular opiates and even real heroin sure stuffs works great, fentanyl tho… only methadone above 50mg helped me not have serious withdrawals…

This sounds a lot like where I'm at. I fooled myself into believing I was using heroin, but it has been mostly fentanyl. Fent seems to be so much more difficult to get clean from, and the detox is excruciating. And unless you can microdose subs, you will have to wait 5-6 days before taking them. Otherwise I'll go into precipitated withdrawals. I may have to switch to methadone as well, if I'm unable to stop.

I was using 100% pure FENT bc I had access to the DURAGESIC PATCHES. Each patch had 16mg of Fentanyl. 2 a day.
120 mg of methadone did not help me but 12mg of suboxone saved my life

@@paulallen6336 that's crazy, you have to wait 5 days before taking subs, cent is fast acting but still in your system after 5 days, I thought you start to withdraw after 3 hours? Surely it's out of your system quicker than 5 days, hope I'm making sense, anyway, I wish you all the best with whatever is happening.

Buprenophine increases the affinity for the opioid receptor more, strongly than fentanyl. Maybe it's the dosage form with naloxone, but I assure you that 0.8MG (and that's actually too much) in the right dosage form and the appropriate route of intake is completely sufficient. Especially if levomethadone hydrochloride is sufficient now. Buprenophine is also metabolized into a full-fledged opioid agonist, namely Teboin, I believe. It is not too weak but requires a certain amount of willpower that gives the buprenophine the time to work properly. If you had been injected with 0.4MG bupronophine as Temgesic injection solution, you would have been absolutely satisfied. You would have been high like shit. But injekting Buprenophin is dangerous, extremly dangerous. Methadon? From the beginning of its synthesis, methadone had the worst possible reputation, primarily due to its poor analgesic effect, duration of action and enormous addiction. Methadone is an alcohol and a full-fledged opioid agonist at the same time. It probably has an extremely “dissolving effect” and is not bad for long-term substitution. But the price you pay is above all your own sexuality and that is the driving force of the human psyche. You degenerate. There's nothing you can do to put yourself in greater shackles than going on a methadone program, or hydromorphone would probably be even worse. Dihydrocodeine is the worst, but in my country they are now actually substituting it with morphine sulfate. People get 1.6 grams of morphine sulfate here! Terrible. My advice, even if it feels good at first. Do not allow yourself to be dosed above 50MG methadone racemate or 25MG levomethadone as L-polamidone. And that's where I've come to the end of my advice. Be aware that if you take a high dose, you are already dead in the eyes of the medical profession. A hopeless case. I'm just telling it like it is, of course they deny it.

Because it's America and they want opiate-addicted people to suffer even more. Good times. But good for Austria for having better and more options for people with an actual disease. America is also extremely horrible if you have any kind of chronic pain. Remember America invented the war on drugs I mean the actual war on people as it should be called. I pray that fentanyl does not reach epidemic levels in Austria like it is here in America. And they will never stop the war on drugs here in America it makes too much money and employs too many people.

@@Heopful Substidol is morphine, and compi (compensan) is an opiode. So we just get the drug we were already taking on the street, just in a controlled enviroment. You go to your pharmacie daily in the morning and they give you your daily prescribed drug. On saturday and days before holidays you get it for the next day too cause the pharmacie is closed. And you can go on holidays for 4 weeks a year where you get it for the duration of the holiday. And if you work a job then you only have to come one day a week and get it for the whole week. So you pretty much just live a normal live as an "addict" with a job and family and a normal life.

Hi there, you sound like me; in the sense that I can take 16mg suboxone by noon and it hardly does crap for me (as in killing the pain) and its like 16mg doesn't faze me and I definitely don't feel shit from it (I take name brand strips) and I am also a um metabolizer so what that means is that I metabolize drugs faster than most other people and trust me whenever I say that if I had my old oxy script and I took 40mg by mouth at once, I'd be high!! By yet 8mg suboxone at once and I don't feel shit, so I take more and still am in pain! So the above comment is pretty much exact as far as what could possibly by causing your issues with methadone wearing off and I hope to God that won't be the case with me because it sucks!

At the 6:45 mark you’re talking about chronic pain and you MUMBLE something about an (OPD disorder??? Idk what you said, OPD or OPIE’s disorder or WHAT???) Now I heard OP USE disorder! Are you saying Opiate Use Disorder??? What does that have to do with Chronic pain. Now after playing it Over and over it sounds like you’re saying if someone presents to you with Chronic Pain and wants Sub., or Meth., “you have to really get into it with them…” cuz they must have an OPIE’s use disorder or Opiate Use disorder? But I’m not sure cuz you’re being so nonchalant about the whole thing idk what you’re saying. You can’t help people with Chronic Pain unless they go out and get on an opiate disorder, lol. So if you’ve got Chronic pain get on opiates so you can get Methadone or Suboxone.
That was a very lame 8:47 second informational video on the subject!
Very disappointing. I suggest you delete the video, put on your lab coat, enunciate and give us a good scientific explanation on Methadone vs Suboxone plz!
