- This is a tutorial for how to emulate a CRT TV screen in touchdesigner.
Toe file: phasespace.gumroad.com/l/crt-...

Some notes:
- the video quality has been degraded quite a lot by compression (through screen recording and/or through youtube), so the effect doesn't look quite as good as it should for a lot of the video unfortunately
- you can get the .toe file here: phasespace.gumroad.com/l/crt-screen-touchdesigner

Hi, thank you so much for this tutorial. I am building some late 80's early 90's backgrounds for my music and this is just perfect! May I offer one small piece of tutorial advice? You turn off your op viewers as your working. For me, this makes it hard to see where I have gone off course because the visual aids are not there. For those without a ton of experience, it's very easy to get lost without the opviewers. Just a small suggestion. Thank you for the very cool tutorials!
These tutorials are amazing. Please keep it up. They've inspired me to start experimenting with creating visuals for live shows. Can't wait to see more!
This is very lovely. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing! Nice that you also put it in a base and give it parameters
Excellent work synthesising a novel shadow mask for crt effect!
Nice tutorial, thanks!
this isn't working for me - the geometry tops give me an error ... i tried downloading the .toe file and i can't get that to work either. i'm new to touchdesigner so i know it's user error but it's kinda driving me crazy trying to figure out how to fix it lol.
Hm, I have no issue with the file even after I re-download it, I'm wondering if there was a touchdesigner update that has changed its behaviour. I still have version 2022.32660, can you tell me which version of touchdesigner you're using?
You file on Gumroad is broken by the way. Took a lot of debugging. Please make sure you have somehwat working files before you start charging for these things.
Hi, I checked the file and indeed there was a parameter reference in the resolution of the noise TOPs after the base that referenced the wrong operator. I have re-uploaded the file, so if you go on gumroad and download it again (you should find the link in the email you received after purchase) it will be fixed. The error didn't break the main effect though so I'm not sure why extensive debugging would have been required - maybe a different version of touchdesigner breaks it?
