- For Spanish learners, deciding when to use the imperfect vs. preterite past tenses can be confusing. It's often made more confusing by efforts to memorize dozens of situations and conjugations.
In my experience, it's a lot more effective (and interesting) to learn through context as you go. So in this video, you'll get an introduction to the concept of Preterite vs Imperfect - enough grammar to get you started. Then through lots of exposure to Spanish, you'll start building an intuition for when to use each tense.

Cuando yo era una niña, yo practicaba piano todos los dĂas . Luego me caĂ de la bicicleta y me rompĂ la muñeca. Afortunadamente me recuperĂ© por completo y ahora soy profesora de piano. Esta es una historia real .đ¶đčMuchas gracias por esta leccion excelente!đ

Hi, I just discovered your channel & it looks great! Do you have a video on your background of your own Spanish learning journey (if there is one, & you're not a native speaker, a la Super Holly)?
Thanks Lyssa! I donât have one yet, that would be a good idea though. The short story is Iâm a native English speaker who learned in school, on my own, and spending lots of time in South America, mainly Chile. Iâve since learned some other languages, and have learned how to learn a more effectively, which shapes a big part of what I try to share here. Thanks again for your comment, Iâll make a video on this one day soon
Gracias. Cuando era niña mis hermanos y yo caminĂĄbamos todos los dĂas a la escuela. Un dĂa, hubo una tormenta de nieve. No podemos caminar en la nieve. Pero a nosotros nos gustaba mucho beber chocolate caliente y hacĂamos ĂĄngeles en la nieve.
No pudimos caminar por la nieve ...nos gustaba tomar chocolate y hacer los ĂĄngeles de la nieve.
DirĂa asĂ pero no estoy seguro đ€Ș
Hello
@@Artemov78 gracias! buenas sugerencias. TambiĂ©n se podrĂa decir "no pudimos caminar en la nieve", para decir "we couldn't walk *in* the snow". Pero si quieres decir "We couldn't walk *because of* the snow", tu sugerencia (no pudimos caminar *por* la nieve, o debido a la nieve) serĂa mejor
