Bout time someone interviews Erik! Thanks for your time John. The interviews on yours and Erik’s channel are a wealth of documented knowledge! I don’t shoot competitively but I reload and shoot a ton of elr kinda stuff for fun. I’ve learned so much from this channel.
Thank you and thank you for the support.
Erik and F-Class John: I really like the videos! Erik If I were your sponsor, I'd be wondering about your dedication after hearing what you said during this video. I still love you guys.
ohh man !! this is it !! Long live to reloading room confessions.
Thank you!
The number one guy when it comes to reloading to me
Great to see my two favorite competitors / reloaders / teachers together. Always enjoyable and informative!!
Thank you for the kind words.
Like you I always looked forward to the deer camp camradery with old and young guys the way you interact with other shooters. As you get older, you remember the humor, and fellowship more than the sport. I miss the great people that have gone away.
Best comment ever... "It's just them"! As a newish person to this discipline, it's a lesson I will endeavour to remember every time I start looking for reasons why.
Thank you John. You and Eric are my 2 favorite people on CZcams. Best episode of Reloading Room Confessions to date. I have learned more from both of you than anyone else. Well, Winning in the Wind has taught me a lot as well. Ok, 3 of you. Please do him soon too.
Erik’s another guy that’s easy to listen to.
GREAT JOB with the questions and interviewing John! With interviews sometimes half the equation is the interviewer. Well done. Eric is awesome as usual!
This was a cool interview John as I came to your channel through Eric's channel.
Thank you.
Same! Agreed! Great job
Listening to guys like Erik, it seems like their shooting ability is a given or a constant and the real competition revolves around equipment and reloading. Great interview and thoughtful questions. Thanks.
I would like to see y’all do a video on cartridges. like why a 284 over 7saum or others. and are improved cartridges like the shehane worth the extra work. And what cartridges to stay away from for new long range shooters?
Love getting knowledge from Erik. 👍🏻
Great video. Thank you both for doing these interviews. Good luck to both of you at the range.
Thanks for the video John. Always interesting and informative. Thanks to Eric for helping with your video.
Great information, Thanks Eric and John. I have learned so much from both of your video's....
Thank you and I appreciate the kinds words. Glad you're getting something from the videos that helps.
I keep waiting for Erik to post your interview of him.
Its great content
And it will save him time!
I really enjoy Erik's vids. I also like Jason's input. They complement each other well. Great business management too, I've bought two tuners and one tuner brake, individually, and all were on their way to Australia the same day. Thank you both. Thank you too John.
Thank you.
Thanks Eric, I used the backside of the mitutoyo to setup my FL sizing die from the base of the lock ring to the base of the die. Greatest info ever man!!
Awesome interview!
Great video John. I always like listening to what Eric has to say about reloading.
Love watching both these guys. Lots of knowledge and don't mind sharing it.
Great interview! Nice to hear Eric from the other side of the mic. I was really surprised with the bolt maintenance. You learn every day. I used to only do it if it got really wet or yearly. I'm now going to incorporate it in my cleaning routine. Thank you guys.
Great interview, big thank you to both of you guys for sharing your knowledge!!
Thank you.
Great interview - thank you so much, you guys are great for all of us out here - keep up your great work Mr F :)
Thank you, I appreciate the support.
Thanks for everything you and erik are doing. Been watching you both a few years now. You both and johnys reloading really inspired me to roll my own. I just dumped a huge pile of money on setting up a reloading room and getting all the stuff to reload. Got a tv next to the bench to follow your instructions. Only thing left to get is primers!
Wow, that was great. Always learning and you and EC are people that I feel that I can trust and count on to give solid advice. Thanks!!
Thank you for the kind words.
I have been following both of you for a very long time, keep up the good work!
Thank you
Having subscribed for quite awhile to both Erik’s channel and John’s channel I have learned so much. You both have removed a lot of mystery that surrounds F Class competition. And shown it (for me) on far more receptive terms to the shooting public. It sounds like F Class and PRS numbers are growing and I would think you have played a significant role in that growth. Thanks to you both for being open to sharing your knowledge and your journeys.
So much knowledge in the room. I love information and John thanks for the interview with Eric.
I like the episode very much. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
38:12 Not every gun is a quarter minute gun, .... and people need to hear that.
Not ever shooter is a half MOA shooter either, ...... people need to appreciate that too.
Huge piece of advice there!
I know my 6 CM is average 1/3 minute gun, because I have shot multiple group that are .350ish in size, however alot of days, I am not a .350 shooter!
Very true....but shooters can improve while not every gun can.
You’re right about setting up a resizing die. When explained it,I got it.
I have a little crow gunwerks,"worlds finest trimmer" in the drill, I learned on a lee case trimmer with locking stud in the drill, far as sizing, I just smoked the neck with a lighter learning now I have all the correct measuring equipment, much better..
Great interview Sir. Thank You. I love it when the interviewer gets interviewed. ❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👀😎
Thank you
Great interview John. Loved it 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you John, great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
This was pretty much the conversation I’d have with Erik if I had the chance. Thanks!
Wow John you are an excellent interviewer!... your questions are all interesting, relevant and perfectly timed... that was smooth like silk. EC is also a very talented interviewee!
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the kind words.
Thanks for the collaboration and this massive information dump, thank you both, everything from our heart beat to eyes right on till impack, it's all one consistent system, should be
Glad you find it helpful. Thank you for the support.
@@FClassJohn always, I love the authenticity and openness you guys have. Very skilled craft
It was great seeing you two there. And thank you for letting me snag a photo.
It was awesome seeing you there too!!
Man I feel like I cheated in class. Got into reloading 3 years ago and started our with advice from a good friend and this guy, Eric Cortina. I got to step over alot of stumbling blocks and got good real quick. Still improving every load it seams like, but never really experienced the frustration I know alot of people had to go through. Thank you so much for these videos!
That's awesome and why Erik and I do this. We both have suffered along our paths and if we can help people avoid that pain it makes us happy.
Great video! Follow both of you religiously!
Thank you for your support.
I don't shoot F-Class, but here are my favorite 2 F-Class shooters. I have learned a whole lot for you 2 guys that i can use in my shooting style. I'm sub'd to both.
Thank you very much. I'm glad you find us interesting to watch.
One of...if not the BEST interview Erik Cortina has ever done... ( & I am not an E.C. fanboy but...I think the man has developed some humility! ) ...😎
Thank you
Great interview John. Erik is a fine contributor.
Thank you
From all the shooting done here in South Africa. 2 things I've learned from Mr Cortina is, 1) to correct set up my sizing die according my chamber and 2) to use good components and stop weight sorting. Tanks John is was very fun to watch (would like to see that Mr Corina has is the corner for the poor folks I'm just to far away)
Great interview God bless you all
Thank you
Full length or neck size. Lol. Your video on the set up on the full length die. So good
great stuff good luck john
Thank you.
Thanks.................... great stuff !!
Thank you
Yup, trimming sucks! Most influential skill I learnt from Eric is how to setup the FL Die! Thanks! Good luck for the shoot Gent's.
Great interview
Thank you.
Nice interview. Wish Jason had a part in. 👍👍👍
I ended up breaking down and picked up a pound of Vihtavuori N135 for my 6.5 Grendel now all I use for rifles and handguns is Vihtavuori powders. They're without a doubt the most consistent powders I've ever used. My hunting load for my 6.5 Grendel AR15 I can load 5 to 10 shots and shoot a half inch group as long as I do my part but the ES has been between 7 to 9fps every time I've checked it and I check it every time I load a new batch of ammo it don't matter if its summer or winter. The stuff is pricey but the amount of time it saves and as easy as it is to work up a load that'll work it's worth every penny. As always I really enjoyed this video brother keepem coming!!!
What grain weight? Been getting curious for my 6ARC.
I've always subscribed to the buy and copy the best so ultimately you know it's you not the system screwing things up. Once you know for sure you can outperform the system then start looking for things to improve. Until then, you'll never be sure if the change worked or you just had a good day.
Yep, well said.
N150 in 308 is super consistent also! Not the fasted but really awesome through temperature changes.
Thanks for visiting John.
It was my pleasure. I always learn when we talk and you were such a gracious host.
I finally started full length sizing bout 6 yrs ago and aint looked back since, my groups shrunk dramatically, in all my rifles, got good brass, bullets, primers, barrels, scopes, and it was like night n day, if my rifle shoots over .4 something is wrong and it's usually me me me
Never considered changing the spring but its a good point to clean them periodically. Lots of things affect accuracy. I check and re torque action screws every now and then and do the same with scope mounts. I also work the elevation and windage turrets. Chamber and receiver gets cleaned every time the barrel’s cleaned. I think I’d be shocked at the state of my bore if I used a borescope! I shoot rifles until other variables are taken care of and if still not shooting well then I scope the barrel . At £800 a pop, barrel changes are not cheap.
Great video. Thank you both.
I think the part about "if Lapua doesn't make it, don't shoot it", would get some arguments from the benchrest guys shooting 6 PPC.
I said “If Lapua doesn’t make brass for it, don’t chamber the round”
BR guys shoot Lapua brass in their PPC’s. 😉
@@ErikCortina Yes. 220 Russian made into 6PPC.
That was great.
Thank you.
Both cool guys.
Very nice of you to say
What about keeping cases all the same on how many times fired ? Great vids as always
Thanks for your video man always enjoy yalls videos.i appreciate all the insightyall share. I was wondering did I hear Eric right that he has someone that loads his ammo for him? And i dont mean this in any bad way or anything but How does that work out and you have confidence in the ammo?also does that not take any enjoyment out of shooting i know part of why i like shooting so much is because i load my own ammo.also who is it? lol thanks again yall and God bless
You guys are great and please say hi to Jeremy.
Thank you and will do
For bench rest , would it still not matter on sorting components? Or does it just not have an effect on precision?
My two favorite gun tubers one interview the other one..... John did Eric let you try out the 747??
That's nice of you to say and sadly no, I didn't get to try the 747
@@FClassJohn that's a shame...come on Eric let the poor man try out your toy
So uh..
Who balanced that ceiling fan?
All I see is all the federal match primers in the back lol
Area 419 makes a advisable sizing dies now
Great video John. My only question- WHERE on earth do you guys get your Berger bullets? It seems near impossible to get any of the common calibers in this day and age.
These guys are like walking advertisements. I'm sure they get orders straight from Berger
I can tell you I don't a single thing from Berger (or any other component company for that matter). I buy them at retail just like everyone else.
Hey Erick, any tuner that you want to give away? 😁😆
I no a die I want. That isn't made.
I want a sizing die that small base my 308, and another that small bases my 300aac. Currently you must increase set back to reach the base. I want a reach the base only. Then I will resize the body.
Seems easy in my mind.
What is a good way to clean where the brass and the bullet goes
I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you're asking. Do you mean in the chamber? If so Boretech makes a great chamber cleaning kit you can get.
The one spot to lube on a bolt that everybody forgets and the camera man didn’t follow. What spot was it camera man?
I wish Lapua would make 7mm Rem Mag Brass
John, I was wondering what you and Eric think of Bat Actions?
I can't speak for Erik but I have several friends who absolutely love them. I've never personally owned one but I know they make great actions.
Not on this topic...can you do a video on spotting scopes you guys use? Does everyone use spotting scopes with reticles? How high is the magnification? Can you cheap out and not go crazy?
Yeah I can do a video on that. And no, nobody in our sport uses reticles. Maybe over in PRS but not enough class. There’s really no point.
My amp mate hate lapua brass...
For ejecting that is
I'm going to start baking chocolate chip cookies now
Oh that sounds good!!

Do you guys clean brass? If so what's the go to method? Cheers!
Erik doesn't clean brass. I clean mine in rice but that's just to knock off any big dirty, not to get it shiny.
@@FClassJohn Really? I was just about to go all out and buy a wet rotary tumbler and stainless media, dehydrater for drying etc etc etc. So just a vibratory with rice?... Thanks so much John!
@@n8o8n Everybody does it differenlty for different reasons. Some guys want sparkly brass because they feel it's more consistent. I have neck and hand issues so I try to make tumbling as quick and painless as possible but I do admit my brass isn't as consistency clean in the necks or primer pockets as I'd ideally like. You have to know what works for you and sometimes that just means testing different methods.
@@FClassJohn Appreciate the replies. I'll just have to try a few techniques and see if it makes any difference for me. Thanks again.
do you need a trimmer for a br cartridge with 40 degree shoulder?
I can't say for sure on a BR but I've had other 40 degree cartridges and yes, they still grow.
@@FClassJohn what kind should i get? that wont break the bank
@@treece1 I think this is a great one for the money amzn.to/3F3LiRy
What is the triple action cleaner he is talking about?
It's not a cleaner like you're thinking. It's this stuff amzn.to/3MFJNvJ
@@FClassJohn thanks for the reply & information.

F-class John, time to upgrade to new camera.
It wasn't the camera, it was the loose nut behind it. (it's a great camera), my settings just got messed up.
@@FClassJohn 😂
Based on the title I thought Eric Cortez had some highschool gorls in his reloading room giving him a hand.
Dies.....checkout, exact reloading dies. Like to know your thoughts?
I'm sorry but I don't understand the question.
Eric you are
An apprentice needs to be able to recreate the quality of the guy that trained him then he can make changes I don't care what trade you in the same thing
When he mentioned nationals and planning on winning, we all know who got their heart broke last year, maybe things will change this year ,
Especially at a top tier level, you always go into a match with the goal of winning but there can be only one so heartbreak is just part of the game most of the time.
Eric seems to me to look a little run down. He may have lost some weight as well which aint a bad thing, most of the time.
