Rango is such a good western because its a western about self identity instead of revenge. Its also so fucking good because its about animals, while most animal movies are about them being cute and symmetrical, Rango is entirely different. It literally makes every messed up and unsymmetrical. This movie is a masterpiece, RIP that there will never be a second one. I am going to show this to my generation of kids and below.

Just now noticed the contrast between Jake having a rapid-firing minigun tail to Rango's line there.
Like Rango's saying that Jake has superior weapons, skill, and experience; but, at the end of the day, one tiny bullet from a common 6 shooter in the hands of a fake with just enough nerve and luck can still be enough to kill the grim reaper.
Doesn't matter who you are, what you've done, or what you believe; at the end of the day, "It only takes one bullet."

This movie stands on par with other masterpieces such as Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. The reason why I say this is because the movie gives great depth on characters such as rango posing as a hardened sheriff to sound tough but in reality he is a scared lizard who feels like he doesn’t belong. He keeps up this lie for a while before he is confronted by Rattlesnake Jake who shows all of his companions that he is a scared and fearful outsider. After this he is cast away and leaves the town and realizes that he has to toughen up. He then does a full 180 on his demeanor and directly challenges rattlesnake jake showing his resolve is truly shining when he says his famous “it only takes one bullet”. Many people may say that it is easy to pull the trigger on someone but the single action takes serious resolve and determination to do so. That is why Rango is a masterpiece in my opinion.
Edit: so I kinda realized marvel endgame is kinda trash.

  • @justsomejerseydevilwithint4606

When Jake was calling him out and effectively bamishing rango, I was SCREAMING at the screen for rango to USE HIS FECKING BRAIN.
Because he may not have killed those jenkins brothers, but you know what rango DID kill with one bullet, that every single town member can attest to? The Bird. The ONE thing Jake fears, Rango DID Kill with One Bullet, in front of THE ENTIRE TOWN.
And they just IGNORE that for a darkest hour.
Really, though, that's my one major gripe with the movie.

    • @eidolon1426
      @eidolon1426 Před 2 lety +26

Are... are you serious right now?
      Rango did that *BY ACCIDENT.*
The townspeople might believe that it would be a valid counter-argument to what Jake said, but it's not about what THEY think of Rango that determines his decision to leave, it's about the fact that *Rango KNOWS* that Jake is telling the truth. Jake could've been bluffing the whole time, but as long as *Rango* believed that Jake had a point, then Rango would've chosen to leave the town.
Rango knows that he killed the bird by complete accident. What Jake said cuts through Rango's facade and right to his own insecurities.
Even if the WHOLE town had disagreed with Jake, it wouldn't matter because *RANGO* agreed with him.
It's not about whether or not the character's make the most absolutely perfect and calculated decision available to them, it's about whether or not they make the choices that THEY, as a character, WOULD make given their personality and history in the context of the situation.
The townspeople didn't want to be killed for trying to stand up to Jake, and once Rango submitted, they would be too distracted by that to even bother. Rango submitting to Jake would potentially make them second-guess themselves too. And their Sheriff abandoning them is going to suck the air right out of their lungs.
Rango wouldn't have tried lying and pretending like he killed the bird on purpose to Jake/the townspeople.
Rango is insecure because he doesn't even know what kind of person he really is, and the only thing he can take pride in is his acting skills...
And Jake sees right through the act and tells him that the kind of person he truly is is a coward.
Jake cut right to Rango's core insecurities, right through the one thing Rango thought he was good at.
And Rango wasn't going to argue back past that point because he *didn't want to DIE.* Because he *was* a coward. If he tried proving Jake wrong, Jake would've killed him. So his only course of action was to do as Jake said.
But it doesn't even MATTER if Jake was actually right or wrong about Rango, all that matters is that Rango *believed* Jake was *right.*
Rango is perfectly consistent in this scene. Even the townspeople are behaving within character, because if any of them speak up and try to defend Rango, Jake would just kill them, and they seem like they don't want to die either.
I'm sorry, but you definitely misread that scene. No offense, but all the stuff I just listed is *very* "surface-level." Maybe it's been awhile since you last watched it?
