Class 12- Deep Neckline Theory [What changes to make if front & back neck is deep]

  • In this video I have shown what changes to make to the pattern when you are going deep on the back neck as well. When the front neck and back neck is deep, there will not be any support for the dress at that point and hence it tends to slip off the shoulder. Hence, we need to reduce it from the shoulder. What proportions to reduce is shown in this video.

    Hi Krishna, did not find reply option under your comment, hence replying here. The back neck deep theory is applicable when both the necklines are deep. If one of them [either back or front] is high, then there is support for the neckline and hence this theory would not be applicable. Hope I am clear...and thank you for your appreciation :-)

    In this back theory i hv one doubt, ie u started the back sh to sh 15". If the Sh to Sh is 19" Wt we should do. cause u started from 7.5".
    back neck depth i need 8" & front neck depth 6.5"
    sh to sh is 19" is 9.5. height and stout person. pls I'm waiting for ur reply eagerly

    In this video i have a doubt, if front neck is deep then we shifted 1/2" in the shoulder from the neck line in basic bodice pattern,is that sufficient for all depths of front neck? As specified in other comments reply u said this video is applicable when both the front and back neck are deep. From what depth of front and back necks , the necks are considered deep mam? Please clarify for front and as well as back neck.

    hi ma'am...
    we r reducing d back shoulderline here, in this case, what about the front shoulder line? do v need to reduce it as that of the back neckline? if not sewing frnt n back neck depth same...in that case, the shoulder lines would be different, then how to align them?

    Hi sa vita, I like d way you explain every little details about cutting and sewing, I wud like too knw dat , should d arm round line b shifted even in d case of front neck depth of more den 1 inch, or is dat it's only applied to back neck, can front b kept normal n back b drafted as you ve shown, I mean m a bit confused, plz explain .

    • @SavisFashionStudio
      @SavisFashionStudio  Před 8 lety

      +AZRAH AGA Hi, thanks for the compliment...... The back neck deep theory applies only when the front and back neck both are deep. That is when there is no support for the dress at the neck part, hence we need to shift the armround line in [towards the neck]. If for example the back neck is deep but front is not deep then there is support for the dress neckline and this theory would not apply.

      When one of the necklines is high, the garment has support at the shoulder and hence no need to reduce the shoulder.

      Thank you. Draft the sleeves the same way as learnt but before cutting the pattern, measure the curves and ensure it matches with the armhole curves on the body pattern, if it is less/more, increase/reduce ease and redraw the curves.
