    2L non-turbo? I like it already! Call me a little crazy and old school but as a retired mechanic I can tell you that a Turbocharger SIGNIFICANTLY shortens engine life for the sake of performance! (or in some cases barely adequate performance)

    Good looking car , for youngsters , the more features on a car , the more maintenance , and issues. My second car was a 1988 Suzuki Samurai , I was smart enough not to get rid of her , 30 years later still warm , and cozy in my heated garage loaded with tons of upgrades , 0- 60 in 24 hrs flat , quarter mile still on the works 😬. I also own a 1986 Samurai , and a 1984 Ford Ranger all are safe , and sound in my garage away from the New England cold weather.

      My main gripe is the loose steering because there is nothing that can be done to it to make it tighter of as yet without costly custom modifications.
      The exhaust ports on the other hand are an easy thing to change out with either changing just the tips or doing it right and installing a good performance after market cat-back exhaust system. Which I am sure this car will have plenty of after market support once it starts selling. But if the aftermarket were to come out with a kit to make the steering tighter in the near feature I might consider a Corolla hatch. I would rather see a hotter model with more power and tighter steering and suspension from the factory though. Something more comparable to a Honda Civic Si.

    Did anyone compare this to a Mazda3 for driving comparisons? This looks much better than the Mazda hatch in my opinion although I would probably buy the Mazda sedan instead if it were offered in a manual. I have owned since new a 2006 Mazda3 5sp 2.0L and still enjoy driving it. I am skeptical of all the new cars with smaller engines and turbo stuck on them and I think the naturally aspirated motors have a better linear power band and get better mpg overall. I know they show that a turbo motor gets better mpg on paper but I don't believe in the real world you can enjoy the turbo power without sacrificing fuel mileage to the NA motor. I average 30-33 mpg locally in my Mazda3 all the time and get to enjoy winding it out some.

    The transmission is not a CVT. It´s called an e-CVT but it has nothing in common with the CVT´s we know. It´s a planetary gear which is always fixed in place and the smaller e motor is choosing gears continuously but not like in previous generations with the cones and the belt. It´s 1000x better than any other automatic transmission.

    I like the car so far, but, no, you can’t comfortably accommodate two six-footers in the back! The back is super small
    Also, the only Corolla worth owning? I think this dude must have a much different view of what a car should be than me. I’ve had over 25 vehicles in my life, four of them Toyotas (all Corollas.) I’ve had a 9th, 10th, 11th, and now 12th generation. Hands down best vehicles I’ve owned. My 2014 Corolla S had the smoothest and best-geared manual I’ve ever owned. 1-5 for acceleration, then when you’re up to speed, slip it into 6th and it BARELY slips fuel. With a tailwind, I’ve got in the low 50’s (MPG) maybe times. Awesome car. I wish the 2019 had the six-speed, but I got it for my wife, she prefers auto. The paddle shift on a CVT is pretty cheesy though, if I’m honest. These cars are so reliable, good on fuel, and run unbelievably smooth (the engine, I mean.) I do an oil change every 5000mi (8000kms) and, when I go to change the oil, it looks practically new. I’ve never had an engine run THAT clean. Such a pleasure to own and maintain

    Best colour in and out and sadly not available in uk along with the 2.0 petrol manual, shame Toyota.

    Great video, what I don't understand is how you call this a 2019 model when it goes on sale in 2018? Is it normal for the American market to add a year?

    • @itallogodoy5058
      @itallogodoy5058 Před 6 lety

      As far as I know, in to the second half of the year, they can make the car as Year 18/ Model 2019, in conclusion, a 1819

    The car looks real good but Toyota in it’s conservative mindset has put the wrong motor in it, it needs the 8AR-FTS as an option and dump that CVT transmission. Then it will have the go to go along with it looks

    Launch gear?????
    Yes know what It is but launch????.
    Perhaps Cape Canaveral would be better if you want to launch.
    Corolla, a great looking car that goes well, cheap to run, extremely reliable and well made.
    Not really made to fit 4 adults but that suits me fine.
    If you want loads of room you buy a bigger vehicle.
    Simple

    Like the styling and color however the rear overhang seems a bit much. Have to navigate that massive bumper to put stuff in the rear hatch. I'll never get a CVT transmission car again! Their rubbery performance is the worst! Especially when attempting to shift from front to rear drive quickly when making y turns with cars barring down on you!

    • @sic22l
      @sic22l Před 6 lety +1

      Rear overhang is ok, the bumper sticks out too much.
      It has a mechanical first gear so it launches quickly.

    I don't think I could stomach any color other than black, to better blend/hide that fish face front styling (which looks too much like an iA). Plus, not a fan of the dual chrome fake exhaust ports. Looks tacky - they should have stuck with the well-done single exhaust pipe styling of the Corolla iM.

    Terrible review. Such an immature reviewer. This is not a turbo engine. It’s a great car for the average consumer. He’s trying for it to be something it’s not meant to be. That isn’t its mission. I’ve tested the car and it drives so well. Phenomenally well, and it’s so much more comfortable for my
    Body type than the Civic.
