Refracted ray doesn't always bend towards normal.
In glass slab when the light enters from rarer medium to denser medium then refractive Ray is always bent towards the normal but in prism when the light enters from rarer to denser medium then it is not always bend then normal. why?
The light ray is always bent towards the normal when it enters from a rarer medium to a denser medium. This is because the speed of light is slower in a denser medium than in a rarer medium. When light enters a denser medium, it has to travel a shorter distance in the same amount of time, so it bends towards the normal.
In a prism, the light ray may not always bend towards the normal when it enters from a rarer medium to a denser medium. This is because the prism is shaped in such a way that the light ray is refracted twice. The first time the light ray is refracted, it bends towards the normal. The second time the light ray is refracted, it bends away from the normal. The overall effect of the two refractions is that the light ray may not bend towards the normal.
The amount of bending of the light ray depends on the angle of incidence of the light ray, the refractive index of the prism, and the angle of the prism. If the angle of incidence is small, the light ray will bend only slightly towards the normal. If the angle of incidence is large, the light ray will bend more towards the normal. The refractive index of the prism also affects the amount of bending. The higher the refractive index, the more the light ray will bend towards the normal. The angle of the prism also affects the amount of bending. The larger the angle of the prism, the more the light ray will bend away from the normal.
Here are some examples of how the light ray may bend when it enters a prism from a rarer medium to a denser medium:
If the angle of incidence is small and the refractive index of the prism is high, the light ray will bend significantly towards the normal.
If the angle of incidence is large and the refractive index of the prism is high, the light ray will bend even more towards the normal.
If the angle of incidence is small and the refractive index of the prism is low, the light ray will bend only slightly towards the normal.
If the angle of incidence is large and the refractive index of the prism is low, the light ray may actually bend away from the normal.
