Movies, games, and the occasional editorial.
From A-Z list films, video games, and other overlooked goodness.
I always laugh at that giant kid in clips whenever it shows up.
I've never seen it before now, definitely hilarious though!
@@evilbob840 I'd watch an entire movie of it, if it was all just like that.
i've seen a longer clip of it completely out of context. While hilarious, i also find it oddly menacing, but that might just be me.
@@peterstangl8295it's just you 😂
0:00 Gnaw food of the Gods 2
2:30 Curse 2 the bite
4:33 Waxwork 2
5:55 Firestarter 2
8:21 Meatballs 2
Funny enough, I'm watching waxworks 2, right now
You can never go wrong with Screaming Mad George doing the makeup and special effects.
In the book of Firestarter, one of the evil scientists mentions that Charlie's powers will grow exponentially as she goes through puberty, and she will lose control and "crack the Earth in two like a china plate". Seeing as she survives at the end, that always felt like a loose end. Glad somebody ran with it to some extent.
I LOVE the WaxWork movies. They're absolutely bonkers, but they're so completely shamelessly wacky.
It even promises sequels with the idea of playing 'God's Playstation' but I guess it never caught on.
5:49 is that Bruce Campbell? You gotta shout out Bruce. Man stays underrated.
That is indeed The Chin.
That segment of the movie is hilarious.
Yes his bit is great. Well worth a watch.
He was the best part of the movie
1:10...... I SPIT MY WATER OUT !!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Get out of here!
"Get the 🤬 outta here!"
😂😂😂
No one expects Bobby. :D
Food of the Gods II also had a home Laserdisc release....always forgetting about laserdisc, poor laserdisc :(
Waxworks and Waxworks 2 are a few of my all-time favorites.
"Meatballs II features an alien named Meathead."
Excuse me, WHAT?!!!!
80's, you so crazy.
cocaine is a hell of a drug
I've seen the movie years and years ago. All I remember is how the alien got it's name, basically:
Kid: "What's your name? Name? Me Ted, you?"
Alien: "Me Ted"
I think he said Meathead
Back in 1993 there was a show on Comedy Central called Drive-In Reviews. That's where I first heard of Curse II: The Bite. The clips they showed grossed me out so much, I still haven't seen the movie.
For me, the Bruce Campbell segment of Waxwork II is the greatest part of the movie. Hilarious.
This is the first time I've seen that giant kid. The 80's were truly a special time.
All great choices and highly enjoyable especially Waxworks 2 and The Bite
I absolutely love the Waxwork movies. Got the combined set on DVD. Anthony Hickox (The director) said in the commentary that the satanic alter scean was pretty much the theme of his hollywood parties. Also, having written the script portraying American high school/university students, but being from a British background, Galligan helped the Hickox rewright lines, as they were full of Britishisms and experiances Americans would not identify with.
I loved the Curse 2 as a kid. I’ll pretty much watch anything with Jill Schoelen
Ah, yes, dear Jill. DC Cab, Cutting Class, The Stepfather, Phantom of the Opera, Popcorn. Lovely girl and a real '80s movie star. Pour one out for my misspent youth.
@@gspendlove Don't forget Hot Moves.
She was naked in The Stepfather, pour one out for you being a horny teen@@gspendlove
Meatballs 2 ran CONSTANTLY on HBO in the early to mid 90’s. I swear that thing played everyday after school! While I was watching this I remembered how hard kid me laughed at the part of the alien asking who farted, and you had it as the stinger! Must have made you laugh too! Keep up the good work Cecil! Love your channel and I promote it anywhere online that I can give you a shoutout!
On Curse 2, I'm with Indiana Jones on this one: "Snakes... why did it have to be snakes?"
(For the record, I don't hate snakes, but the idea of turning into a pile of snakes makes me very uncomfortable...)
I find it ironic that Snake Plissken turns into a pile of snakes.
Wax Work 2 Is an insane sequel, even if I admit I adore the first one, but this one had amazing homages, like a classic Haunted House story but with Bruce Campbell and the Alien one was just hysterical. Is quite a blast. Also, what kind of movie imagined a cute E.T. getting high. 🤣 That scene would have fitted nicely on a section of MAD magazine.
I actually think part 2 is better known than the original. I hear about it far more.
@@Sweetestsadist I got to agree with that, even the JoBlo channel uses a Waxwork 2 scene in their horror section intro.
Every time I see the cover for waxwork ll, I always see Christopher Lambert.
It's Karl from Die Hard, RIP Alexander Goudonov.
Yeah, I can see the lamb bert in there😵💫😁
Curse 2 might not be a true sequel, but the idea of a man slowly turning into snakes definitely fits the genre of Lovecraft.
Absolutely! Lovecraft played with body horror a lot in his own work, so it at least fits thematically.
Eh. Snakes was more Robert E. Howard's phobia.
He actually does have a story about a woman being turned into a snake
I knew about and deliberately skipped most of these. And I will defend both Waxwork movies as high art any day of the week.
Call it a hunch, but I feel like Jeffrey Combs could have starred in ANY of these.
Yes! I love these videos because it gives me new movies to watch. I still blame you for my husbands love of Grizzley. Also he complained that there wasn't a Grizzley 2 exploring after he made me watch it last night
Anything with Malcolm McDowell is awesome to watch. He was even able to carry a lame movie like SUING THE DEVIL, where a law student sues Satan for $8 trillion, and Satan actually shows up in court to defend himself.
This sound like an awesome movie.
That sounds amazing. What kind of movie is it? Comedy? Drama?
@@viljamtheninja It's a drama, and the premise is way more promising than the movie's execution. McDowell (who's the only recognizable name in the cast) acts amazing, as always. But the rest of the movie around him is nowhere near his level. Still worth watching, tho, if you get a chance.
@@deanfranz Ah that's a bummer, it is a really great premise, would be interesting to use a courtroom as framing for essentially a theological-ethical debate.
I'd recommend a little flick called The Caller, which I think you can still find here on YT. It stars Malcolm along with Madolyn Smith. It gets a little bit tedious in the second act, but stick with it because the ending is a real whammer.
4:39 I still have a lot of fun with that sequel may Anthony Hickox Rest In Peace.
Another fun installment Cecil👍👍
The thumbnail of Meathead made me grin. Meatballs II seemed to air every other day on HBO for a few years back in the 80s (and in the alternating days, either The Pirate Movie or Zapped was on!).
The guy with the bad toupee at the beginning is from psyfactor chronicles of the paranormal. There's a show I'd love to see you cover in more detail.
Excellent as always.
Really digging 2 videos a week.
For googling reasons: PSI Factor: chronicles of the paranormal I liked the show. Dan Aykroyd hosted the show.
Waxwork one was brilliant. 2 was only redeeming for the Bruce Campbell vingette.
Waxworks II: Lost in Time is legit awesome. That is all. :)
Love the jumping from movie parody sequence to parody sequence. Love Bruce Campbell getting brutalized in funny ways. Also the mock Godzilla bit with badly dubbed "Oh no!"😊
1:10 The greatest kid acting I have ever seen!
"And now I want you to get the fuck outta here!" I haven't laughed so hard in a while! 😂 Thanks, Cecil!
You are welcome :)
I have seen The Curse and the Curse II, but I was not aware that that any of the other sequels even existed. A lot of things flying under the radar.
Thanks for another fun one.
Thanks for including Meatballs 2, I am a huge fan of that. Its one of my guilty pleasure movies I grew up with. It's just a cheesy good time.
1:10, OOOOHHH so that's where this scene comes from!
I bloody love Waxwork 2. Would love a 4K cut
Waxwork and Waxwork 2 are two of my favorite movies! The callbacks to all the horror movies before it was amazing!
I loved the Meathead thumbnail. Thanks for reminding me these are still out there, Cecil.
Growing up back in the 70's when I frankly couldn't say boo to a goose, I vaguely recall seeing the Trailer for Food of the Gods. ANd finding it terrifying. Ditto the poster for the Incredible Melting Man. Some things don't live up to the marketing.
Ah man, I remember seeing commercials on Sci Fi for FIrestarter 2. Never watched though, may need to track it down.
Props for the Kreator reference! Amazing album!
EX! TREME! AGGRESSION!!!
Curse II is such an interesting sequel to me mainly because of the fact that the composer, Carlo Maria Cordio (Troll 2 composer), also did music for Beyond the Door III, and Witch Story all in the same year (1989).
The soundtracks for all three movies were compiled into one album.
I worked in a video store for most of the 90s and have no memory of most of these. Time to catch up.
I remember watching Meatballs 2 so many times I know what the people were saying as you showed those clips funny enough I didn't realize I had forgotten the film till you showed it
That final clip from meatballs 2, after the credits surely inspired Abe from the oddworld games . Even the voice and fartinng
In Malcolm McDowell's defense, he is ALWAYS chewing up the scenery in every movie he's in!😉👍
Man when i was a kid i loved meatballs 2, i had no idea what the first movie even was cause i was too young. Brings back alot of nostalgia thinking about it lol.
i grew up with Waxwork 2! it was one of the ten VHS movies i owned and i watched them over and over again.
I have seen all these. It sure takes me back remembering them
Love waxwork 2
I've watched The Curse 2: the bite so many times as a kid and had no idea the name of the movie until this video. Thanks, people did not believe me when I told them this movie existed lol
.
Waxwork and Waxwork 2 I love those films plus Waxwork 2 has a cameo by Bruce "The Chin" Campbell
I remember Curse and Curse 2 very well. They both freaked me out as a kid. I didn’t even want to touch the VHS tapes they were recorded on lol
Never forgot about waxworks as it was a frequent rental and watch on cable back in the day. Sequel wasn’t quite as good, a bit more campy, but I still enjoyed it. Firestarter series I never got into but I did enjoy the book and film. Might go back to it someday.
I'm pretty sure the mad scientist with the bad toupee was also the proprietor of the costume shop in the "Goosebumps" episodes "The Haunted Mask" & "The Haunted Mask 2". That would make sense as the entire show was a Toronto Ontario production.
The only reason I remember Gnaw is because I watched on a UHF network in the 90s uncensored... for some reason. I imagine someone got fired for it, the Saturday afternoon monster movie soon stopped after it.
2:05 Yeah... that's the bit that stuck with me.
Meatballs 2 was on HBO every day in the mid 80’s
Please more of these videos!!! So many weird wacky sequels out there
I hope you cover the absolutely ridiculousness that was Rock & Roll High School 2!
You missed that Waxwork II's set pieces were spoofs of other films (Alien, The Haunting, etc).
I just saw Meatballs 2 and wondered what trivia you had for one of my favorite childhood movies!
Everything else was a bonus!
Pure Rat Chaos! New band name.
I had no idea Bert I. Gordon had only died in 2023 at 100 years old.
I will always remember Meatballs 3 as the time I realized movies can be bad, not "not good" but genuinely bad. And, yes, I saw it on the big screen.
I remember when Meatballs II played regularly on HBO. I have to admit, Pee Wee Herman was funny in that movie. He was a lot more devious than the kid-friendly Pee Wee's Playhouse and flipped off the bad guy in a humorous manner.
I KNEW I recognized that weird little alien! I just couldn't place it. Firestarter Rekindled, though. I remember SciFi channel giving this a good amount of hype back in the day, with the promos heavily focusing on the delightfully menacing monologues of Malcom McDowell. A far cry from the nostalgia bait sitcom he's doing now. But her powers activating when she gets horny, it makes me think of the protagonist of "The Girl Who Could Move Shit With Her Mind." She was part of a very small government unit made up of misfits that carried out small, off the books type operations. Her thing was that she was telekinetic, but she had a similar problem. Whenever she would try to fool around with her boyfriend, her powers would go haywire, putting everyone in the area in danger. I can't help but wonder if it was inspired by this, or just some independent invention.
The Bite! YES! I think about this film alarmingly often but I could never remember what it was called.
I always compared "Waxwork 2" to "Army of Darkness," and funnily enough, it has nothing to do with Bruce Campbell being in both. Back then, I thought any good horror sequel had to go full-on wacky adventure, or James Cameron huge!
That kid dropping F bombs is gold.
Oh man. That alien from Meatballs 2 had me in tears back in the day.
Meatballs 2 was on pretty much constantly on HBO back in the day. It's a fun, weird little movie and a nice time capsule.
I had no idea these sequels were even a thing.
Curse 2 was hilarious. I remember watching it because the cable TV description. Also the Clinger is in it! The Waxwork movies are a very fun double feature. :D
1:05 Nice!
There's an unintentionally hilarious chase scene in Food of the Gods 2 through a steam tunnel with a guy on a motorized cart and a giant rat.
I remember watching Meatballs 2 on HBO a lot. The alien was fine. This was my first exposure to the movie Zombie Lake.
Some of these I vaguely remember. I remember in the early 80's I would rent stuff "because it looked cool". Like Jason and the Argonauts that Meatballs 2 I swear I saw. A few of these I like but several others I haven't seen.
I must be the only person to appreciate Meatballs III. Then again, I've always been a fan of Patrick Dempsey and Sally Kellerman.
Hehehe, 1 minute in and you show my favorite Alamo Drafthouse Don't Talk PSA. :D
Love the fact that im getting a regular dose of your videos cecil.
Hurray! The comments and what not are working!
Not gonna lie...The Curse II: The Bite actually sounds AWESOME. "He turns into snakes, his arm turns into a snake, he pukes snakes"? This actually sounds gross in a good way. Also, notice that the alien is nowhere to be found on the poster to Meatballs II.
Some of the best kind of comedies are those that are the unintentional comedy.
I need to watch all of these this weekend...my God, my calendar is full!
I finally know where that clip of the giant kid is! Oh glorious day! Also, Curse II looks genuinely awesome.
Waxwork II rules! Meatballs 2? Not so much; I can't think of a sequel I hate more.
Ah man these are good as always you have the best voice and delivery of information.
Thank you!
i'm not ashamed to admit that I saw Meatballs 2 on Comedy Central as a boy before ever seeing the original
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THE SOURCE OF THE GIANT KID CLIP FOR YEARS
THANK YOU
I'm here to help :)
Out of everything here I remember the box art of the vhs for Curse 4 the most.
Definitely looking forward to some of these. Seen two of them on Comet. Absolutely hated Wax Work 2. But that end credit scene meant maybe they all had fun making it 😂
nice line up Cecil...!!...lots of these bring back memories!
Thanks to Meatballs 2 I discovered the Punk legends FEAR performing the classic " Beef Baloney "
You found my weakness. When I see the Meatballs 2 alien in a thumbnail, I click on it.
I've heard that 'Wax Work 2' has actually gained something of a cult-following almost as big as 'Evil Dead 2'! And it's one of very few 80s film-credits for Zach Galligan. And I remember 'Firestarter: Rekindled'; you might find it interesting to know that Stephen Kings BOOKS actually DO expand quite a bit on Charlie's story, and the government department "The Shop" actually makes a few return appearances in other books. =)
Which books?
I was talking more about the movie, as far as it just sticking to the basics of "bad guys doing bad thing".
I see. I just thought that was worth noting. Thanks for reminding me about that show though! =)
@@brianalice It's actually kind of sprinkled throughout most of his books and short-stories. It's all part of the "Dark Tower" mythos, and you can find some pretty handy guides for it online. I used Wikipedia. ; )
I have definitely watched that clip from the first movie. I've never known where it came from until now
🎵Lost in time like a bug in a jar, no matter where you go, There you are🎶 I have watched the sequel more than the original because it was in constant rotation on cable with The Gate 2 lol
Another great episode Cecil! Thank you!
I loved Meatballs 2 as a kid. It was on Saturday afternoon movies a lot. I remember being very confused when I finally saw the first Meatballs because no aliens 😂
Waxworks 2 was my favorite movie, back when I was a kid.
Great use of Kreator.
You had me at the Meathead thumbnail.
