Custis Lee ask for admission that the property had been taken and that he would convey Arlington to the U.S. government in exchange for a settlement. Long story short. Mr. Lee won and he had every right to demand that the U.S. government removed All the graves. However, he settled for a monetary payout. Lee signed the papers on April 24, 1883. Page 93 of book. So yeah. Mrs. Lee had tried to pay the taxes but the government refused. Then the government says they had bought the property. But the courts ruled in favor of the Lees. An Awesome book!

On Hallowed Ground sounds really interesting. I added it to my goodreads tbr. I'll have to keep my eye open for it. I recently read a book about the union gov stealing the property from Robert E. Lee. The property was his wife's property, willed to her from her father, George Washington Parke Custis. Did the book include that information? Of all of the history I've read, the fact the property was stolen during the civil war had never been included. Their son tried to get the house back, but his request "was lost." Jae: yeah, that Irish book was way back in February. I had fun with my channel then. It was all new and exciting! Bella doesn't take the heat very well so I have to keep her in a room with a window unit a/c. I let her outside early in the morning and late evening. She's sluggish because of the Benadryl.

It's not as fun as when it was all new and I did videos in front of the camera. I stopped doing videos in front of the camera because it was such a chore setting up everything. And I deleted so many videos that I feel like it all has changed? I can't explain it. Bella is itching to go outside..bad pun. But it's just too hot.

Oh Hornet Flight would be a great book for my mother. She likes to read all kinds of books about WWII. Especially when it's about the Netherlands.
