You guys make me smile. And bring back all the memories of such an awesome time for kids.
I am one of a few girls in the group of kids either I or me and my brother played with. I was definitely a tomboy.... I would rather crawl under a greasy dirty car than play with dolls....
We played as or pretended to be GI Joe, Silver Hawks, Ring Raiders, He-man, Voltron, Transformers ,and more....kids had imaginations... And better cartoons than the garbage that was left for my son and children in the past 16 years. There were a few decent ones.....not enough....With the help of renting, buying, and Netflix, we got to introduce some of our favorites to him....he loved GiJoe, Transformers, Robotech, Bat Man, Spiderman, Incredible Hulk, .He-man, Power Rangers.....watching him happy and play acting was so worth it.....
He feels now that he is 16 that he is too old for them....urgh! He likes Animé, though. And often watches cartoons with me. His dad even watches with me....he makes our son sit and watch animated movies with us....his laughter during Secret Life of Pets and others is golden....
I remember racing home from school to watch Voltron, Tranzor Z , Robotech at my dads house....one rule, homework is done first....many times my brother would try to get me to skip homework..... Nah....we often were home alone....I was the good one....
My dad sat down next to me and watched with me often....the first time, he turned to me and asked if this is what I had been so excited about.....I said yes...he looked at the TV then me and shook his head. Even my step mother said as long as I was there in front of the TV I wasn't out getting in to trouble....my brother did not watch as much as I did and was usually no where to be found.....
When living with my mom , I did the same.....Transformers, GiJoe, Bionic Six, Silver Hawks, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, He-man, Thunder Cats, She -ra, Care bears, Rainbow Brite.....so many more....
Every parent I talked to in the past 16 years agrees that the cartoons were much better and had important life context....unlike most of the garbage today....Johnny Test, to name one....funny, I just remembered Johnny Quest! Most of the reboots and remakes are pretty good.
Saturday mornings were still okay til ESPN kept ruining it for my son and then Me....by showing football instead of Power Rangers.....they couldn't wait an hour? What adult is going to be up at 11 am on a Saturday who was not either a parent or at work?
My son....I do believe dislikes football and the sports channels in part because of it.....I wished they could have seen the disappointment and Devastation it caused!!
I am still bitter about that....

God. This band is a lot of things. All the over the top stuff I love about metal, but also mixed with an incredible stupid concept that is so fucking endearing. It's so silly, their music is great too. I dunno man. This feels like a fever dream that I don't want to wake up from.
