Kevin Williamson- the guy who created and wrote the scream /ghostface movies, co-wrote the first 2.5 seasons of the vampire diaries , that’s why the earlier seasons are more horror centric.
And the 90s tv show Dawson’s creek, is about his life as a teen. A kid in a small town who dreams of one day going to Hollywood to create teen horror. So scream and the vampire diaries is the dream he achieved.

Facts fr 😭😭 like I kept getting frustrated when characters like Caroline or Bonnie said smt like yeah we would save you but it seems like we always suffer or loose someone important to us when it comes to saving you as if our girlie isn't an orphan that already feels guilty for surviving and lost basically everyone?? 😭😭 and still homegirl wouldn't even hesitate to sacrifice herself to save everyone (literally the whole Klaus arc???)
my fave thing about the salvatore brothers, books or tv show, is how much they always were at each others neck venomously acting like they hated each other and damon always trying to make stefan’s life miserable, and yet anyone else tries to kill one of them and you see how much they love each other deeply. like no he’s MY brother, EYE am the one who gets to torture him NOT YOU
i shipped jeremy and anna too :( even in s3 but i also HATE the writers for introducing that plot for him to CHEAT on bonnie for a ghost. also when what’s his face called bonnie desperate i wanted to slap the shit out of him. the writers tried so hard to keep bonnie’s attraction level sidelined throughout the season which is CRAZY bc kat graham is SO beautiful and had literally ever man in the cast asking the writers to write them a love plot between their characters and bonnie but alas the writers wanted to push an agenda where bonnie’s not that desirable to men on this show unless it’s for a spell to save their lives.

Egh, I haven't watched season 1 in years, and in my mind I had a good memory of Damon. Looking back at this season, I can't even bear the scenes with him. Everything he did to Bonnie, Elena, Jeremy, his own brother, not to even begin Caroline. The story with her is let alone unforgivable. Viki too. Just blah
mood. I mean granted tvd s1-3 is my fav show and I’ve rewatched a million times but I mean as I’ve gotten older and rewatched my tolerance of Damon’s writing goes down every time. I mean he r*pes Caroline, tries to compel elena to kiss him within the first few episodes, their first kiss in s2 is technically him assaulting her in her room then killing jer when she rejects him… keep in mind he hooks up with Matt and Vicky’s mom and flirts with Tyler’s mom and hangs with the grownups because he’s mid 20/ but hooking up with the teen girls? JP and co just didn’t give a crap once KW left the show, there was no accountability or weight to actions or questioning of things like consent 😩

season one of tvd was soooo good in so many ways, they played into so many horror tropes it kinda is scary? for the longest time i hated the horror genre and gore and when i brought up an interest in hannibal some years ago saying it’s not my usual cup of tea my uncle was like “but isn’t it?” 😭 also i stayed with a family friend once, my family’s super religious and so are their friends, and my nanny told me i couldn’t watch teen wolf or tvd (mind you when TW s3b was airing and i think s4 of tvd) bc she said they were “demon shows” LMFAOO

I mean is it chemistry or does Ian just have really pretty blue eyes and they have *tension*. because nian had chemistry in interviews but any time ppl bring up delena chemistry I’m like… they’re really close and holding eye contact but tension vs chemistry aren’t the same and I feel like the delena chemistry is so overrated. that said I completely agree lol, and the way it tanked into pure awkwardness is hilarious.
@@elizabethjulia20 fair point!!! i do often wonder if i only enjoyed them in the first four seasons bc of the tension. cuz once s5 started and they were fully a couple i started to get the ick and by s6 i was sooo over them as a couple. ppl say stelena was boring but i think it’s just bc their relationship wasn’t driven by the constant tension you bring up and they didn’t always have to have some steamy make out session or huge argument to see how much they loved each other.

I was always a full on stelena shipper, but I do love ships like klaroline and the forwood/klaroline triangle for the tension and chemistry and banter etc. the issue with delena is they were all potential and couldn’t follow through with substance. and I get it because their dynamic is so primed for chemistry, the constant tension and how “sexy” they are is played up. but the very fact that once they’re together and there’s no tension between them the chemistry is gone kind of shows how much of it was fabricated by dynamic. I personally think stelena are better in hindsight or upon rewatch, because dobsley have insane chemistry which is proven through portraying three separate ships that work within the show lol. it’s just not the same type of tension delena have, and they do have angst but it’s nuanced and not as showy and as it’s happening it’s all we’ve seen so it’s like they’re obvious and “boring”… when there’s *the potential of delena*, and it’s not until we see delena happen that it’s like… oh ok so the writers don’t know what to do with this. 😅 you always want what you don’t have and can’t compare until it happens. but even without comparison I think delena are overhyped and if just watching a scene for their body language (physical touch, eye contact expressions, connection etc) it’s not really there imo. then again I’ve grown to despise damon in recent rewatches so I’m biased LOL.

coach tanner was such an ass man. he was definitely crossing the line with jenna. and like you said, she was dealing with soo much and i don’t recall knowing her age either. i’d imagine she’s in her late twenties at least, maybe early thirties. but we watch the kids grieve their loss without ever seeing how SHE was affected by her grief over her sister while also dealing with taking care of two teens. i loved her so much man 😢

Loll. tbh in retrospect and rewatching I’ve realised that while I side eye elena s4-5 (6 I can’t even talk about) it’s not really elena I hate, the sirebond informs everything, the writers just didn’t want to actually deal with the fallout or the consent aspect so that gets washed away… but how can she even pick damon in the s4 finale and s5 when it’s entirely informed by what she felt during the sirebond? when all of her actions serve damon? yes she becomes a completely different and annoying character but that’s because she’s legit ooc.
@@elizabethjulia20 yeeepp and i rlly hate how delena shippers (including the writers themselves) try to invalidate the stelena connection with that stupid silas/amara soulmates plot yet they don’t ever wanna address the sire bond shit. and i think sire bonds aren’t an issue on their own, even in the books elena briefly was obedient to damon bc she was turned by his blood, but it wasn’t rlly romanticized in the book if i recall correctly and thankfully it didn’t last very long. when elena returned to her senses she was nothing but apologetic to stefan and slightly disgusted by herself.
@@angiebangie6372 I just find it funny because it’s so nonsensical because the lore is so completely not thought out by the writers that it legit doesn’t make any sense? my fav tumblr account has a section of posts devoted to the issues with the sirebond doppelgänger traveller lore and I love rereading them because it reminds me of how the more you think about it the less sense it makes? And in all seriousness my issue with it is how elena and caroline and other female characters become collateral in service of Damon’s “development”, the ways the writers mishandle consent and disregard elena’s autonomy and sacrifice her character(who I do love when she’s elena) in service of damon.
In the books the vampires could shapeshift so im pretty sure in season 1 they were alluding to Damon being the crow. Stefan and Damon were also born in the renesants era in Italy. Despite how messy the show was it's still WAAYYYY better than the books trust me on that.

OKAY SO ABOUT DAMON + CROWS
i personally read like all TVD books (and regret reading the final parts that were ghost written and i’m p sure the inspo for the god awful whitmore college plot in s5) but BASICALLY in the books damon is wayyyy more powerful. like to the extent that he would TRANSFORM into a crow and often creep on his prey or whatever pretty girl he wanted to watch and then feed on/seduce. i think in the pilot episodes the writers weren’t sure about whether or not they wanted to incorporate it fully into the world (vampire shape shifting that is) but they must’ve decided to throw the whole concept away after the first few episodes.
also i’m trying not to judge you for shipping elena with damon but BONNIE AND DAMON ARE LITERALLY RIGHT THERE 😭 if julie plague and the other white woman whose name i forgot didn’t fucking hate black ppl/kat graham we could’ve gotten them as a canon couple bc they’re literally a thing in the books. they’ve kissed numerous times and they’re implied to be soulmates bound by their souls AND LJ smith writes a story about damon meeting bonnie while out late at night and then erasing her memory after they share a tender moment together… julie took that and gave it to fucking delena man 😭 i hate it here
just to continue my rant a bit tho about book canon vs. tv canon (not that you care i’m sorry but it’s free engagement analytics) i love that kat graham gave us the bonnie that she did but i also find it veeerrryy telling that after they decided to cast her as a black woman they dramatically shifted bonnie’s characterization. in the books she’s very delicate and fragile, which EVERYONE KNOWS. literally EVERY MEMBER of the gang, elena, the salvatore’s, matt (and meredith who they replaced with caroline) are SO protective of her and her gentleness i think is the real reason damon has such a blind spot for her from the start of the series. but ugh once again JP does not view black women as ppl who deserve protection, she sees us martyrs and protectors of everyone else (esp other white ppl). with that being said, the bonnie birthed from the tv show script and kat’s phenomenal portrayal still had such good chemistry with damon and i wish they could’ve fully explored it instead of having bonnie stuck to jeremy’s ass half the show or damon staying loyal to a comatose elena like they should’ve just killed her off and let bonnie be the new protagonist fully bc that also happens in the book.

Honestly, Damon's humanity in season 1 is up for debate.
We know he turned it off in the 50s but we don't know when it came back on, in season 2 Damon says that he has his humanity off(unsure on if he's joking) and then in season 3 the possibility of it being more like a "dimmer switch" comes up.
Personally, I don't think Damon's humanity was fully back in s1.
this is funny to me because it’s technically retcon. logically sure his humanity is debatable in s1, but him turning it off in the 50s and dimmer switch stuff comes later. in s1 before all of that lore he’s meant to come across as secretly human inside despite covering it up. he’s literally back in mystic falls because of how much he loves katherine, he feels resentment towards stefan because katherine chose him, he gets angry etc. even when he explains the humanity switch to alaric the irony is supposed to be that damon says his switch is off and that’s why he’s “so much fun” but it’s bravado as we see the way he’s secretly more emotional and redeemable than he lets on. it’s an interesting question to bring up in theory, but objectively in terms of the writing he was written to have his humanity on in s1.

Damon's humanity is 'debatable' because of information we where given later on, even though that might not have been the original intention.

@@DivaQuinzel well not quite because it’s never written back into s1 canon. the dimmer switch only applies to canon from there on out in the writing (it’s also only a term damon really uses to try and describe stefan in late s3). that’s not retconning previous canon or how the characters see it. us debating damon’s humanity because we know the dimmer switch concept is *us* doing that outside of the show. retconning history is like inserting the fact that damon was mistreated by their father as a child, or stefan’s first love being valerie, or damon not serving in the war with stefan because of lexi - things that weren’t canon but change canon, because we then go back and watch s1 knowing damon didn’t actually hate stefan from 1864-2009, which was what the writers originally wrote.
