There's a much easier way to do this in order to avoid image degradation. Simply take whatever image you have or create using the native/highest quality possible (just needs to be square). No need to measure within your image software, just save as an individual file. Then, drag and drop into MS Word, double click on the image and set to 1.10". I did this yesterday with several images, and created an entire sheet of different gobo's and they all turned out great!
Do you have a video or an example?
Made my own gobo for the follow spot 75 st with an inkjet transparency. Within 2 seconds of turning it on it burned up the gobo. However it is super bright and I am sure it will shoot metal and glass gobos like a champ.
Best tool I've found to work the retaining ring in and out is a heavy, rubber-tipped tweezers, usually found at beauty supply places or an outlet like Markertek. The ring is more robust than it appears so it can be handled without any fear of breaking. Also remember to keep your other hand over top when putting it in or out. It's as springy as a slinky and can bounce away pretty far making it nearly impossible to find!
@stewardsproductions - Glad you like it! We'll forward your suggestion to our videographer. Thanks!
@DJMaxSmart86 - WHOA - that's awesome! Glad you're enjoying your new fixture!
@DJMaxSmart86 - thanks for the suggestions! We used Photoshop, but any art-based program would work.
That is sooooo cool- Im totally gonna buy!
I have just begun to make my own gobo's but I am finding that the transparency paper that I bought to print on, made for color from ink jet, has flaws that can be seen on the projection. Any particular transparency suggested?
We use Adobe Photoshop which works on both MAC and PC. You can use any art based software similar.
hey i didn't know that it could rotate cool and hey chauvet i think that this feature would be a huge thing in the led moving head market hope to see it there soon
awesome DIY! Would this also work for the Chauvet Qspot - 260's???
Great product! Using a photo shop like program but still can't figure out how to get the right settings so it will print small enough to fit.
@chauvetlighting Thanks for the tip, I went ahead and did it! Really easy! Just another question, what kind of transparency paper are you using, the one I bought seems to smudge easy... Even after drying for hours the ink can be smeared off...
Thanks....
@chauvetlighting ok but it is vital to the make your own transparency because you can c the bent part on the gobo.
Will this work on the go bow then LED to 70 W? The newer one? I feel like it gets very hot and will melt it
What software were you using to make the gobo though? Does it come with it or do you have to buy it seperate..? And can it hold a glass gobo? Thanks!
Thanks. So will this work with Adobe Photoshop elements 14? What is the viewing area?
will this process the Dual Purpose Transparency film work the same for a Chavuvet DJ EZ GOBO
I think a great gobo effect would be duplicating/updating the old shooting star effect from the 1980s....where one gobo with many random dots/holes on solid/black background turns behind a gobo with random dots/holes on solid/black background that stands still...thus when one moving hole passes a still hole the light shoots through..add a strobing effect on a still or moving head fixture would be pretty impressive...we're talking 25+ random beams shooting individually using only one light source and one rotating gobo space.....of couse I guess the trick is to have top gobo fixed as the one beneath turns..
Does this work for projecting onto buildings? What is its range?
I've been ordering gobo's and feel more comfortable with a pro creating it....can steel & other gobos fit it or do you have to use the printer??
Cool.. product wish you guys would had came out with earlier i have the 10w led is ok but i rather have a 22w or why not a 60 or 100w led...but 700 is beyon my buget...
Steel or glass of the proper size are just fine!
VERY NICE I LIKE IT THUMBS UP !
Can you do a video on a gobo with white letters and black background ?
Looking at the Followspot 75 ST and it linked to this video, does that mean i can make my own for the Followspot as well?
I think to print the gobo, you need to use color gel material like sheets of polycarbonate. Color gels are availbale at DJ lighting stores or arts & crafts shops.
Also didnt see a focus for different distances.
@StarryKnights1-Thanks for helping!
@joshgilson - Thanks for your feedback!
Does anyone have a gobo template in photoshop for the Gobo Zoom?
@StarryKnights1 Thanks for your help!
Hi :). Do you need a laserjet printer for the gobos? :)
hi, i have the adobe suite... in-design, photo shop, etc. Can someone please tell me where I can get exact directions on the design aspect of this? I set the width and height to 28mm and its square... trying to figure out how to get it round, etc.. Chauvet doesn't supply a template? Also, I am using the LFS-5.. not the zoom. Is is still the same size for that unit?
thanks in advance for the help.
how would you do this using the Qspot 260??? Do I have to get an empty gobo holder?
would you be able to use it on the q spot 260?
@chauvetlighting I do have an Inkjet printer, is there any way to do this on an InkJet without smudging?
@TheCrazytommy - yes you can!
Does this same process work with your 75ST follow spot?
quick question my ring 1:08 doesnt look like that it is bent at the end. did you just cut them off or did i get ripped off?
@chauvetlighting can you get transperencies for laser jet?
@dvorster2010 - A laser printer is what seems to work best. Thanks!
What size would I order the steel custom gobo to fit in this machine.
Do you have to use Photo Shop to create? Could you just use MS Word?
What program we use to make a personal bogo
What software you use to make your gobo template
thanks
What is the name of the sheets u print in?
@suethedj - Any art-based program will work.
thumbprints included?
@lildapp76 - Photoshop. Any art-based program will work!

I've tried making a gobo in photoshop and I just can't figure it out.. Can you please tell me a step by step process or at least how to make the template and add the image? Please and thank you :)
Very nice!!!
What kind of paper do you use to print? What is it called?
Dana Yerzhanova We recommend dual purpose transparency film that will works in both laser jet and copy machines. These types handle higher temperatures.
Can i used like bakin paper
@chauvetlighting

I HAVE A MAC CAN U PLS HELP ME WHICH PROGRAM DO I USE ON MAC LAPTOP TO DESIGN MY CUSTOM GOBO PLS
Does this also apply to the 2.0 version as well?
Yes
@StarPremierEntertain Hello, we took a ring from our stock to look at, and it does have a bent end. The bent end isn’t vital to operation, but makes getting it out to swap gobos easier. Please e-mail our customer service department at tech [at] chauvetlighting [dot] com with a picture and explain the situation. They will definitely take care of you!
@deejayollie Can you post or email to me exact instructions on how to do this in PHE?
Heyy. How do you get the white shadow circle out?
you just black out the logo on the computer. so when its printed the black ink wont let light shine through in the areas you don't want it to. Late reply but I hope it helped. lol
ok everyone that i talk to says they wont have it until later.???? does anyone carry it yet!?
nice, but in my past experience with another led gobo projector from another big manufacturer that has American in the name has been unsuccsesful. The light comes through cracks in teh gobo created by the ink. Is this projector different? Are you using a color laser or ink jet. HELP!!!! I would buy it, but i want to know these things first.
What program did you use to make the custom GOBO?
+The Asian Gamer We use Adobe Photoshop.
@chauvetlighting I have an inkjet printer Brother MFC 495...
Will this work for the Chauvet DJ EZ zoom as well?
+Charles Crawford If you're referring to the EZGobo www.chauvetlighting.com/ez-gobo.html then yes, but you will have to make sure you set your template and cut to the proper size stated in the manual for that fixture.

Awesome thank you!!!
hi, great video... I have a question...I have a 32w gobo projector, the thing is that I try to do the gobo and it work for a few seconds, then the film starts burning.... so the question is, There are different types of film, heat resistant or something that make my film different from others???
need to be led
it is a led gobo proyector it's the ikon profile adj.. 32W (7500K) white LED. (www.adj.com/ikon-profile)
32w ,maybe you need a ticker film
Same problem even with an LED theres a complete video of a guy, I forgot who... but he explained how LED doesnt mean NO HEAT but means Less heat.... he used a watch lens crystal befor installing the gobo on the light... if you get the proper size Watch crystal itll block some heat off of your gobo.
Are you using "dual purpose transparency film", as recommended above by Chauvet DJ?
@chauvetlighting
"@skiing54 Use a color laser jet for the best results. (Ink jets wont cut the cheese.) ;)"
Just wondering why laser would be better for this because most if my research tells me that inkjet is best for color photo printing? Would you be able to elaborate a little more?
Im actually thinking about buying a laserjet strictly for this purpose... Ive been using my inkjet printer and its not as clear and the tranparency film that is compatible w/ my model printer has that bumpy bla
How?
what size is the gobo in mmm when I try to order online is asking mm?
Hi, no problem -- it's 25mm outside by 19mm image
Can I print my own gobos on a printer for the Ez Gobo as well?

thanks

sharstar6b We recommend dual purpose transparency film that will works in both laser jet and copy machines. These types handle higher temperatures.
@@CHAUVETDJ - where can I find it? Any alternatives to it?
I just purchase a ezgobo and i havent found a a video that does gobos for ez gobos plus does anyone knows what program to use on a macbook pro besides photoshop since that software is to heavy
How do I get the gobo monogram to appear gold when projected?
Hi Francine. You'll need to use a full-color glass or transparency printed gobo -- depending on which type of gobo your unit can handle.
@@CHAUVETDJ thank you

i know Im randomly asking but does someone know of a method to log back into an instagram account?
I somehow lost the login password. I would love any help you can offer me
@Maxton Augustine Instablaster :)
@Tyler Salvador thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Tyler Salvador it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my ass !
@Maxton Augustine Glad I could help :)
What software did you use?
Photoshop
How do I do this for the intimidator 355z irc
For any fixture with interchangeable gobos, you can follow this same process and cut the gobo to proper size. Gobo sizes can be found on the product pages for the fixtures you're working with. As far as the Intimidator 355z IRC, we DO NOT recommend using a transparency because the printer ink will run from the heat of the LED. Instead, we recommend ordering steal gobos.
CHAUVET DJ any chance of some Chauvet merch?? Like to shirts...
ما هو سعر هذه أجهزة العرض؟
@Eurolitee, nope
thats fucking awesome!!!!!
This video features Photoshop but any art-based software will work
Bought mine excited to produce my own designs....HOWEVER, be warned that the projected image quality is marginal at best. And the projector must be turned WAY down or the transparency film just melts instantly! I have found that I can't turn it up anymore than about 130 if I want the print to survive.
The unit is very bright when turned up to full and looks great with glass or metal gobos.....
enjoy the gobo, for how long? 20 seconds? LOL
@deejayollie if you get a response let me know
this Chauvet gobo is very dim
