I've never seen Nick Wright so gracious speaking about Tom Brady. Not the Nick we're used to. Today he was excellent.

He did a segment 2 years ago where he declared Brady the GOAT, and showed how Brady's career broken into 3 parts matches up with 3 HOF QB's. Aikman, Marino, and Montana.
He usually has given Brady respect, it’s Josh Allen he doesn’t seem to like lol
He admitted total defeat after Brady won the SB in Tampa. He’s never gone after him like before ever since.

This is why this show is the best. All three can be caricature of themselves on TV, but when it really matters, like in this segment, they are head and shoulders above anything else, sports wise on tv or radio

I think a real point of Brady's goat status is: the superbowl era is 50 something years long, so more than double his incredible career.
In that era, he has more ring than every franchise, and more playoff wins that 28 teams.
3 hall of fame careers in one life in a sport where most greats can't last a full decade at the highest level, he did it for 21 years in a row
Let's not forget about the advantage BB's film study afforded him. Sure he won in Tampa, man is the greatest football player ever, but then again, Lance Armstrong was the greatest bike rider ever. Is the greatest bike rider ever....*
I remember only a few years back you would see alot more people in comment sections question Brady's greatness and calling him a cheater.
Now today, nobody questions Brady's greatness. He left the game without any doubt as to who was the greatest football player ever seen in the game.

I have NEVER been a Nick Wright fan... until today. Some of the most thoughtful and detailed and unarguable points ive heard in quite some time.
I don't agree with him much, but the dude is funny/entertaining and informed. This is the best show IMO.

I’ll always remember the first Super Bowl. When the patriots got the ball and madden was saying “ idk what they’re doing. They should just play for overtime “ and he proceeded to slice and dice his way down the field. Getting into position for Adam to make the game winning kick. All of the other moments he provided my team and the rest of the league were amazing. But the start of the comeback KING, will always be one of the first things I think of. Because after that gutsy win. He, Bill and the patriots were constantly being talked about and in big prime time games!

that was it, that was the GOAT moment, and as Brady's #1 Hater, at that moment that day, i had to stop. It was clear as day what had just happened, ascension.
Brady really has 3 HoF careers in one lifetime. Insane. Besides being the GOAT he is also unquestionably the most clutch player ever.

His first 7 years was his Troy Aikman era when he won 3 SBs, his next 7 years was his Dan Marino era, not having an SBs but had multiple MVP seasons and the big 50 td season, than his next 7 years was his Joe Montana era winning 4 SBs. Than his final 2 years were just insane statistically.

In Brady's 23 year career he played as starters for 21 seasons, minus his rookie season and 2008 injured season. You can divide his career into three 7-season durations: 2001-2007, 2009-2015, 2016-2022. Kurt Warner is in the Hall of Fame based on 5 or 6 excellent seasons with 3 Super Bowl appearances and one ring then Brady can have THREE hall of fame careers!
2001-2007: 4 SB appearances, 3 rings, 1 MVP. His early developmental years and a record breaking 2007 season.
2009-2015: 3 SB appearances, 1 ring, 1 MVP. His physical prime and stats accumulating years.
2016-2022: 4 SB appearances, 3 rings, 1 MVP. His sublime autumnal years that defies father time.
I don't even need to talk about rings. My metric is pretty simple: the QB with the most playoff wins is the best. To me, every playoff win is the Super Bowl because it's a single game elimination process and you can't get to the Super Bowl without the previous wins. Aaron Rodgers once said legacy is built in the postseason as playing well in the regular season is just to earn your paycheck. Great stats in the regular seasons are there to prove you're majorly responsible for postseason appearances but what good is it if you get bounced in the first round. Peyton Manning was great but he had one and done NINE times in the postseasons. Brady played 48 playoff games and that's equivalent of THREE full regular seasons on top of his 21 active seasons! With 35 wins at the top and the guy next to him, Montana, has 16. Brady has more than double over him. On that note, Brady as a Patriot played and won more games and championship than Joe Montana and Steve Young as 49ers combined and that's two hall of fame careers right there. The ones after Montana's record are the usual suspects like Peyton, Elway, Bradshaw, Favre, etc.....
Let's sum it up: the man has the rings and stats on top of leadership, longevity, and competitiveness to be on the Mount Rushmore of the sport. Magnificent career!

The one record that will NEVER be broken is TWO HUNDRED AND EIGTY SIX WINS. 251 REGULAR SEASON. 35 POSTSEASON= 286 WOW
Only way for Mahomes to surpass is by winning 8 rings. No other way.

As an 1990 kid, I started following the Patriots at the age of 12 in 2002. Tom Brady has played the entire time and he’s been amazing. Us 1990 Patriots fans are lucky 😂
I am an 80s kid, started watching the Patriots in the early 90s. I knew what it was to watch a terrible team. Brady hoisted his first Lombardi when I was a sophomore in high school. He announced his retirement today and I have children (plural) that have graduated high school. We are lucky that we witnessed greatness on that level for so long. BB is a great coach, but it is obvious how important having a qb is to being successful. Bradys last year in NE he took that horrible team to a 12-4 record and the playoffs. We have seen nothing close to that since his departure even spending a record ammount of money in free agency.
My first football video game was in 98 with the two teams being the Packers and the Patriots. Have been a fan since then and it was incredibly good timing as fan.

I still can't believe what Brady did to +21 point favorite Alabama in his last college game game ever *2000 Orange Bowl* He lighted up Alabama's defense for 450 yards and 4 TD's passing and twice came back in the 2nd half down 14 points.. Mr Clutch OT win

Never thought of it this way. But the fact that brady was the 199th pick. And not expected to do anything other than warm the bench for some 1st rounders should weigh heavily on the conversation comparing brady to mahomes. Mahomes being a 1st round pick. He was supposed to be great. Maybe not as great as he started. But expectations should I believe have some bearing on this. The fact that brady turned into what he is by shear determination and hard work when nobody expected him to be great adds just an extra layer of protection in his legacy imo.
Brady is the equivalent of Bill Russel with Jordan's will to win. He is amongst the greatest athletes of all time.
I respect Nick a lot more for speaking about Brady in the way he did. It felt genuine. Dude is the greatest to ever do it.
I’m old enough to have seen so many quarterbacks play, but Tom Brady did the unexplainable. 45 years old is not end of life years. He has a lot more years of life to live and produce more greatness. Press on Tom.

I never thought Nick Wright had it in him - to be nice about Tom Brady, and actually talk about him at a pretty good length. An amazing player no matter how you measure it. Mahomes is the reigning QB of today and it is going to be interesting to see how many he is able to win.
The synopsis of this segment was that Tom Brady gave everything to football. And you could see all 3 coming to grips with just how much Tom gave up to cement his legacy as the greatest to ever play.
This was a genuinely touching and really thoughtful take from all three presenters ❤

Tom is a class act. I'm sad on one hand. You don't want to see the end of a dynasty but we know it's going to come. Phenomenal athlete over an extended period of time. No football player may match his accomplishments.
THANK YOU BROU! Yes, Brady was never a game manager, he led the league in TDs his second season as a starter and he carried them to that second super bowl win. Where they allowed 28 points to Jake Delhomme, he had a record breaking game.
The fact that people don’t seem to understand because of this revisionist history narrative that all he had is will, is that in his prime he was as good as anyone at their best. Manning, Rodgers, Mahomes, Marino, he put up video game numbers the time he had a legit wide out.
Now he had tremendous talent on occasion, certainly in tampa, but he also broke Super Bowl records throwing to Chris Hogan, James White and Danny Amendola. If he’d had Gronk or Moss his entire career he’d have had a 60TD season.
Difference between Brady and Bill Russell is Brady had ridiculous production. If you average Brady’s career he averages more TDs and yards per season than Rodgers. Russell was a great winner but wilt was the stat machine. Brady is both. He is where Wilt meets Russell.
I remember when nick was on first things first with Chris Carter and it’s so great to see how well his takes have evolved. He used to be a brady hater but now he gives such a respectful and better take than wildes, the Brady fanboy

The position of QB can never be understated again. Tom came to a young team and took us to a SUPER and quite possibly gave Patrick Mahones his only SB loss… the Bucs were good, but Tom made us better. Thanks

What makes Brady stand out is what Nick said about clutch play. Montana is the only guy that was about that clutch. From the age 41-45 he was still ranked #1 in effectiveness on last possession drives. Absolutely crazy. l think someone said he has more TDS than Bradshaw Elway and Stauback combined. Those guys have 7 or 8 Rings between them. The reason was until rule changes that made passing a better option in 2007 it was a run first league. Brady 6 years of the wide open passing game. Can you imagine the numbers he could have had.

The craziest thing about Brady? He's quitting at age 45 ... and he's STILL an elite QB who would be sought after by many playoff bound teams. there is nothing that can be said about his ability to play football that has not been said allready but what i find most amazing about Tom is that after playing with thosands of team mates, interacting with coaches,team staff, facility staff, media people etc.the only person that I know of that had anything negative to say about Tom was AB. I also have never heard him say anything negative about any player during a interview.

Some of it was the right situation, some of it was luck and a large potion was just a relentlessness no athlete has ever had or will ever match. He played to win. That was it. One goal. Win

Thank you Tom for being the greatest role model and player of all time. He just couldnt win long term without his biggest supporter - Gisele. He called her his "good witch" because of her emotional/spiritual intelligence. He was used to having his sisters and Mom be his biggest emotional supporters and this really broke him. He was so great not just because of all his work and his talent but because he was THE MOST EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT... and HUMAN, which is why he could LEAD like no other famous player. Gisele helped keep him level as he got more famous and hot headed and when he got down. It's so hard to lose your partner. (Not to mention the Bucs had no O line and lousy coaching this year)

I almost never agree with Wildes, but when he said that the Patriots were really America's Team, I wholeheartedly agree.
Next year will feel just a little 'off'. There are thousands of football fans who've never seen an NFL season where Brady in the league.
What I think is a shame is that if he had retired last year like he said, he might still have a wife. She tried to get him to retire for years and then he finally does it. Then he reneges on that and plays again. I think that was the straw that broke that marriage's back. Or, maybe it had nothing to do with it. lol
I feel sad Tom Brady retired.

Real legit pats fan here. Billy B created teams that were amazing. How many players had great careers with the pats, left to get paid and never had the same type of progress. Brady always had top defenses. definitely the best to do it, but that’s because he had a perfect system. And what he did in tampa, they could have had a superbowl the year prior if winston threw 10 less interceptions.
The game manager title should have went out the window when he led the league in TD's the year after winning his first superbowl. He was still a game manager. Hence why he didn't win MVPs early. Those defenses were so good that I think at that point in his career he was replaceable. His middle career is when he really became what we know today. Those were his Mamba years. He's definitely the Goat in my opinion but I also think Belichick is also. Because in Tom's great career, he's had more top 5 and 10 ten defenses than all of his peers. Still the Goat but BB deserves alot of credit.
@@nsmith3128 He had great defenses because BB is a defensive coach who focused on the defense. Brady was leading top ten scoring offenses during his early years with much less talent than Manning had. That is why Manning was winning more MVPs during those years. His team was talent heavy on offense where as the Pats were talent heavy on defense. Those Patriots defenses were very good, but they weren't the 2000 ravens or Legion of Boom. NE was able to win those SBs because Brady was almost always able to lead top ten scoring offenses no matter who he was given to work with. In 2006, he lead a top ten scoring offense with Reche Caldwell as the leading receiver and no 1000 yard rusher.
In all honesty, Tom Brady deserves his own room in the hall of fame. He is cut above ALL the rest, and I "HATE" Brady. He broke my heart soooooo many times, he beat my Raiders on a blown call. But I am glad I got to experience the Brady era, he is the GOAT.

It was coming back from suspension and there was little doubt he would be death staring the commissioner in February. The single most impressive run in football history in my opinion.
