    Super Smart ... Excellent >>>> Who else could have figured this out, but you. .....Great job .... just what I needed. Thanks Brendan!
    Remember me from NAMM? Very soon I will be putting thousands of songs/tunes all over the internet, BUT .... I need a harmonica made to my very own specs. If I can find someone to create this harmonica ....That harmonica will super change the whole world of music in every field of music ...bar none. You'll see. Still ... I know for sure "Easttop" harmonica is the very BEST harmonica ever made .... this is why I push the Easttop harmonica free at no cost to the Easttop harmonica Company. I still cherish the photo we made together at the NAMM show, and at the Easttop dinner along with the Easttop owner who invited us all to enjoy.
    Eli: "King of Rock & Roll Harmonica". I only play an "Easttop" harmonica because I am positive are the very best harmonica (and cheapest) in the world.

      @@herbster22 I really appreciate your warm words. It would be great to see a bit more innovation from the harmonica companies, but to do it right takes quite a lot of investment and risk, so they tend to play it safe. They've tried alternative models which haven't succeeded (Hohner XB40, Suzuki Overdrive and SUB30), so I guess they think the market doesn't want such harps. But I'd argue none of those three was an optimal example of its design concept, and could have succeeded with further development. Anyway, let's see for the future!

    This a great design and awesome to play around with alternate tunings. How easy is routine cleaning? I'm curious if the weak/strong adhesive on the comb is resistant to water. Typically, I use a sonic cleaner on all my current harps, which means they need to be metal/plastic or at least water resistant such as a composite or sealed wood comb.

    Amazing Brendan! You are the Edison and Tesla of the harp world! I was wondering about quick-changing between songs - do you think it would be possible to use magnets instead of screws to hold the cover plates?

    • @BrendanPowerMusic
      @BrendanPowerMusic  Před 2 lety +2

      Good question! That would be ideal, and I tested it. Unfortunately the magnetic force from the size of magnets one could use is not sufficient to give the same inward pressure on the modular reedplates as screws offer. That pressure is important to keep the covers in place behind the comb lips, and hold the mini reedplates firmly against the comb for good tone and response.

    • @GregoryPearsonMusic
      @GregoryPearsonMusic Před 2 lety +1

      @@BrendanPowerMusic I thought you probably had tested that already. I am excited to get one. To have access to all the different tunings, or adding notes that can be bent - this really opens up some revolutionary options without sacrificing the basic diatonic settings. * Will you also sell gaskets with valves? In that case it is probably a bit harder to create something modular. But I guess the valves are not that expensive to make. But is it glued on there completely?
    * Will there be bigger versions of the harp (e.g., up to 16 holes)? Is it based on that exact model by Kongsheng? Or will you create your own harps?
    It seems easier to mass produce parts with higher quality at a lower price.

    • @BrendanPowerMusic
      @BrendanPowerMusic  Před 2 lety +1

      I have made prototypes with Gasket-Valves but, as you suggest, they can't have the adhesive gasket. Individual valves are better in this harp.
      It's early days for this concept. Custom combs would enable more possibilities for sure For example, a comb with all long slots for making chord harps, and combs of different lengths... If the demand is there, they will come in time 👍

    Is it not possible to make a comb with all slots the exact same size, tuned entirely via differing reed weights etc. This would make this modular idea even more interesting. As mass comb production would be easier. All reeds also could then be the same heaviest size, then just need to be filed down hence tuned by the owner. You could also incorporate optional slide on plastic plates onto your individual reed plates that would shorten those fixed sized chambers.

    • @BrendanPowerMusic
      @BrendanPowerMusic  Před 9 měsíci

      It wouldn't be optimal for reed tone and performance to have all reeds the same size over a 3-4 octave range.

  • @huvamae
    @huvamae Před 2 lety +1

    With frequent substitutions won't the stickiness dissipate? Is it possible to design slide-in pockets to hold the reed in place and then the little fingers on the cover can mash them down tight to a gasket, only sticky on the plate side?

    • @BrendanPowerMusic
      @BrendanPowerMusic  Před 2 lety

      The amount of stickiness is not critical, it's simply there to stop the modular reeds falling about all over the place. I did try a gasket without outer stickiness, but the slightest wrong move and you have reeds everywhere.

Sir, this harp that you have help to advance, is it. I am of the belief that either you have been made blind by your desire to keep pushing the envelope, or someone, has lied to you to divert your attention from this most brilliant advancement to the Diatonic harmonica. It would be as if Nicola Tesla, attempting to make the alternating current better. It is not possible. Therefore kind sir with all due respect, you need to reintroduce this item. Better yet, you should promote this to every harp player in the world; and maybe start a school of music promoting your innovative design of the instrument. Man I'm just seeing this and I'm blown away by it. It seems to me that the ones involved must not truly want this to succeed for fear of having to share the fortune. How may I obtain one? If I had the money, I'd invest my life's savings. This harp is the holy grail of harps you have to believe me. I've already told you, if you died, every person that plays the diatonic harmonica would be out to have one.
