Question. I have a backyard patio. 20'x10" beams are 2" below the roof edge attached to the ledger on the wall. Patio ceiling was rotted out bad, got demo'd but left the main skeletal beams as a "pergola". Roof needs a drip edge, but what do I use to protect the 20'x10" beams coming off the wall under the roof? U-shaped galv. sheet metal to protect the wood

How has it worked for you so far? Any days hot enough yet to indicate success?
Not hot enough yet but should be soon. No leaks I know that much.

I feel like this is not sealed enough and those nails with tar on them will start leaking in 2 years or less.
