You can actually tell it the way how they feel disgusted when they recreate the Grandma's Meatloaf according to her instructions. The message of the film is that sometimes we have to fake or endure or hide something if it means not hurting someone. It's a win-win situation actually, they make the Grandma happy while at the same time they avoid themselves from eating a disgusting food.
