One of the most humble guys you'll ever meet...
He was in his last year of high-school when I was in my 1st year...
A few years later when he was well established in the All Blacks, I saw him at a local club rugby game.
I just waved at him thinking he wouldn't know who I was... but as soon as he saw me, to my surprise he recognized me from school. He left his mates and walked over and gave me a hug and asked how I was... we talked for about 45mins just laughing and joking about our school days...
I introduced him to my wife and he took a photo with my my wife and daughter.
After he left... My wife asked me...
"How do you know Maa Nonu?"
I told her we played rugby together in school👀😂
A couple of years later my wife was hosting a fundraiser for children's cancer...
I decided to push my luck and message Maa randomly to see if he could sign a Hurricanes jersey for us to auction off at the event...
He immediately replied and organized for me to pick up the jersey... and sure enough... he had signed it.
This video was about Maa Nonu the legend whilst on the field...
But I can tell you from experience that he's even MORE of a legend off the field.
A true testament to his character.

He has a high IQ on the field with the ability to open up offensively and shut down plays defensively.

The reason noone mentions Nonu is cause there were like 7 other legends in the All blacks when he was playing for them. Its common for the All blacks to be a stacked team even though we are a small country of 4 million. You know how Dr dre worked with Pac, eminem, 50, Ice cube, Eazy E, Snoop dog, kendrick etc well Richie Mccaw is like Dr Dre, he works with the best and hes the backbone and Nonus just another legend on his roster

I remember Nonu's debut for the Hurricanes when he was 19. Instant stand out player who we knew was going to be special from his first touch of the ball. He was playing 11, ran like a wrecking ball, couldn't really throw a pass and attracted a lot of Lomu comparisons. Also attracted haters who thought he could never live up to Jonah's name. He worked on his ball skills over the years and ended up maturing into one of the most skillful number 12's in the history of the sport. He went from being known as the All Blacks battering ram, to being the best set up player and passer in the back-line. Ma'a Nonu & Conrad Smith is the most legendary centre pairing of all time

Said he’s going to play until 40!!!!!!
Blokes a beast and if you ever think of player who is quick powerful and skilled at the same time it’s this guy.
He’s actually the only person I have seen bump off manu tuilagi,
That’s how powerful this guy is
Between him an lomu they changed how backs should play and look imo!!!!!!
Nonu’s only downfall is he loses his head from time to time and puts it mad shoulder charges.but that only in the eyes of the law, from a fans point of view we love nothing more that watching a 17 stone bloke absolutely dishing out pain illegally.....
The haka is kapo o pango
Check out piri weepu take it!!!!!
The “dude”he keeps passing to is Joshua tuisova......
In rugby play will go on if someone is down unless it’s a head injury in which they go off for a 10 minute assessment.
If a player passes this hia “head injury assessment” then he can return.
Most players tend to get back up and play on even if injured as they are real warriors.....!!!!!
