UPDATE: Game was broken at release and maybe still is. I did not experience the online servers when making this video which is why I didnt bring those up and why this is an early impressions video of Payday 3.
Would not recommend buying until the game gets better. We'll see what happenes in a year or two. So gonplay Payday 2

After buying Payday 3 and playing for 10 hours, I am left with this question: How much did they pay The Act Man for his review? Thats the only way I can explain it, because in my mind (seriously flawed as it is) this game just doesn't deserve the praise you heap on it.

It's a review that he made after playing the Beta Build of a game before it ever released, the problems with the actual release were likely not in the beta build.

Thats not the point tho. Act man didnt experience these issues, he was playing lan at a prerelease event and reviewed the game based on the gameplay and quality of the overall product. I didnt buy the game, i suppose id be pretty pissed if i did. But, pd2 had the same issues, and this game actually seems pretty exceptional. Theres clearly a lot of passion and yea its definitely hurt by poor management but so are many phenomenal games. Dark souls pc port is dogass and the console ports werent great either yet its still regarded as one of the best games of all time. Imo Its just how the world works, Gotta enjoy shit despite that. Starbreeze definitely fucked up here but it's not a fault with the game it's the servers themselves. The game itself is in a good state. It would be similar to if VALVe released CS2 and the servers completely shit themselves... it would still be a disappointment, but it's not the game's fault.

@@thing4826It’s not the devs fault because they seem like cool people. HOWEVER, it is definitely the fault of the higher ups (CEO’s) at Starbreeze/ Overkill. They have been told countless times by their community to release an offline mode but have been completely ignored. They obviously didn’t optimize enough servers by I’d assume to be greed. They LIED to their community and continue to stab them in the backs. The game is great but they deserve the steam reviews.

I will still wait to see how it turns out, the demo you played could have been a vertical slide, where everything just works as intended for that map. I do hope you end up being right with the game delivers. However I was not impressed by the public demo.

If you would've experienced Payday 2, you would not be calling this game a banger. This game is just a downgrade in almost every way gameplay wise. Give it a go sometime.
List of some of the things wrong with Payday 3:
-There is currently no chat in the lobby
-Once you have pressed ready, you are no longer allowed to make it unready, which means you are no longer allowed to change the build profile if you accidentally do so chose incorrectly.
-Can't rename loadouts, so make sure you memorize them.
-The outfits are not saved separately in the profile.
-There are no multi-day missions.
-You have to turn off the “mission videos” beforehand so that you have a better overview every time.
-You have to watch the intro every time, even if you just restart the mission, you can't skip it.
-RNG is hardly available, and its semi exploitable. Example: you find a code on a whiteboard for a switch. Well if you fail and restart, you just simply memorize the code and bypass doing the whole process again.
-You can no longer give orders to bots
-Completing heists are mostly unrewarding because now you level with random challenges, so you don't concentrate on the missions, but have to make sure you do your personal challenges.
-You now need to grind for weapon levels and Perks
-There are no more melee attacks in the game, you can only use them to stun cops or force civilians to the ground.
-Every loot item has the exact same bag model
-(my personal opinion) the music is no longer addicting like Payday 2
-mask customization got a downgrade as you can no longer edit your mask's material.
And of course, online only, takes 30 seconds or longer to find a match to play solo. Absolutely ridiculous.
Payday 2 you got 8-13 heists a year (somewhere around there, you can count yourself on a wiki page) and a good portion of them were even free + additional gun DLCs
Payday 3 only promises 4 new heists, tailor packs, and weapon packs if you buy the gold edition. 90 dollars + tax. (That's an extra 50 dollars!)
I'll add another thing. A striking lack of animations. In a game thats freaking about stealing money, there is no animation for picking up cash. It just feels unimersive and dated already. Like crime boss rockay city has way more animations going on that makes it feel more realistic.

My biggest issue with 3(I preordered and have access to the early release) is the menu. It seems to take a lot of inspiration from the latest COD games’ UIs. I really like the actual gameplay of the game feels a lot better than 2’s without compromising what made payday 2 so fun.
I mean the last bit of your take is confusing? You do know a sequel doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel right? They took everything great from payday 2 and gave it a face lift. Don’t fix something that isn’t broke

This is free on game pass. (Which is 10 a month) or 1 dollar if first time! Just spend a dollar for game pass if you want it (that’s what I did). P.S all the servers are currently unresponsive and broken. It’s powered by a disabled hamster running on a wheel

I want to point out that the devs were bullied by the community into adding a comedically large spoon as a melee weapon to Payday 2, so if you can get the voices together to chant it, you might be able to get that "Night at the Museum" idea added. Check with Russian Badger for help, he actually has contacts with the devs and started the whole "Give us the spoon" movement.

@@raedjoobeur3864 No, he just wasn't smart enough to see what they were doing to him. And he's not man enough to actually come out in a video and admit he was wrong. They purposefully got NON payday fans to come out, knowing they wouldn't review the game as harshly, and made them play a souped up version like Muzien said, that made him think it was going to be like that. But regardless, I do still blame him partially. Of course the payday 3 creators are mainly at fault though.

As a payday 2 fan who hasnt touched #3 yet, when I initially saw his review I was hyped AF. Then I saw the steam reviews (and THANK GOD for good ol Fleekozoid the cynical comedic genius that he is.) I ended up not getting it...

he states in the first minute of the video he's never played a payday game before, and if you've never played a payday game before, it's going to feel good to you and be a grand time. It's only when you compare it to the prior games that it seems outdated and missing features.

@@lorddcheddar Payday 2 was released over a decade ago and is infinitely better than MOST games that come out in todays day and age. Being this intellectually dishonest about reality is both embarrassing and baffling, a game not being "feature complete" shouldn't be a criticism in 2023, considering the vast budget and shilling said games get, it's downright insulting to the consumer.
@@optichillo3221 None of that changes that he states in the video that he doesn't have any prior experience with Payday and he hopes his technical problems get fixed on launch, which they weren't. Judging him as if hes reviewing the game from the perspective of a veteran in the launch state while he's a newcomer in a controlled environment is weird, especially when he states that he hopes the technical problems are fixed on launch and that he has never played Payday before.
