I still remember that night . I wasn't even able to watch the penalties and turned my back. The moment we won, i was just speechless. Actually that was the first year of me watching liverpool. I will never ever in my life forget the gerrard final.
Lucky you only got to see Gerrard play at the back end of his footballing career but so glad there is internet and youtube got to see what a baller he was and still is 🙌👍🏻🤙
Do you also remember the 2007 final ?
@@MT-eo6tq yes indeed.
Watched it in my country Malaysia at 3.30am ending at 6.30am and no lethargic whatsoever working as usual at 9am. The moment dudek made that double save I knew we would win it. Such a dramatic football match would only happen once in a century.
2022 is my first year and we realy need one of those games right now.
That Dudek double save on Shevchenko still blows my mind..
Just as important as the goals
Probably the most crucial save of that final, still loving that. Now we can’t even beat Atalanta and bottled the league…
To come from 3-0 Down to 3-3 and then winning it on Pens was an unforgettable moment!

That season Liverpool were really having a hard time. They didn't qualify for the next UCL through the league and were running low on performance. Still to be able to pull off that feat against the most legendary Milan team is what made this final extraordinary and the victory one to be remembered forever!

This is by far the greatest Champions League final in its history. One team on the brink of certain defeat by half time, only to come back, and win the title on penalties. You honestly couldn't make miracles like this up! ⚽❤️🏆
1999 was the greatest comeback.

Watching stevie g drag this Liverpool side back into this final was what made me a Liverpool supporter watching this at 15 years old was an unbelievable memory
I was too young to watch this game but when I watched it for the first time as an eight year old, my father pointed out "3-0 down at half time and they're cheering. Best fans in the world".
I've always remembered that every single time we've gone down ever since.
That was a time when fans actually used to watch the game.. Now everyone is busy making videos in the stadium for Instagram
@@s.o2864 you think 4 0 against Barcelona at anfield happens with people being on there phones
Our fans are why we win. Walk on!❤
Watching it live the first half, Milan was dominating, seemed like no chance for Liverpool. The finish was unreal
That save at 2:27 🤯 no matter how many times i watch it, still it seems impossible. I mean the angle it deflects at seems to defy the laws of physics! What a game! YNWA!
Not once but twice, point blank saves. Incredible.
And that face after that..legendary
Incredible, Invincible! Dudek is Unstoppable! Legend Forever YNWA
Shevchenko wasn't even mad, he was confused 🤣
Dudek Will forever be a Liverpool legend for this night alone
It was 3.00 am Malaysia time anda i watch it with my late dad and my younger brother. At halftime, i can see a tears come out from dad eyes. He loves Liverpool so much. Suddenly after Liverpool lift them trophy, i can see he is the most happy man on Earth that morning. Very Sad that he cant see how LFC proggress now days. YNWA daddy. Our LFC are doing so good now.
Yup the same post :)
Crespo’s second goal of the night is a gem💎… and Kaka’s pass🥵…I have watched it more than 100 times!!🙌🏾
Watched this at the Cheers bar in Sydney, Australia. Can't remember when KO was, probably 4am or something, but was too nervous to sleep and stayed up all night, anyway. When Dudek saved Shevchenko's penalty, everything not tied down went flying in the air; beer, tables, chairs... people were in tears and everyone was hugging random strangers, etc. Then everyone was out on the street holding up traffic on George St outside the pub; all singing and celebrating. Man, it was a night I'll never forget. Still didn't get to sleep until many hours later because of the adrenaline (and alcohol ;)) in me!

Kaka pass was like a knife through butter
It was Amazing no question bout it. Thought we were gone. Gerrard's header in the 2nd half was magic, Pure Magic but it was Smicer from 30+ out that gained the momentum. What a strike
We pulled the greatest comeback of all time against a side with full of legends.
Barcelona comeback were way better and harder
Nah, this Liverpool was having a hard time those days, they were running low on performance and the fact of winning a UCL final to one of the most legendary Milan is what makes it great, that comeback from Barcelona is not better, Barcelona still had a great team those days. I am here because of John Green's chapter titled "Jerzy Dudek's Performance on May 25, 2005" in his book Anthropocene Reviewed. After having read the beautiful description of this incredible, albiet previously unknown to me, event in sports history, I had to see the recap myself. John is right, this is definitely worth 5 stars.

that Milan team was scary. stacked with talent BUT a final is a one off and anything can happen in a final. that has to be the greatest comeback in CL history. i'd put that above utd's 99 comback.
To make a come back against the best ac Milan side and Win on pen's is something special from 3 nill down to 3-3 just waw.
If Gerrard doesnt make you fall in love with football i do not know what will This LEGEND is the reason i support such a historic and class club I forever thank you and wish you the best in your managerial career.

The genuis of Gerrard in this game was not his goal and drive he bought to the team, but the way he defended Sergino at RB, who was like a Sterling, rapid winger for the last 15 20 mins.
Gerrard was shattered by then, Sergino would roast him for pace but Stevie G's legs seemed to hyper extend and he timed every sliding, jumping tackle to perfection. Stopping his threat. After about 4 or 5 attempts I remeber Serginho in conversation with his bench gesturing..."what can I do"
The very day I became a Liverpool fan forever, short story was just watching this game and supporting Liverpool because they were wearing red Jersey which was my local club’s jersey (kotoko),after watching them go down 3 zero I turned my tv 📺 off cos I was so pissed, but later I decided to turn the tv back on 🤦🏾♂️only to see the score line changed from 3-0 to 3-2 🤯it won’t be too long for Liverpool to get a penalty 😳 made it 3-3 and went ahead to win 🏆 the feeling I had that night was beyond joy since then I knew I was gonna be part of this great club forever 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️🔴 and I’ve never walked alone

What a night that was. I remember it like it was yesterday. YNWA.
I remember watching this with my dad. He was rooting for Liverpool. He gave up the game when they went 3-0 down but I kept watching for some reason, I'm not even a football fan.
When Liverpool got the 1st goal I let him know.
When they got the 2nd goal he came back downstairs.
When they got the penalty I had never seen such joy on his face.
It's a lovely memory of him.

The 2 Liverpool vs AC Milan finals of 2005 and 2007 taught us important lessons..
In 2005, we learnt that never lose hope. Anything is possible in football
In 2007, we learnt that we cannot rely on making a comeback every time. Need to learn from previous mistakes and not repeat them
yap setuju bgt sama pendapatnya
The better teams did not win those 2 years.
Best UCL Final ever, without the shadow of a doubt.
And an incredible spot for football, also.
And i say that as AC Milan fan: we were by far the stronger team, we played a lot better, still we ended up losing the game. That's the beauty of football.
Unmatched heart and balls from Liverpool!👏🔴
Strong team but still bottled
I'm a Milan fan... what a match... i think the worse final a fan could imagine. Joyce and despair in three minutes and a lot of bad luck for the rest of the match.. this is life. Two remarks about: 1. Fortunately next year we had our revenge 2. Liverpool and Milan are the historical élite of european football like Real Madrid and few other clubs. So i hope we can come back soon also in Champions League (we already won Serie A League few day ago) to play more fabolous finals with fantastic teams like Liverpool and write again the history of this sport
Legendary clubs like Milan, LFC, Madrid, Barca, have too many souls in heaven raning thier blessings down on these clubs.
Your club are a traditional European powerhouse. Glad to see them become serie A champions again.

I almost switched off the TV at half time... so glad I didn't! such memories! this team had no business getting to the final let alone defeat such an eliteeee Milan side... hands down the miracle of Istanbul... this match showed a young me that ANYTHING is possible... COME ON REDS... the 7th is COMING!
I still remember this final vividly. I watched the entire 2nd half and extra time kneeling only jumping up to celebrate a Liverpool goal.
I’ll never forget the nervous look on Xabi’s face whilst he waited to take that penalty to gain parity during normal time. The weight of so many people’s emotions on his shoulders. It showed in the quality of his penalty, but his BMT shone through with the follow up to score from the save. Cue wild scenes 🥳
It’s a miracle Gerrard’s back still there with all this carrying.
