14 years in the making... i was 9 years old when a falcon won a major for the last time
wizzy was like 4 or 5 at the time
I didn’t exist when a falcon won a tournament for the first time.
TickBoom he was born in 1998 so he was like 7
And that was a time when Melee's meta was unrefined and Falcon was believed to be a true top tier
Wizzy is the first falcon to win a major since Isai.
That bloggles my mind. Isai was an original melee player.

Let me explain. In what world do we have Hungrybox as the number 1 player, yet we recently had a Falco AND NOW a Capt. Falcon win a super major? I'm ok with that.
Now lets get Pikachu and yoshi in that situation.

Depending on bracket, this could very well happen. aMSa can beat everyone but Captain Falcons. Axe can beat everyone but Hbox. Wizzrobe can beat everyone but Plup and Mang0. The path is more narrow for S2J but he too could do it if overcoming one of his demons. Let's not forget M2K won majors avoiding Hbox and Mang0. Upsets happen.
@@Senbaek Pretty sure M2k has beaten Mango and Hbox to get to Grand finals in multiple tournaments. Most recently Smash Con 2018 where he beat Hbox in losers finals.

12:36 Wobbles was right, and I never would have noticed it if it weren't for that beautiful man. Amsa parried first hit nair, jumped oos and got his double jump armor before the second hit came out. Wtf? I swear amsa has some nasty tech for parrying.
You ever notice the way he times his shield into a roll and evades grabs so much? I think he always hits jump at the start of his shield animation to get the parry and then reacts whether or not anything happens. Almost like Yoshi can option select parry since jump oos doesn't do anything otherwise. This would be much worse if the start of the shield wasn't intangible, cause Amsa seems to cover getting grabbed AND attacked with just that shield startup animation. Genius.

I remember when people mocked Wizzrobe back when he began in Project M and called him "this kid" or wathever, now look how far he has gotten.
Wizzy, while not the flashiest or biggest personality skyrocketed up my list of most interesting to watch in both games after this Tourney. Dude proved you can conceivably win a major in Melee and Ultimate, but anyone is gonna have a hell of a time trying to get past Mkleo rn. Crazy that it's been since Isai that a Falcon won a major, what a legend.

you never like to see mango go down so early in top 8, but it was nice to see leffen adapting from their last set. last time mango just powered through him, but this tourney leffen was catching most of his approaches w up tilt/other anti-airs.
almost every leffen highlight clip from this set starts with mango nairing into leffen's back, trading with up tilt, and getting punished

how did wobbles know that plup lost his jump at 19:46?
you can see the circle in mid air from the double jump, it doesnt last long but if you look its there. play the video at .25 and youll see it
Anytime a character double jumps there is a visual of a blue ring that appears under the characters foot. It's hard to see but the ring quickly appears as leffen nairs plup off the side platform. It's also hard to see due to the other hit animation cues going on. Pretty crazy how seasoned melee players can identify the ring so quickly. I still need to double check sometimes just to make sure.
